(01. 273-100) This invention relates to amusement devices and has particular reference to an improved ring and peg game device which in addition to being entertaining and amusing to the players requires the exercise of a high degree of skill in the playing of the game.

The invention provides a ring and peg game device adapted to be secured to a door frame or other upright support for mounting the device 10 with the ring suspended for swinging movement in an arc to selectivelyengage over the pegs arranged with their axes in fixed substantially horizontal positions.

The invention further provides a ring and peg 15 game device which is so constructed and arranged that the same may be selectively secured to either the right or left handside or stile of a door frame or other upright support with the ring.

The base I0 is provided with a screw clamp 13 adjustably secured to the rear face thereof for selectively mounting the base on a vertical upright with the plane of the base disposed substantially vertical. The clamp I3 is pivoted to the base by a bolt 14 or other fastening element adjacent the rear edge thereof for swinging movement in an are about the bolt M as the center. The clamp I3 is selectively secured to the base in relatively adjusted positions by a bolt 55 engaging in any opening of'the sets of openings it 15 and respectively, disposed adjacent the opposite edge thereof. In the embodiment illustrated, the base lll is secured to one of the sides or stiles of adoor frame A with the bolt I5 engaged in the lowermost opening of the set l6 but the same may be secured to the opposite side or stile of the door frameby adjusting the clamp l3 so that the bolt l5 will engage in any one of the set of openings ll whereby the base may be set up on any door frame irrespective of whether the door is swung from one side or the other thereof. 7 r

The clamp l3 includes a channeled bight portion l8 and a pair of L-shaped clamping jaws I9 and 20 which are relatively adjustable within the bight portion and adapted to be secured in variously spaced relation to each other by means of the bolts l4 and 15 extending through the apertures 2| in the clamping jawsand in the bight portion. The jaw [9 has threadedly extending therethrough a clamping screw 22 provided with a swiveled head 23 between which and the opposite jaw 20 the door frame is adapted to be clamped for securing the base thereto in applied position with the base in a substantially vertical plane. 4E0

Secured to the base and projecting medially outwardly from one edge thereof, is an arm com-- posed of a pair of'outwardly converging rods 24 V and 25 secured at their outer ends to an intermediate rod section 26, the inner end of which is anchored to a cross brace 21 through which the converging rods extend, the outer end of the intermediate rod section 26 protrudes outwardly beyond the converging rods and has depending therefrom a suspension cord 28 which is attached thereto by a swivel 29. .The lower endof the suspension cord 28 supports a ring 30 preferably ofyieldable material such as rubber or the like which is of circular cross-sectional configuration and which isconnected to the lower end of 5 5 the suspension cord 28 by a swivel 3! so that twisting of the suspension cord is not imparted to the ring.

The pegs I2 are located on an arc with the end of the arm as the center thereof, the suspension cord being of such a length that the opening defined by the ring 3E3 is swingable ina path to permit of the ring to encircle and engage over any one of the pegs.

The inclination of the arm may be varied so I as to raise or lower the outer end thereof together with the suspension cord and ring by selectively engaging the bolt l5 in any of the remaining openings of the set of openings I6 and when the device is secured to the opposite door frame, the same may be accomplished by selectively securing the bolt H5 in the openings l1. p

The base Ed has secured to the rear facethereof a plurality of bearing blocks 32 adapted to abut against the door frame for spacing the base therefrom so as to accommodate the ends of the bolts [4 and I5 and to serve as means for steadying the base in its applied position on the door frame.

In playing the game, the players must exercise skill in holding the ring in such a position that upon release thereof it will traverse a compound arcuate path, the terminus of which is at the extremity of either one of the pegs whereby the ring will encircle the peg and engage thereover.

In the modified form of the invention illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5, the base 35 is illustrated as preferably constructed of sheet metal having a rearwardly directed flange 35 at one side edge thereof which is formed with vertically spaced openings 3'! and 38 to optionally receive therethrough the arm 39 from which the ring 40 is suspended by means of a cord 41. The rear of the base has secured thereto sockets 42 and 43 for receiving the inner end of the arm 39, the arrangement being such that the arms radiate from the center peg :24 which projects outwardly on a substantially horizontal axis from the forward face of the base. The base is also provided with a series of sockets 45 and 46, the former being disposed on an arc with the end of the arm as the center thereof when the same is arranged in the opening 3i and the latter sockets 46 being arranged on an arc with the end of the arm 39 as the center thereof when said arm is arranged in the opening 38. Pins 41 are selectively engageable in the sockets 45 and 46 to coincide with the arrangement of the arm 39 in the openings 31 and 38. A clamp bracket 48 for attaching the device to a door frame or other support is secured to the rear surface "of the base 35 thereby permitting the base to be mounted on either side of the door frame or support with either opening 3'! or 38 disposed upwardly, it being understood that the arm 39 is engaged in the opening 3'! or 38, or the socket 42 or 43 which is disposed uppermost.

As illustrated in the present form, the arm 39 preferably includes a plurality of telescopically associated cross sectionally channel-shaped sections 49 to permit of the collapsing of the arm to a compact arrangement for storage and shipment.

What is claimedis:

1. In a game device of the character described, a base, means carried by the base for anchoring the same to an upright with the plane of the base disposed substantially vertical, a plurality of arcuately spaced projections extending outwardly from a surface of the base, an arm secured to the base and projecting therefrom in a substantially prolongation of the plane of the base with the end of the arm substantially at the center of the arc of the projections, and a ring suspended from the end of the arm for swinging movement to engage over the projections.

2. In a game device of the character described, a base, means carried by the base for anchoring the same to an upright with the plane of the base disposed substantially vertical, a projection extending outwardly from a surface of the base, an arm secured to the base and projecting therefrom substantially in a prolongation of the plane 7 of thebase, a ring, means suspending the ring from the end of the arm for swinging movement to engage over the projection, and a swivelled connection between the suspension means and the arm and ring respectively for preventing twisting of the suspension means being imparted to the ring.

3. In a game device of the character described, a base, means adjustably carried by the base for selectively anchoring the same to either side of a door frame with the plane of the base disposed substantially vertical, a plurality of pegs projecting outwardly from a, surface of the base, an arm secured to the base and projecting medially from an edge thereof substantially at a right angle to the pegs, and a ring suspended from the end of the arm for swinging movement in an arcuate path to selectively engage over the pegs, said pegs being arranged on an arc with'the end of the arm substantially as the center thereof.

4. In a game device of the character described, a base, a plurality of projections extending out- Wardly from a surface of the base, an arm secured to the base projecting outwardly from one side thereof, a ring suspended from the end of the arm for swinging movement in an arcuate path to selectively engage over the projections, a clamp for anchoring the base and arm to a vertical support, and cooperating means carried by the clamp and base for selectively securing the base to the clamp for varying the inclination of the arm and the height of the ring.

5. A game device including a base, means for reversibly attaching said base to an upright support with the outer surface of the base in a substantially vertical plane, an arm having a ring suspended from the outer end thereof for swinging movementysockets in said base for selectively receiving the inner end of the arm to dispose the same at an inclination and in substantially the plane of the outer surface of the base, a series of pegs, and means provided on the base for respectively'arranging the pegs on an arc to coincide with the outer'end of the arm as a center and protruding outwardly from the outer surface of the base for engagement of the ring thereover.

6. In a game device, a base, clamp means at the rear of the base for reversibly mounting the same upon an upright support with the outer surface of the base in a substantially vertical plane, an arm having a ring-suspended by means of a cord from the outer end thereof, means for optionally mounting the arm-in a plurality of positions on the base to respectively extend at an inclination in substantial prolongation of the plane of the outer surface of the base,'and a series of pegs adapted to be arranged on an arc and projecting outwardly from the base with the end of the arm as the center of the arc at each of said positions.
