It will now be understood that the user may remove the lipstick holder, hold the cover in one hand and then use the lipstick, mirroring her lips in the mirror II.

In Figs. 8 and 9 there is shown a modified construction. The device Illa shown in Figs. 8 and 9 comprises a holder He and a cover I2a. The holder I la is similar to the holder I I except that the former is provided with a central slot 240 instead of a slot located on one side as in the latter. The cover Ila is provided with a rear wall III, sidewalls ii and a top wall 52, and is open at the bottom. The front wall of the cover is in the form of a plate 53 having a mirrored inner surface and is hinged, as at 54, to the front edge of the top wall 52. A coil torsion spring 55 mounted on the hinged pin normally tends to retain the plate 53 in the upstanding vertical position shown in the dot dash lines of Fig. 9 with the inner mirrored surface thereof exposed. The plate 53, however, is provided with a lug 51 at the lower end thereof adapted to be received within the slot a for retaining the same in folded position. It will now be understood that upon removing the cover, the torsion spring 55 will lift the plate 53 so that the inner mirrored surface thereof is exposed to view for use.

It will thus be seen that there is provided a device in which the several objects of this invention are achieved, and which is well adapted to meet the conditions of practical use.

As various possible embodiments might be made of the above invention, and as various changes might be made in the embodiments set forth, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawing, is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

Having thus described my invention, 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. In combination with a device of the character described, comprising, a cosmetic holder, and a cover therefor, a mirror disposed within said cover and hinged thereto, spring means for pivotally moving said mirror with respect to said cover to eject said mirror from said cover, and means on said holder for retaining said mirror within said cover against the action of said spring means.

2. In combination, a lipstick holder comprising a base, a tubular member extending upwardly therefrom, said base having a ledge at the upper end thereof, a cover telescoping with said tubular member and having a longitudinal slot, and a pin fixed to a wall of said cover, a mirror hinged to said pin, said mirror being disposed within said cover and adapted to move through said slot, a torsion spring on said pin adaped to move said mirror out of said slot, and said base having a slot extending in the ledge thereof, said mirror being provided with a projection adapted to be received within said base slot upon assembling the holder with the cover to retain the mirror within said cover.

3. In combination with a cosmetic holder having a cover therefor, a mirror hinged to said cover, means on said holder for retaining the mirror within said cover, and said mirror being pivotally movable out of said cover upon withdrawing the cover from said holder.

4. In combination with a lipstick holder having a separable cover open at the bottom for telescoping therewith, a. mirror on said cover normally hidden from view and spring means for moving said mirror to exposed position upon removing the cover from the holder.

5. In combination, a lipstick holder, 9, cover therefor, a member having a mirrored surface disposed between said cover and said holder when the holder is covered, said holder having means to retain said member within said cover when said holder and cover are assembled and spring means for moving said member relatively to said cover to expose said mirrored surface upon disassembling said cover and holder.

6. In a device of the character described, a holder comprising a base and a tubular portion extending therefrom, a separable cover receiving said tubular portion, one wall of said cover being hinged thereto and tending normally to turn outwardly therefrom, and coacting means on said wall and holder for retaining said wall in closed position.

In a. device of the character described, a holder comprising a base and a tubular portion extending therefrom, a separable cover receiving said tubular portion, one wall of said cover being hinged thereto and adapted to be turned outwardly therefrom, coacting means on said wall and holder for retaining said wall in closed position, and spring means for pivotally moving said wall to expose the inner surface thereof upon removal of the cover from said holder.

8. In combination with a lipstick holder having a separable cover therefor, a member having a mirrored surface disposed between said cover and said holder when the holder and cover are in assembled relationship, means for retaining said member in said last named position, and spring means for automatically moving said member relatively to said cover to expose said mirrored surface upon disassembling said cover and holder.

9. In combination with a lipstick holder having a separable cover adapted to be slidably connected thereto, a member having a mirrored surface disposed inside of said cover, said member being pivotally mounted to said cover, and means whereby a predetermined amount of sliding of the cover away from the holder will cause said member to be pivotally swung to a position outside of said cover at an angle to its former position.
