W. N. RETTINGER NOODLE CUTTER Eiled. March 27, 1936 2 Sheets-Sheet? Inventor mill 0m mpeliz'r yer 3%; and
a I Attorneys Patented Sept. 14, 1937 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in noodle cutters and has for one of its important objects to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a device of this character embodying a novel construction and arrangement of adjustable gage through the medium of which the noodles may be sliced as desired.
Another very important object of the invention is to provide a noodle cutter of the aforementioned character which is compact and portable and which may be expeditiously secured in position for use on any suitable support, such as a table.
Other objects of the invention are to provide a noodle cutter of the character described which will be comparatively simple in construction, strong, durable, highly efiicient and reliable in use, light in weight and which may be manufactured at low cost.
All of the foregoing and still further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study of the following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein:
Figure 1 is a top plan view of a noodle cutter constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a view in front elevation of the device.
Figure 3 is a detail view, showing the mounting of the adjustable gage, taken substantially on the line 3-3 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a detail view in section, taken substantially on the line 44 of Figure 2.
Figure 5 is a detail view in perspective of the adjustable gage.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that the embodiment of the invention which has been illustrated comprises a substantially arcuate frame I of any suitable metal. The frame I is fixed on a clamp 2 through the medium of which the device may be removably secured in position for use on a suitable support, such as a table. Fixed in the frame I and projecting horizontally therefrom is a feed trough 8 which may also be of any suitable metal.
Projecting from one end portion of the frame I is an integral ear 4. The reference numeral 5 designates a hand lever which is pivotally connected at one end, as at 6, to the ear 4 for swinging movement in a vertical plane adjacent the side of the frame I which is remote from the feed trough 3. At its free end portion the lever 5 terminates in a handle I.
Rising from the other end of the frame I is an integral guide 8 for the lever 5. The. reference numeral 9 designates bumpers at the ends of the guide 8 for engagement by the lever 5. It will be observed that the guide 8 is arcuate to allow for the are which the pivoted lever 5 describes in' its movement. A grooved block I0 is fixed on the lever 5 and slidably engaged with the guide 8 for connecting said lever thereto. The reference numeral II designates a slicing knife or blade which is fixed on the lever 5 adjacent the frame I.
Projecting outwardly from the lever 5 i's'a socket I2 for adjustably receiving a'shank l3..
Mounted on the outer end of the shank I3 is an angular arm I4 which carries a gage I5. A set screw I5 is provided in the socket I2 for releasably securing the shank I3 in adjusted position.
It is thought that the operation of the device will be readily apparent from a consideration of the foregoing. r
The gage I5 is adjusted to the desired position relative to the knife II and secured, as suggested ings a noodle is shown in dotted lines and designated by the reference numeral IT. The bumpers 9 limit the movement of the lever 5 in opposite directions. When not in use the device may be expeditiously removed from the table or other support. The lever 5 may be tightened as desired on its pivot B through the medium of nuts I8. A washer I9 is interposed between the lever 5 and the ear 4.
It is believed that the many advantages of a noodle cutter constructed in accordance with the present'invention will be readily understood, and although a preferred embodiment of the device is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is:-
In a noodle cutter, a pivoted lever, a knife carried thereby, a gage plate including an angular arm integral with the plate and offset therefrom and means for adjustably securing the plate to the lever in spaced parallelism with respect to the knifeand comprising a socket projecting laterally from the lever and a shank projecting laterally from the arm and slidably positioned in the socket.
