Description

H. MCCARTY March 31, 1936.
CONTAINER Filed March l5, 1935 Patented Mar. 31, 1936 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention relates to a container provided with an accessory cup which is firmly secured to the underside of the container cap, and which can readily be detached and replaced. The object of the invention is to provide a convenient means for carrying a drinking cup as a component part of the container.
The invention will be readily'understood from the following description of the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the liquid container.
Fig. 2 is a section taken on lines 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view of the container cap and attached cup.
Fig. 4 is a side elevation of the cup.
Fig. 5 is a bottom plan view of the cap.
Fig. 6 is a. bottom plan View of the cup.
Referring to the drawing: a container I of a cylindrical form is shouldered at II to form a neck I2; a flanged ledge I3 projects outwardly from the neck I2 near its center, and the neck above said ledge I3 is threaded at I4. A cap I which is threaded at I6 and grooved at I'I has inwardly projecting opposing flanges I8 and I 9, undercut at 2li and 2|.
A cup 22, having a shouldered base 23 from which projects a pair of ribs or lugs 24 and 25 is securely mounted by means of said lugs 24 and 25 within the cap I5; the ribs 24 are pressed down within the spaces 26 between the flanges I8 and I9 and the cup 22 is then turned until said lugs 24 and 25 are in the undercuts 20 and 2l between the fianges I8 and I9 and the body of the cap I5. The cap is then screwed down upon the threaded portion I4 of the neck I2. 'Ihus the cap I5, 'containing the cup 22, may be removed from the container I0, liquid from said container may be poured within the cup 22, which may be detached from the cap I5 or left within 5 the cap as desired. The cup is carried within the container as shown in Fig. 2. A washer 21 inserted within the groove I1 prevents leaking as the cap is screwed securely upon the. neck of the container.
While certain features of my invention are more or less specifically described, I wish it understood that various changes may be resorted to within the scope of the appended claim, and furthermore that the materials and finish of the l5 several parts employed may be such as the varying conditions of use may demand.
I claim:
A container having an externally threaded neck, a screw cap fitting over and engaging the threads of the neck, the inside of the top of the cap having spaced undercut flanges projecting therefrom, and a cup detachably connected to and within the cap, the side wall of the cup being spaced from the side wall of the cap, whereby the cup is adapted to enter within the said neck when the cap is screwed thereon, the bottom of the cup fittingagainst the inside of the top of the cap, said bottom having spaced circumferential flanges in the plane. of said bottom and engageable under the said flanges by a turning movement, to hold the cup attached to the cap.
