This invention relates to toys of the character having movably mountedl feet for the staging of boxing bouts or prizeghts between said iigures and operated by persons who are opponents to each other in the playing of the game, and has for the primary object the provision of a device of this character whereby the pleasure derived in the successful operation or playing of the game has a certain amount of chance involved along with skill on the part of the players.

With these and other objects in view, this invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and figures after receiving a blow and `being knocked oif balance.

Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral I indicates a pair of opposed operating members adapted to slide relative to each other and each has secured thereto adjacent one end a handle 2 in the form of a pistol grip. The handles are arranged at opposite ends of the device so that they may be gripped by persons opposing each other. The operating members are of plate-like formation and have secured thereto plates 3 which extend at right angles thereto. Guide rollers 4 are carried by said plates 3 and slidably receive the operating members I to retain said operating members in relatively spaced relation and to permit said members to be moved relative to each other in both endwise directions. The rollers are grouped in pairs, also the plates 3 and said pairs of rollers engage opposite -faces of the members I.

Boxing or fighting figures 5 are mounted on the members l and oppose each other. The construction of each is identical and reference to one specifically is thought sufficient to both.

A trigger plate 6 is pivoted to the member I by a pivot pin I2 and terminates at one end in a trigger 1 adapted to be operated by the persons hand grasping the handle 2. The pivotal movement of the trigger plate is limited by spaced stops 8 secured to the member I and alternatingly engaging with shoulders 3 formed on said trigger plates. A coil spring IU is secured to the trigger plate and to the member I and acts to position the trigger plate or one shoulder thereof in engagement with one of the stops positioning the trigger 'I away from the handle 2 so that the person grasping the handle 2 may pull upon the trigger in a manner similar to operating the trigger of a gun. A latch member II is pivotally and slidably connected to the trigger plate IS, by the pivot pin I2, and forms an integral part of a supporting rod I3. The latch member II has a notch I4 to engage with a keeper I5 secured to the latch plate 5 so that the supporting rod I3 under normal operating conditions will swing with the pivotal movement of the latch plate. A coil spring I6 is secured to the latch member II and to the lower end of the leg 2|, acting to retain the notch in engagement with the keeper. However, when a force` in an endwise direction is placed upon the supporting member I3, the latch member II may move out of engagement with the keeper for a free swinging movement on the pivot I2.

The gure of this toy includes a head Il, a body i8, arms I3 and 20 and legs 2l and 22. The leg 22 is an integral part of the body I8, while the leg 2| is separate therefrom and is journaled on the pivot l2 and has the member I3 slidably secured thereto. The member i3 has a pivotal and slidable connection to the body I8, as shown at 23. A weight 24 is secured to the leg 22 to cause the body to swing on the pivot 23 with a pendulum movement. The hands 25 of the arms are shaped to represent boxing gloves and the arms are pivoted to the body i8, as shown at 26. The arms have secured to the lshoulder portions thereof counterbalance weights 21. The

pivotal movement of the arms is limited by pins lil 28 secured to the arms and operating in arcuate shaped slots 29 formed in said body. The pivot of one arm is disposed in a plane above the pivot of the other arm and also the location of the weights on said arms Vary with respect to each other which with the location of said pivots causes an alternating pivotal movement of the arms during the swinging or pendulum movement of the body. The head ITI, arms, body I8 and legs cooperate in forming a representation of a human ligure. The head I 'I is secured to a lever 36 which is pivoted to the body, as; shown lat 3 I. The head is located at one end of the lever. while the opposite end of said lever is offset to form a projection 32 which has sliding engagement with an arcuately curved element 33 formed on the upper end of the supporting member I3. The plate 34 forming a part of the pivot 23 and secured to the leg 2| is provided with spaced shoulders 35 between which operates a stop pin 3E. The stop pin is secured to the body I8 which with the shoulders 35 will limit the pivotal or pendulum movement of the body and the leg 22. The lever Si: is rocked on its pivot by a blow delivered to the head or face thereof bythe hands of the opposing figure. The pivotal movement of the head from a dotted line position in Figure 7 to a full line position causes an endwise movement of the supporting member I3 disengaging the latch member II from the keeper I5 allowing vthe ligure to either swing forwardly or rearwardly, as shown in Figure 4, becoming inoperative by the movement of the trigger plate 6. 'Ihe gure falling forward indicates the end of a boxing round and when the gure falls rearwardly, as shown in Figure 4, indicates the end of the fight by the figure being knocked out by the blow received from the opposing figure. The latch member il maybe restored in engagement with the keeper i5 by manually moving the supporting member I3 endwise in a proper direction, thereby reestablishingthe driving connection between the trigger plate 6 and the g'ure.

In operation, the opponents or players stand i opposing each other and grasp the handles 2 with one hand and with a finger of said hand in engagement with the trigger the opponents or players thenmay slide the operating members towards and from themselves moving the figures towards and from each other at the same time operating the triggers '1. rIlhe actuation of the triggers imparts to the figures pendulum movements and the arms being pivoted and counterbalanced with one arm pivot of each figure in a plane above the other arm pivot of said gure, brings about alternating 4swinging movement of the arms. The gures being advanced towards and from each other during the pendulum movement thereof through the slidingwof the opera-ting members I, the hands of the arms of said figures will strike said figures with considerable force and when the head or face of a ligure is struck a blow the gure either falls forwardly or rearwardly by the latch member of that gure being disengaged from the keeper of the trigger plate. Should the figure fall forwardly the player operating said figure loses the round and if the figure falls rearwardly, as shown in Figure 4, that player loses the fight by a the playing of this gaine, the skill of 'the playing of this game depending on the players operating the triggers and the sliding movements of the operating members by said players.

The operating members I are limited in their sliding movements relative to each other by spaced stops 34 engageable with the plates 3.

Having described the invention, I claim:

l. A toy comprising a slidable operating member, a handle on said member, a trigger mechanism .carried by said member and operated by a persons finger of the hand grasping the handle, a supporting member pivotally and slidably connected to the trigger mechanism and includling a latch member, a keeper secured to the trigger mechanism an-d engaged by the latch member to `temporarily secure the supporting member to said trigger mechanism, and a gure pivotally supported to said supporting member and including pivotally mounted arms and hands therefor.

2. A toy comprising a slidable operating member, a handle on said member, a trigger mechanism carried by said member and operated by a persons finger of the hand grasping the handle, a supporting member pivotally and slidably connected to the trigger mechanism and including a latch member, a keeper secured to the trigger mechanism and engaged by the latch member t0 temporarily securethe supporting member to said trigger mechanism, a figure toy pivotally and slidably connected to the supporting member-and including a head, a body, arms pivoted thereto and legs, one of which forms an integral part of the body and the other being secured'to thesupporting member, and means-connecting the'head to the supporting member to impart movement Y,

thereto on the head receiving a blow to disengage the latch member from the 'keeper and thereby free the supporting member from the trigger mechanism permitting the figure to fall either rearwardly or'forwardly. y

3. A toy comprising a slidable operating member, a 'handle on said member, a trigger mechanism carried by said member and operated by a persons nger ofthe hand grasping the'handle, a supporting member pivotally and slidably connected to the trigger mechanism and including a latch member, a keeper secured to the trigger mechanism and engaged by the latch member to temporarily secure thesupporting member to said trigger mechanism, a gure toy pivotally and slidably connected to the supporting member and including a head, a'body, arms pivoted thereto and legs, one of which forms an integralpart of the body and the other being securedto the supporting memberfcounterbalance weights for said arms, a counterbalance weight secured to the leg xed to the 4body to cause said body to swing with a pendulum movement, and a connection between the head and the supporting member to impart a movement to the latter by'a blow deliveredfto the head for disengaging the latch member from the keeper.

4. A toy comprising a slidable operating member, a handle on said member, a trigger mechanism carried by said member and operated by a persons linger of the hand grasping the handle, a supporting member pivotally and slidably connected to the trigger mechanism and including a latch member, a keeper Isecured to the trigger l mechanism and engaged by the latch member to temporarily secure Vthe supporting member to and legs, onev of which forms an'integral part of the body and the other being secured to the supporting member, counterbalance weights for said arms, a counterbalance weight secured to the leg fixed to the body to cause said body to swing with a pendulum movement, a lever pivoted to the body and secured at one end to the head and having its opposite end bent to form an offset, a curved member formed on the supporting member to be engaged by the offset end of the lever whereby a movement of the head by receiving a blow imparts movement to the supporting member to disengage the latch member from the keeper.

A toy comprising a slidable operating member, a handle on said member, a trigger mechanism carried by said member and operated by a persons finger of the hand grasping the handle, a supporting member pivotally and slidably connected to the trigger mechanism and including a latch member, a keeper secured to the trigger' mechanism and engaged by the latch member 4to temporarily secure the supporting member to said trigger mechanism, a figure toy pivotally andy slidably connected to the supporting member and including a head, a body, arms pivoted thereto and legs, one of which forms an integral part of the body and the other being secured to the supporting member, counterbalance weights for said arms, a counterbalance weight secured to 40 member to urge the latch member in engagement with the keeper.

A toy comprising a slidable operating member, a handle on said member, a trigger mechanism carried by said member and operated by a persons finger of the hand grasping the handle, a supporting member pivotally and slidably connected to the trigger mechanism and including a latch member, a keeper secured to the trigger mechanism and engaged by the latch member to temporarily secure the supporting member to said trigger mechanism, a figure toy pivotally and slidably connected to the supporting member and including a head, a body, arms pivoted thereto and legs, one of which forms an integral f part of the body and the other being secured to the supporting member, counterbalance Weights for said arms, a counter balance Weight secured to the leg fixed to the body to cause said body to swing with a pendulum movement, a lever pivoted to the body and secured at one end to the head and having its opposite end bent to form an oiset, a curved member formed on the supporting member to be engaged by the offset end of the lever whereby a movement of f the head by receiving a blow imparts movement to the supporting member to dsengage the latch member from the keeper, a spring connected to the latch member to urge the latch member in engagement with the keeper, and means for limiting the movement of the trigger mechanism.

A toy comprising a slidable operating member, a handle on said member, a trigger mechanism carried by said member and operated by a persons nger of the hand grasping the handle, a supporting member pivotally and slidably connected to the trigger mechanism and including a latch member, a keeper secured to the trigger mechanism and engaged by the latch member to temporarily 'secure the supporting member to said trigger mechanism, a figure toy pivotally and slidably connected to the supporting member and including a head, a body, arms pivoted thereto, and legs, one of which forms an integral part of the body and the other being securedto the supporting member, counterbalance weights forA said arms, a counterbalance Weight secured to the leg xed to the body to cause said body to swing with a pendulum movement, a lever pivoted to the body and'secured at: one end to the head and having its opposite end bent to form an oiset, a curved member formed on the supporting member to be engaged by the offset end of the lever whereby a movement of the head by receiving a blow imparts movement to the supporting member to disengage the latch member from the keeper, a spring connected to the latch member to urge the latch member in engagement with the keeper, means for limiting the movement of the trigger mechanism, and means for limiting the pendulum movement of the body.

8. A toy comprising a figure including a body, a head, a pair of arms and a pair of legs and one of said legs integral with the body, pivots connecting the arms to the body and the pivot of one arm being located in a pl-ane above the pivot of the other arm, counterbalance weights connected to the arms, a supporting member pivotally and slidably connected to the' body,A and having the other leg secured thereto, means for limiting the pivotal movement of the body, a,r

counterbalance weight connected to the leg fixed to the body for causing a pendulum movement of said body, and an operating means for imparting movement to the supporting member.

9. A toy comprising a gure including a body, a head, a pair of arms and a pair of legs and one of said legs integral with the body, pivots connecting the arms to the body and the pivot of one arm being located in a plane above the pivot of the other arm, counterbalance weights connected to the arms, a supporting member pivotally and slidably connected to the body and having the other leg secured thereto, means for limiting the pivotal movement of the body, a counterbalance weight connected to the leg fixed to the body for causing a pendulum movement of said body, a lever pivotedl to the body and having a head secured to one end and its other end oiset, an arcuate-shaped member formed on the supporting member and engaging the oiset end of the lever to impart sliding movement to the supporting member, when said head is moved by a blow, a trigger mechanism pivotally connected to the supporting member for imparting swinging movement to the latter, and means for releasably securing the supporting member to the trigger mechanism.

10. A toy comprising a gure including a body, a head, -a pair of arms and a pair of legs and one of said legs integral with the body, pivots connecting the arms to the body and the pivot of one arm being located in a plane above the pivot of the other arm, counterbalance Weights connected to the arms, a supporting member pivotally and slidably connected to the body, and

having the other leg secured thereto, means for limiting the pivotal movement of the body, a counterbalance weight connected to the leg fixed to the body for causing a pendulum movement of said body, a lever pivoted to the body and having a head secured to one end and its other end offset, an arcuate-shaped member formed on the supporting member and engaging the 01T- set end of the lever to impart sliding movement to the supporting member when said head is moved by a blow, a trigger mechanism pivotally connected to the supporting member for imparting swinging movement to the latter, a latch member formed on the supporting member, a keeper carried by the trigger mechanism and engaged by the latch member to releasably secure the supporting member to the trigger mechanism.

11. A toy comprising a gure including a body, a head, a pair of arms and a pair of legs and one of said legs integral with the body, pivots connecting the arms to the body and the pivot of one arm being located in a plane above the pivot of the other arm, counterbalance Weights connected to the arms, a supporting member pivotally and slidably connected to the body and lto the supporting member when said head is moved by a blow, a trigger mechanism pivotally connected to the operating member and imparting swinging movement to the latter, a latch member formed on the supporting member, a keeper carried by the trigger mechanism and engaged by the latch member to releasably secure the supporting member to the trigger mechanism, and a spring acting on the latch member to engage the latter with the keeper.
