  • a method comprises: receiving, at a policy control function and over a first radio interface, a policy association request for a corresponding user equipment; obtaining a subscription profile for the user equipment, wherein the subscription profile comprises a default discontinuous reception configuration for a second radio interface; determining configuration information for communications over the second radio interface for the first user equipment; and transmitting the configuration information to the user equipment via non-access stratum control plane signaling over the first radio interface.
  • an apparatus comprising a policy and control function.
  • the apparatus further comprises: a receiver that receives, over a first radio interface, a policy association request for a corresponding user equipment; a processor that: obtains a subscription profile for the user equipment, wherein the subscription profile comprises a default discontinuous reception configuration for a second radio interface; and determines configuration information for communications over the second radio interface for the first user equipment; and a transmitter that transmits the configuration information to the user equipment via non-access stratum control plane signaling over the first radio interface.
