The present invention relates to a window seat designed particularly for the purpose of cleaning the outside of windows and the like and the prime object of the invention resides in the provision of a seat whereby the operator is placed in safety, and considerable convenience both in mounting the seat and when mounted and occupied in cleaning the windows.

A still further object of the invention resides in the provision of a window seat of this nature which is simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, easy to manipulate, compact and convenient in its arrangement of parts, thoroughly reliable in use, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.

With the above and numerous other objects in View as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

Referring to the drawings in detail it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes a platform, a seat, or a panel. Elongated bars 6 are secured to the panel and extend beyond the front or outer edge thereof as shown to advantage in Figures 2 and 4 and merge into ogee-shaped hook members I which are lined with rubber or any other suitable material 8. Transversely disposed under the seat, platform or the like 5 is a bracket comprising a cross member 9 with inverted L-shaped legs l0 merging from the ends thereof, the outwardly and oppositely disposed ears of which are fixed under the platform in spaced relation to the ogee-hooks I. This bracket 9 is disposed intermediate the outer and inner edges of the platform as best illustrated in Figure 2 for resting on the window sill with the hooks over the outer edge thereof.

The platform 5 extends well inwardly of the window sill. A back rest and prop combination frame is associated with the platform. This frame is formed from a single strand of a rod bent so as to provide a central or intermediate cross rod l2, the ends of which merge into L-shaped arms [4 which, in turn, merge into inwardly directed trunnions [5 which, in turn, merge into arms it having inwardly directed extension I'l terminating with their terminals in abutment and alignment. The trunnions [5 are rockable in bearings l8 mounted under the platform or seat 5. Obviously the farther that an occupant of the seat or platform bears backwardly on the cross member l2 the more securely the members l1 engage the outer wall of the building below the window sill for holding the operators in place.

It is thought that the construction, operation, utility and advantages of this invention will now be quite apparent to those skilled in this art without a more detailed description thereof.

The present embodiment of the invention has been described in considerable detail merely for the purposes of exemplification since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.

It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.

What is claimed is:-

An apparatus of the class described comprising, in combination, a platform, hook members extending from one edge of said platform, a pivoted prop structure formed of a single rod having its ends positioned in abutting relation to form a closed loop member, said member including a pair of parallel sections one of which contacts a supporting structure and the other of which extends upwardly from the platform to form a back rest and side sections connecting said parallel sections, each side section having an angular portion parallel to said pair of parallel sec tions and forming trunnions and bearing clamps pivotally mounting the trunnions to the platform.
