More particularly it is a purpose of this invention to provide a combined lamp base and bulb structure which may be utilized in combination .with any one of several light sockets and any on of a plurality of different decorative units.

The features and advantages of the invention will appear more clearly from the following de lo scription, reference being had to the accompanying drawing wherein a preferred form of the invention is shown. It is to be understood, however, that the drawing and description are illustrative only and are not to be taken as limiting the invention except in so far as his limited by the claims.

and l. The base l3 and its associated lamp bulb l2 are made up as units with the lamp bulbs 20 cemented in place by means of the cement 8.

The lamp bulb is provided with connection leads 22 and 23 for connection to a screw shell and a center contact of the ordinary screw base commonly used on lamp bulbs.

In order that the base i3 and its associated lamp bulb can be utilized with equal facility on the three most common types of screw bases, the

body of the base I3 is provided with a plurality of mounting shoulders made to fit the so called Edison base andthe two smaller bases, that is the candelabra and the intermediate bases. The

shoulder for the Edison base is provided at 24 and, as shown best by Fig. 4, a standard Edison screw base 25 may be fitted on this shoulder 2G and, when filled with cement, will be rigidly fixed to base IS. The filament connections to the base 25 are made by connecting the leads 22 and 23 to the shell 25 and to the central contact 26, respectively.

When an intermediate base such as is shown in Fig. 3 is used, this base 2'? is adapted to fit upon the exterior of a cylindrical extension 28 at the bottom of the base i3. This cylindrical extension is slotted at 29 to provide a means whereby the intermediate base 2i or a small base 39 may be anchored against rotation by having a punched out portion such as 3i or 32. The

filament leads 22 and 23 are, of course, secured in the usual fashion, and the cement filling of the base 27 or of the base 39 will be sufiicient I to hold the base in position. The small base 30 I fits on the interior of the extension 28 extending into the opening 20 as will be readily understood.

For the purpose of holding the Edison base 25 in position, it may be provided with an indentation at 33 fitting in one of the openings IT.

From the above description, it is believed that the construction and advantages of this device will be readily apparent to those skilled in this art.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In combination, a lamp bulb, a mounting base therefor, said lamp bulb being fixed in said mounting base, said base being composed of insulating material, said base having means thereon providing a mounting rim for decorative light transmitting and reflecting devices, said base having annular shoulders thereon of different diameters whereby it may receive screw shells of different standard sizes.

2. In combination, a lamp bulb, a mounting base therefor, said lamp bulb being fixed in said mounting base, said base being composed of insulating material, said base having means thereon providing a mounting rim for decorative light transmitting and reflecting devices, said base having annular shoulders thereon of different diameters whereby it may receive screw shells of different standard sizes, said base having its mounting rim spaced from the lamp bulb and having means for admitting air to the lamp bulb below said rim.

In combination, a lamp bulb, a mounting base therefor, said lamp bulb being fixed in said mounting base, said base being composed of insulating material, said base having means thereon providing a mounting rim for decorative light transmitting and reflecting devices, said base having annular shoulders thereon of different diameters whereby it may receive screw shells of different standard sizes, said base having an annular air chamber around the lamp bulb between the mounting rim thereof and the lamp bulb.

In combination, a lamp bulb, a mounting base therefor, said lamp bulb being fixed in said mounting base, said base being composed of insulating material, said base having means thereon'providing a mounting rim for decorative light transmitting and reflecting devices, said base having annular shoulders thereon of diiferent diameters whereby it may receive screw shells of different standard sizes, said base having a plurality of air inlet openings spaced around the same and having a hollow interior providing air spaces in communication with said openings.
