This invention relates to improvements in eyelash curlers.

Most eyelash curlers in present use are difiicult to handle during operation. Also if the resilient member or lower jaw utilized for facilitating the crimping of the eyelash is worn or dried out, there is provided no available means for easily renewing this part, without distorting the device.

Since a device of this kind is to be handled for a delicate operation, it should be accurate and at the same time be sturdy requiring a minimum number of parts.

It is an object of my invention, to provide an eyelash curler with a removable and renewable compression bar or jaw.

It is another object of my invention, to provide for an eyelash curler, where the parts are made of stamped metal, thereby enhancing the strength as well as the appearance of the device.

It is another object of the invention, to make the device work with a steady hand by having the parts slide up and down, and constructed such as to give the minimum amount of play possible and still make the operation easy.

These advantageous features and further objects are accomplished by the novel and practical construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter disclosed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, constituting an essential part of the disclosure, and in which:

The numerals l5 and I6 represent two members, upper and lower respectively, each properly stamped from a single piece of material, both members having outwardly stamped cooperating ridges 35, 34, respectively, for facilitating longitudinal sliding movement, one relative to the other, the ridges also providing rigidity to the device when in operation.

The lower member l6 comprises a handle l0 pierced to provide a finger hold H, the edge of 1934, Serial No. 714,377 (01. 132-32) the piercing being turned to provide a smooth rim l2; and a forked portion consisting of two upright elements ll, l8. The upper portion of elements ll, i8 are bent out right above slots I9 and 25 to provide clearance for the upper part 5 of upper member l5, Eyelets 22 and 23 are stamped out of the upper portions, which accommodate the ends 24 and 25 of the removable jaw 2t. Removable jaw 26 consists of a U shaped portion 21, whose ends 24 and 25 are flattened out and over which is placed a resilient tubing 28.

Uppen member I5 comprises the curling bar or jaw 33 bent upward and outward to conform in general to the contour of removable bar or jaw 26; and a handle it pierced to provide a finger hold 29, the edge of the piercing being turned to provide a smooth rim 30. Above the finger hold piercing or opening is a finger rest 3| which has a bent-over portion 32 to provide a smooth edge. 20

A guide l3 holds members l5 and I6 in slidable engagement. The jaws 26 and 33 coact to perform the eyelash curling operation in the usual manner.

In the accompanying drawing I have illustrated the invention embodied in one of its practical commerical forms but as this illustration is primarily for purposes of disclosure it will be understood that the invention is not limited to this particular form of structure and that it may be modified in many respects without departure from the true spirit and scope of the invention as herein defined and claimed. I wish it further understood that the terms which I have employed herein are used in a descriptive rather than in a limitative sense, except however for such limitations that may be imposed by the state of the prior art.

I claim:-

1. An eyelash curler comprising two members, each stamped from a single piece of material, both members having cooperating interfitting longitudinal ridges between the side edges thereof for facilitating longitudinal sliding movement, one relative to the other, and a relatively narrow guide to hold the members in slidable engagement.

2. An eyelash curler having two coacting jaws between which the eyelash may be inserted for the curling operation, one of said jaws being bodily removable, the removable jaw comprising a substantially U-shaped member with the open side cooperating with the other jaw, and a resilient tubular element encompassing said member to facilitate the curling operation.

3. An eyelash curler comprising two members, each stamped from a single piece of material, both members having cooperating ridges for facilitating longitudinal sliding movement, one relative to the other, a guide to hold the members in slidable engagement, coacting jaws for the members, each member being pierced to provide a finger hold, the edge of the piercing being turned to provide a smooth rim.

An eyelash curler comprising two'members, upper and lower respectively, each stamped from a single piece of material, both members having cooperating ridges for facilitating longitudinal sliding movement, one relative to the other, a guide to hold the members in slidable engagement, coacting jaws for the members, each-memher being pierced to provide a finger hold, the

edge of the piercing being turned to provide a smooth rim, the upper member being provided with a finger rest.

5. An eyelash curler comprising cooperating members, one of said members having spaced portions, each of said spaced portions having an eyelet therein, and a jaw removably mounted in said eyelets, the other of said members having a 5 jaw cooperating with said removable jaw.

An eyelash curler embodying cooperating members between which the eyelashes are shaped, one of said members embodying a projecting edge, the othermember provided with an element hav- 10 ing an openingadapted to be positioned to receive said edge, means mounting said element for free removal and a removable resilient element carried by the first said element, a portion of said resil'i'entelement extending across said opening, 5 said; portion adapted to be forced by said edge into said opening when the eyelashes are between said edge and the said portion of the resilient element. 7
