  • (J) DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new throwing-game target apparatus embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6 , the gliding disc game assembly 10 generally comprises a frame 12. The frame 12 has a ground base 14. The ground base 14 is a square-shaped tube 16. The ground base 14 has a pair of ends 18. A pair of vertical bases 20 is positioned on a respective one of the pair of ends 18 of the ground base 14 and protrudes out therefrom. Each of the vertical bases 20 is the square-shaped tube 16. Each of the vertical bases 20 is parallel to each other and the pair of vertical bases 20 is perpendicular relative to the ground base 14.
  • Each of the vertical bases 20 has a plurality of ports 22. Each of the ports 22 is an indent in each of the vertical bases 20. The plurality of ports 22 of each of the vertical bases 20 is coplanar to each other. Each of the vertical bases 20 has an upper end 24. Each end 26 of a pair of ends 26 of an upper base 30 is coupled to a respective one of the upper end 24 of each of the vertical bases 20. The upper base 30 is the square-shaped tube 16. The upper base 30 is parallel relative to the ground base 14. The frame 12 is configured for having a rectangular shape.
  • Each stand 32 of a pair of stands 32 is a rectangular shape. Each of the stands 32 has a peripheral surface 34 and a ground surface 36. The peripheral surface 34 of each of the stands 32 has a center 38. A lower end 40 of each of the vertical bases 20 is coupled to the center 38 of the peripheral surface 34 of each of the stands 32. The pair of stands 32 is positioned perpendicular relative to the pair of vertical bases 20. The ground surface 36 of each of the stands 32 has a center 42. Each stake 44 of a pair of stakes 44 is protruding out from the center 42 of the ground surface 36 of each of the stands 32. The pair of stakes 44 is configured for being inserted into the ground whereby anchoring the frame 12. The pair of stakes 44 retains the frame 12 in a fixed position relative to the ground.
  • A pair of rungs 46 is configured for being positioned in a center area 48 of the frame 12. Each of the rungs 46 is the square-shaped tube 16. Each of the rungs 46 has a pair of inputs 50 at a respective one of each end 52 of a pair of ends 52 of each of the rungs 46. Each of the inputs 50 is complementary to each of the ports 22 of the pair of vertical bases 20. The pair of inputs 50 of each of the rungs 46 is configured for being inserted into a respective one of the plurality of ports 22 of each of the vertical bases 20. The pair of rungs 46 is configured for being positioned lateral to the frame 12 whereby the pair of rungs 46 is parallel relative to the ground base 14 and to the upper base 30. The pair of rungs 46 can be interchanged along the pair of vertical bases 20 whereby creating a variety of score posts 28.
  • A goal 54 is positioned on a top 56 of the upper base 30 of the frame. The goal is a pair of poles 58 positioned on the top 56 of the upper base 30. Each of the poles 58 protrudes upward from the upper base 30. Each of the poles 58 has an end 60. A goal base 62 is coupled to the end 60 of each of the poles 58. The goal base 62 is positioned parallel to the upper base 30. The goal base 62 and the pair of poles 58 create a rectangular shape of the goal 54. The goal 54 has a center space 64. The center space 64 defines a space for a gliding disc to fly through.
  • A disc 66 is the throwing device of the gliding disc game assembly 10. The disc 66 is a circular gliding disc and is configured for gliding through the air when thrown by a user. The disc 66 is configured for being able to fit through the center space 64 of the goal 54. The disc 66 can be a known item, such as a Frisbee.
  • In use, a pair of frames 68 is set up facing each other from forty feet apart. The pair of stakes 44 of each of the frames 68 is inserted into the ground to retain each of the frames 68 in a fixed position. The user positions the pair of rungs 46 in the center area 48 of each of the frames 68 to the variety of score posts 28. Each of the score posts 28 represents a different amount of points awarded to a team when the disc 66 is flown through. Each team takes turns tossing the disc 66 towards the opposite frame 12. The first team to obtain twenty-one points or fly the disc 66 through the center space 64 of the goal 54 will win the game.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
