While I have shown the table top and 1eg formed in a particular manner, I do not wish to' limit myself to any particular manner of forming the table, as I am aware that it can be formed in various ways and the table could be formed of a single top board and the legs could be formed rigid or connected together in any suitable manner as my invention consists broadly in forming a ping pong table having an area equal to one half of the area of a standard table whereby it can be used in a small space and yet have all the results of a ping pong table.

In the construction of support for the rebounding board herein illustrated, I arrange standards 'I and 8 upon the top of the table at each end, said standards preferably being arranged obliquely in respect to the top of the table and are provided at their lower ends with supports 9 and IIl which extend forwardly and are adapted to be engaged by clamps I I and I2 for securing the supports rigidly in position to support the rebounding board as will be hereinafter fully described.

The standards 'l and 3 are provided with vertically disposed slots I3 and I4 in which is adjustably mounted a rebounding board I5 against which the ball is adapted to be driven by the player in order to cause it to rebound upon the surface of the table top.

A simple form for adjusting the board is herein shown which comprises wedges I6, I1 and I8 which are adapted to be inserted in the slot between the board and the walls of the slot for holding it in various positions as shown in Figures 1, 3 and 4.

While I have shown a simple form-of supporting and adjusting the board, of course, I am aware that various other means could be employed for supporting and adjusting the board in various angles and various heights and it is, of course, understood that by substituting wedges I6 of different sized-the distance between the lower edge of the board and the table top can be increased or decreased. and therefore I do not wish to limit myself to any particular means or manner of supporting and adjusting the board in respect to the table top as I am aware that various changes can be made without departing from the spirit of my invention.

In Figure 1I have shown the board arranged in a` vertical position and I accomplish this by arranging both wedges to the rear of the board so as to hold it firmly against the front wall of the slot of the standards 'I and 8 and the wedge I6 is of such a size that it supports the lower edge of the rebounding board I5 at substantially the same height as the height of the top of a net used on a standard ping pong table so that any ball struck by a player which fails to strike the rebounding board would in the playing of a ping pong game strike the net and any ball which goes over or above the board in playing a game `of ping pong would fail to land on the table on the other side of the net in playing the ordinary game of ping pong whereby it will be apparent that in playing my game all the skill required to vplay-ping pong will be maintained, and in reality, a much faster game will be produced.

In order to prevent the misplayed balls, which fail to strike the rebounding board, from scattering all over thevroom in which the game is being played, I provide the standards with headed pins I9 for supporting a net 20 which catches all of the balls and causes them to drop onto the table top where they can be readily retrieved by the player or players as the case may be, thereby dispensing, toi a great extent, with the necessity of 5 retrieving the balls when playing the game of ping pong for the reason that vany ball that fails to be played properly is caught by the net while in the game of ping pong in all probability it would land on the oor.

From the foregoing description it will be seen that I have provided a game of ping pong which can be playedrst on a table of half the size of a regulation ping pong table, thereby enabling the game to be played in small homes and when in 15 use in connection with ping pong parlors twice the number of ping pong tables can be placed in a room over those which could be placed therein usinga regulation ping pong table. Second, I have provided an attachment for a ping pong 20 table which provides a practicing device for al ping pong player as he can practice difficult shots by placing my attachment on an ordinary ping po-ng table. Third, I have provided a game which can be played by an individual, and fourth, I have 25 provided a game which has means for adjusting the same so as to increase and decrease the speed and skill required to play the game so that those not skilled in playing ping pong can adjust thel board to make a slow game and those skilled in 30 the art can adjust the rebounding board to make a fast game and with all of these various adjustments and advantages obtained, I still provide al game of ping pong whichY has all of the advantages of the regulation game of ping pong. While I have shown and described a game consisting of a table and the rebounding board, I do not wish to limit myself to a small area table, nor do I wish to limit myself to va rebounding board as I am awareY that the rebounding board when placed .in position upon an'ordina'ry ping pong table or other table produces a game having the same advantages as my game and therefore, I reserve theright to the use of a rebounding board in connection with any size Vand style of table which is so positioned in a plane above the table that it win cause a bau to rebound on the tame so that it can bestruck again by the player.

In playing a game of ping pong with my improved construction of ping pong table, the rebounding board is adjusted so that the lower horizontal edge of the. same will be at a distance above the table top equal to the top of the net now employed in connection with ping pong tables and as the board is of such a height that any ball which strikes the board would pass over the net and land on the other side of a net of a regula.- tion ping pong table, the player with his paddle serves against the board and if Ythe Vball is properly played against the board,` it would be deflected so as to rebound into the court of his opponent and the opponent then attempts to strike the ball withV his paddle so as to drive it against the board so that it `will be deflected intohis opponents court. ,Y

As long as the shots Yare perfectly played and the ball strikes the rebounding board at the proper angle, it Will be deflected therefrom into the proper courts and as the ball striking the rebounding board is deected with increased speed, 7.0.Y naturally the vwell placed shots and hard or powerful strokes with the paddle to drive the ball against the rebounding board will have the same results as a well placed or powerful shot in the ordinary game ofping pong; l 72%.

As a construction of ping pong table as clearly illustrated and described in this application can be played by an individual as Well as by two people, naturally it has many advantages over prior constructions of the ordinary game of ping pong as in reality it allows the game of ping pong to be played by an individual and also provides a game which allows the ping pong player to practice his shots as my improved construction of rebounding board could be positioned upon an ordinary ping pong table and the player could practice ping pong by himself.

While I have shown and described certain details of construction, I do 4not wish to limit myself to any particular manner of forming the table or any particular manner of supporting the rebounding board as my invention consists broadly in providing a game of ping pong by arranging above the playing surface of a ping pong table or other table a rebounding board against which a ping pong ball is adapted to be driven by a player so as to cause it to rebound onto the playing surface.

What I claim is:

1. A table tennis game comprising a table, a pair of obliquely arranged supports detachably mounted on s aid table at-one end, a rebounding board carried by said supports and a net connecting said supports and supported thereby in an inclined position and forming inclined means for returning said ball to the player.

2. A table tennis game comprising a table, a

pair of obliquely arranged supports detachably mounted on said table adjacent one end, said supports being provided with vertically disposed slots, a rebounding board loosely mounted in said slots, members for holding said board in adjusted position within said slots and a net connecting the rear edges of said supports and supported thereby in an inclined position for catching the ball and by the inclination thereof returning the same to the opposite end of said table.

3. A table tennis game comprising a table, a pair of obliquely arranged supports carried by said table, a rebounding board mounted on said 5 supportsand a net connected to the rear edges of said supports in an inclined position for catching a ball and by the inclination thereof returning the same to the opposite end of said table.

4. A table tennis game comprising a table, a pair of supports arranged at one end of said table, said supports being provided with vertically disposed slots, a board loosely mounted in said slots to allow said board to be adjusted vertically and horizontally therein and members disposed between the walls of said slots and said board for fastening said board in adjusted position.

5. A table tennis game comprising a table, a pair off supports detachably mounted on said table, said supports being provided with vertically disposed slots, a rebounding board loosely mounted in said slots for vertical and horizontal adjustment, means disposed to each side of said board for fastening said board in adjusted position and an obliquely disposed net connecting said supports to catch the ball and return the same to the player standing adjacent said table.

6. A table tennis game comprising a table, a pair of obliquely arranged supports carried by said table adjacent one end, said supports being provided with vertically disposed slots, a rebounding board loosely mounted in said slots and capable of moving horizontally and vertically therein, a wedge-shaped member for fastening said board in adjusted position and a net disposed on the rear edge of said supports in an inclined position for catching and returning the ball to the forward edge of said table.
