IMPROVEMENT lN DUS T-PANS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 202,357, dated April 16, 1878; application filed A October 10, 1877.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EDGAR EBENEZER MANN, of the city of Lawrence, in the county of Essex, and in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, of the United States of America, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Dust-Pans, (an apparatus for removing dust, dirt, and other matter from the'floors of dwellings, offices, stores, and elsewhere,) of which the following is a specification:

The invention consists of an improved dustpan, arranged with a chamber at its base as a receptacle for dust, dirt, and other matter, at one end of which is a door, by which means the chamber can be emptied of its contents at will. A is an inclined plane, over which the dust, dirt, or other substance is conveyed to the chamber. B is the chamber. 0 is the cavity or chamber for brush and cloth. D is the door by which, when opened,the chamber is emptied of its contents. E is a horizontal bottom, which forms bottom of chamber for brush and dirt-cavity, and gives support to the inclined plane above. F is the handle. G is a small ring. H is the cap leading to chamber below, which turns up at the inlet, as seen by dotted lines in Fig. 2.

Having thus described my said invention and its utility, I claim as new, and desire to Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the secure Letters Patent for Manns Improved.
