1 Claim.

This invention relates to flashlight attachments for gasoline hose nozzles, and more particularly to a bracket for removably securing a flashlight to a gasoline hose nozzle, and has for the primary object the provision of a device of this character which will permit easy and quick adjustment of the flashlight with respect to the discharge end of the nozzle so that rays of light may be directed into the fuel tank of a motor vehicle when the nozzle is positioned to fill the tank to permit the operator to readily see when the tank is substantially filled for preventing running over of the fuel from the tank and marring the finish V of the motor vehicle as well as reducing the possibility of wasting of the fuel.

With these and other objects in view, this invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed. I

For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view showing my invention supporting a flashlight to a gasoline hose nozzle so that the rays of light from the flashlight will be directed into the tank when the nozzle is inserted.- into the filling neck.

Figure 2 is a perspective view illustrating the bracket.

Figure 3 is an end view, partly in section, illustrating the same.

Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral l indicates a fragmentary portion of a conventional type of gasoline hose nozzle adapted to be inserted in the filling neck 2 of a fuel tank 3 when desiring to fill the latter with fuel.

frictional type pivots links 5 each carrying a split clamp 6. The pivots between the links 5 and the clamp 6 are of the frictional type. The clamps encircle a flashlight I so that the illuminating end of the flashlight will be disposed in the direction of the discharge end of the nozzle whereby the light rays will be directed into the tank 3 by way of the filling neck, permitting the operator to readily judge approximately the amount of fuel in the tank and also to watch the filling operation to prevent overflowing of the tank.

The links 5 permit the flashlight l to be readily adjusted With respect to the nozzle and the construction of the clamp 4 is such that the latter carrying the flashlight may be readily applied and removed from the nozzle when desired.

The clamp 4 consists of an elongated body or strip 8 and formed integrally with the ends thereof are oppositely extending coiled portions 9 connected at their adjacent ends by an ear ID. The ear forms an integral part of the coiled portions 9 and is apertured to receive an adjusting bolt H which also extends through the body or strip 8 and has threaded thereto a nut I 2 whereby the coiled portions may be caused to clamp or release the nozzle I.

Having described the invention, I claim:

A bracket comprising split clamps to encircle a flashlight, links frictionally and pivotally connected to the clamps, an elongated body frictionally and pivotally connected to the links, coiled portions formed integrally with the body and extending in the direction of each other and terminating in an ear, and a fastener adjustably ROBERT L.
