Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device for tape application at least partially adhesive tape
- a support comprising handling means, a reel-holder attached to the support, configured to loosely support a reel including the tape and defining a first rotation axis around which the reel rotates, a tensioner configured to dispense the tape under tension, defining a second rotation axis parallel to the first rotation axis and including: a roller rotating around the second rotation axis, spaced with respect to the reel-holder and configured to dispense the tape when rotated with respect to the surface and a spacer configured to connect the roller and the reel-holder, the support separating the reel-holder and the tensioner from the handling means in such a way that when the handling means rest on at least one wall, and the tensioner dispenses the tape on a surface, only the handling means face the wall.
- the present invention relates to a device capable of facilitating the arrangement of adhesive tape along particular surfaces, such as those of skirting boards or baseboard, and making operations such as, for example, painting of walls faster.
- this operation is performed manually by an operator and requires the placement of adhesive tape on the upper surface of the baseboard in such a way to prevent the dye of the wall from dripping onto such surface. If necessary or if desired, the tape can also be folded in such a way that adheres also to the lateral surface of the baseboard.
- the U.S. Pat. No. 3,871,940 describes a tape holder device including a roller tensioner suitable for allowing the running of the tape and its arrangement along a substantially linear path.
- the device comprises, in addition, rollers suitable for being placed on a wall and for allowing the translation of the same device parallel to the wall.
- the U.S. Pat. No. 6,684,926 describes a device similar to the previous one, but comprising, in particular, a grip suitable for allowing the running of the tape in a comfortable way. Also, in this case, the tape is being run by a roller tensioner and directed by tensioner and by a second roller along a substantially rectilinear direction and parallel to the upper surface of the baseboard.
- both devices include a roller tensioner and a second roller suitable for allowing the arrangement of the tape and support the entire device on the upper surface of the baseboard.
- both devices are rather unstable since, although respectively equipped with rollers for wall support and for handling, they are supported vertically only by the upper surface of the baseboard which is very thin.
- the technical task at the base of the present invention is to design a device for applying tape, preferably at least partially adhesive, capable of substantially resolving at least part of the aforementioned drawbacks.
- Another important aim of the invention is to make a device that allows of tape application on small surfaces in a very rapid way.
- a further task of the invention is to accelerate, for example, the painting operations of walls.
- a device for applying at least partially adhesive tape comprising a support comprising handling means, a reel-holder attached to the support, configured to loosely support a reel including the tape and defining a first rotation axis around which the reel rotates, a tensioner configured to dispense the tape under tension, defining a second rotation axis parallel to the first rotation axis and including: a roller rotating around the second rotation axis, spaced with respect to the reel-holder and configured to dispense the tape when rotated with respect to the surface and a spacer configured to connect the roller and the reel-holder, the support separating the reel-holder and the tensioner from the handling means in such a way that when the handling means rest on at least one wall, and the tensioner dispenses the tape on a surface, only the handling means face the wall and the spacer is attached to the reel-holder by means of a hinge and opposing means configured to oppose the reciprocal rotation of the coil-holder and the spacer, around the hinge.
- FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of the preferred execution of a device for application of adhesive tape according to the invention during the laying of the tape on the top of a baseboard, or rather a first surface;
- FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of a second execution of a device for application of adhesive tape according to the invention during the laying of tape on the lateral wall of a baseboard or of a wall, or rather a second surface;
- FIG. 3 shows a perspective view of a further alternative execution of a device for application of adhesive tape according to the invention including cutting means and a limit lock;
- FIG. 4 shows a perspective view of a further alternative execution of a device for application of adhesive tape according to the invention including cutting means, a limit lock and a tape with paper reel attached and wherein the tensioner is almost entirely hidden.
- the measurements, values, shapes and geometric references (such as perpendicularity and parallelism), when associated with words like “about” or other similar terms such as “approximately” or “substantially”, are to be considered as except for measurement errors or inaccuracies due to production and/or manufacturing errors, and, above all, except for a slight divergence from the value, measurements, shape, or geometric reference with which it is associated.
- these terms if associated with a value, preferably indicate a divergence of not more than 10% of the value.
- the device for application of adhesive tape according to the invention is globally indicated with the number 1 .
- the device 1 is configured to allow the laying of tape 10 on a surface 12 .
- the tape 10 is tape of at least partially adhesive type. Therefore, when the tape 10 comes into contact with an object, in particular the surface 12 , along the adhesive side, it constrains directly to the object.
- the tape 10 can be of various kinds; it can be of any material, paper, polymer, fabric or yet other, and can be figured with at least one entirely adhesive side, or with part, for example a strip, of a one side adhesive. Further, the tape 10 may include a strip of tape and reel of paper attached, as shown in FIG. 4 .
- the surface 12 can be of any type. For example, it can be part of a floor, for example an upper surface of a step, or part of a ceiling, or even a wall.
- the surface 12 is the upper surface of a baseboard or skirting board. However, the surface 12 may also be the lateral surface of the baseboard or the skirting board. In this sense, the surface 12 is therefore distinguished in a first surface 12 a and a second surface 12 b.
- the first surface 12 a is preferably a surface 12 that is thin. Furthermore, it is preferably parallel to a wall 11 .
- the wall 11 if the surface 12 or 12 a is a part of a baseboard, can be consist of the floor. Alternatively, if the surface 12 or 12 b is an upper surface of a step, the wall 11 can be the upper surface of the step below.
- the second surface 12 b can be even more extensive. It is preferably perpendicular to the wall 11 .
- the surface 12 or 12 b can be a side wall of a baseboard or skirting board or even a real wall perpendicular to the wall 11 .
- the device 1 comprises a support 2 and a reel-holder 3 .
- the support 2 is preferably adapted to support the reel-holder 3 .
- handling means 20 it preferably comprises handling means 20 .
- the handling means 20 are configured to allow the handling of the support 2 placed on at least the wall 11 .
- the handling means 20 can be various kinds. They can be rolling elements, for example spheres, constrained in a compliant way to support 2 . Or they can be tracks. Preferably, the handling means 20 include wheels.
- These wheels can be, therefore, rotatable along an axis perpendicular to the wall 11 , when the device 1 rests on the wall 11 , or they can be fixed.
- the wheels allow, in any case, handling of the support 2 , placed on the wall 11 , along at least one direction.
- the support 2 defines a handling plane 2 a .
- the handling place 2 a naturally comprises aforementioned direction, if the handling means 20 are wheels.
- the handling plane 2 a along which the support 2 moves is parallel to the wall 11 .
- the support 2 may, furthermore, have any form or dimension.
- the support 2 includes a support portion 25 .
- the support portion 25 preferably defines a flat surface perpendicular to the handling plane 2 a .
- the support portion 25 is suitable for being placed in contact with an auxiliary wall, for example the lateral surface of a baseboard or skirting board or a wall, substantially perpendicular to the wall 11 , so as to further stabilise the handling of the support on a wall 11 .
- the support portion 25 forms an edge suitable for guiding the support 2 along a predetermined direction parallel to said auxiliary wall.
- the support portion 25 includes a soft, a little porous surface, suitable for containing the friction between the auxiliary wall and the support surface 25 to facilitate the handling of the support 2 .
- the support 2 comprises a plate 23 .
- the plate 23 preferably extends parallel to the handling plane 2 a . Therefore, it is preferably suitable for placing itself parallel to the wall 11 and the handling means 20 are preferably arranged between the plate 23 and the wall 11 when the device 1 is in use.
- the support 2 preferably defines a trolley.
- the handling means 20 are wheels and the support 2 comprises the plate 23 , the wheels are constrained to the plane 23 on the opposite side with respect to the reel-holder 3 .
- the reel-holder 3 is preferably constrained to the support 2 .
- the reel-holder 3 moreover, is preferably configured for supporting a reel 100 in a compliant way.
- the reel 100 is substantially a roll including rolled-up tape 10 .
- the reel-holder 3 also defines a first axis of rotation 3 c.
- the first axis of rotation 3 c is preferably the axis around which the reel 100 rotates. Furthermore, the rotation axis 3 c substantially defines the running direction of the tape 10 .
- the handling means 20 are configured for allowing the handling, in a plane parallel to the first axis of rotation 3 c , of the support 2 placed on the wall 11 , while the device 1 is in use.
- This plane is, preferably, the handling planes 2 a .
- the deice 1 is capable of positioning the tape on a surface 12 defining the characteristics, in particular, of the first surface 12 a.
- the handling means 20 are configured for allowing the handling, in a plane perpendicular to the first axis of rotation 3 c , of support 2 placed on the wall 11 , while the device 1 is in use.
- the device 1 is suitable for positioning the tape on a surface 12 defining the characteristics, in particular, of the second surface 12 b.
- the reel-holder 3 in particular, can be constrained in a fixed way to the support 2 , for example at a predetermined distance with respect to the plate 23 .
- the reel-holder 3 is constrained to the support 2 in such a way that the position of the reel-holder 3 with respect to the support 2 can be modified in a controlled manner.
- the reel-holder 3 is stably constrained on the support 2 and remains fixed during the use of the device 1 , but it is removable with respect to the support 2 on command.
- the reel-holder 3 is constrained in a compliant way to the support 2 in such a way that can be moved, in a controlled manner, with respect to the support 2 along at least a first direction 3 a.
- the first direction 3 a is preferably perpendicular to the handling plane 2 a .
- the support 2 may include a first guide 21 .
- the first guide 21 can be a rail on which the reel-holder 3 can move.
- the first guide 21 can be a substantially tubular element, as shown in FIG. 1 , on which the reel-holder 3 slides along the first direction 3 a.
- the reel-holder 3 can therefore include a cursor suitable for moving along first guide 21 so as to translate along the first direction 3 a.
- Stops and cursors of this type are well known in the current state of the art. Naturally, stops may be provided, for example on the cursor of the reel-holder 3 , suitable for blocking the reel-holder 3 at heights predetermined by the user. Stops of this type are widely known and may consist, for example, of simple bolts screwable onto threaded screws suitable for producing sufficient friction to lock the reel-holder 3 with respect to the first guide 21 .
- the reel-holder 3 is preferably movable, in a controlled manner, with respect to the support 2 along the second direction 3 b .
- the second direction 3 b is parallel to the handling plane 2 a .
- the reel-holder 3 can therefore be moved with respect to the support 2 along the first direction 3 a , or along the second direction 3 b , or along both directions 3 a , 3 b .
- the reel-holder 3 in this configuration, can be moved with respect to both directions 3 a , 3 b .
- the support 2 comprises a second guide 22 .
- the second guide 22 preferably is directly connected to the first guide 21 .
- the reel-holder 3 moves along the first direction 3 a on the first guide 21 and the first guide 21 moves along the second direction 3 b on the second guide 22 in a manner such as to allow the movement of the reel-holder 3 along the second direction 3 b with respect to the support 2 .
- the second guide 22 may have mechanisms similar to the first guide 21 . Therefore, substantially can comprise a rail within which a cursor can translate, preferably part of the first guide 21 . Furthermore, also the second guide 22 may include stops for the constraint of the first guide 21 .
- the first guide 21 is preferably a tubular element around which the reel-holder 3 is constrained.
- the first axis of rotation 3 c coincides with the first direction 3 a and is substantially defined by the first guide 21 .
- the reel-holder 3 can therefore be constrained in a way that is fixed with respect to the first guide 21 and allow the rotation of the reel 100 around the reel-holder 3 , or it may be constrained in a compliant way to the first guide 21 so as to rotate around the first axis of rotation 3 c.
- the reel 100 is constrained, by the use of the reel-holder 3 , to the first guide 21 in such a way to be rotatable around the first direction 3 a coinciding, in this case, with the first rotation axis 3 c.
- cursors and stops suitable for allowing the controlled movement of the reel-holder 3 on the first guide 21 so as to be able to adjust the distance between the reel-holder 3 and the support in a controlled manner.
- the reel 100 can rotate with respect to the reel-holder 3 and, therefore, the reel-holder 3 can be integral with the first guide 21 and behave as a sort of bearing, or part of the reel-holder 3 can rotate integrally with the reel 100 and therefore it is rotatable with respect to the first guide 21 .
- the device 1 preferably also comprises a tensioner 4 .
- the tensioner 4 is preferably constrained to one between the support 2 and the reel-holder 3 .
- the support 2 separates the reel-holder 3 and the tensioner 4 with respect to the handling means 20 in such a way that when the handling means 20 are placed on at least the wall 11 and the tensioner 4 dispenses the tape 10 on the surface, exclusively the handling means 20 face said wall 11 . Substantially, therefore, the reel-holder 3 and the tensioner 4 are arranged on opposite sides of the support 2 .
- the tensioner 4 is, in particular, configured to dispense tape 10 in tension. Therefore, preferably, the tape 10 , when the device 1 is in use, is unrolled by the reel 100 , passes in correspondence with the tensioner 4 and is situated preferably on the surface 12 , either a first surface 12 a or a second surface 12 b . Substantially, therefore, the handling means 20 are configured to allow the movement, in a plane parallel or perpendicular to the first axis of rotation 3 c , of the support 2 placed on at least one wall 11 while the tensioner 4 dispenses the tape 10 on the surface 12 , parallel to wall 11 in case it is a first surface 12 a and perpendicular to the wall 11 in case it is a second surface 12 b.
- the tensioner 4 in particular, preferably defines a second axis of rotation 4 a.
- the second axis of rotation 4 a is preferably parallel to the first axis of rotation 3 c , either in the first configuration wherein the first axis of rotation 3 c is perpendicular to the first direction 3 a , or in the second configuration wherein the first axis of rotation 3 c coincides with the first direction 3 a.
- the tensioner 4 therefore allows the tape 10 to rotate around the rotation axis 4 a in such a way that gets tensioned on the surface 12 , 12 a or 12 b.
- the tensioner 4 can therefore comprise a smooth tubular element suitable for allowing the sliding of the tape 10 .
- the tensioner 4 comprises a roller 40 .
- the roller 40 is preferably rotating around the second axis of rotation 4 a . Furthermore, it is spaced from the reel-holder 3 and configured to dispense tape 10 when put into rotation with respect to the surface 12 .
- the tensioner 4 preferably comprises a spacer 41 .
- the spacer 41 may comprise a bar, or a pair of bars. It is, in general, configured to connect the roller 40 to the reel-holder 3 . Even more in detail, the spacer 41 is connected to the reel-holder 3 by means of a hinge 42 .
- the hinge 42 preferably allows the spacer 41 to rotate with respect to the reel-holder 3 around the axis of the hinge 42 .
- the tensioner 4 also includes opposition means 43
- the opposition means 43 are preferably configured to oppose the mutual rotation, around the hinge 42 , of the reel-holder 3 and of the spacer 41 . Therefore, the roller 40 distributes the tape 10 by tensioning it and being able to oscillate slightly by means of the spacer 41 in opposition to the means of opposition 43 .
- Such opposition means 43 may include, therefore, a linear spring arranged between the reel-holder 3 and the tensioner 4 , or they can also include other devices such as a torsional spring arranged, for example, in correspondence of the hinge 42 .
- the support 2 also includes a stop 26 .
- the stop 26 is preferably configured to block the rotation of the tensioner 4 around the axis of the hinge 42 .
- the spacer 41 is constrained in a compliant way to the first guide 21 so as to be rotatable with respect to the first axis of rotation 3 c . Therefore, the blockage to rotation is achieved by the use the stop 26 , alternatively or in addition by the use of opposition means.
- the opposition means 43 in this configuration, are not present if the reel-holder 3 rotates integrally with the reel 100 .
- the device 1 can comprise a grip 24 .
- the grip 24 is configured to allow a user to drive the device 1 .
- Such grip 24 can be various kinds. It can, for example, be a handle, or a knob, and can be constrained, for example, to the plate 23 .
- the handle 24 is substantially a handlebar arranged perpendicular to the plate 23 and constrained to it.
- the grip 24 can, therefore, be fixed or mobile.
- the grip 24 is constrained in a compliant way to the support 2 .
- the grip 24 can be constrained by the use of a second guide 22 and be arranged in a sliding way on it.
- the device 1 can include also various auxiliary components, possibly are removable and mountable as desired on the support 2 .
- the device 1 can include cutting means 5 .
- the cutting means 5 are preferably configured to allow cut with a snatch, as occurs for common scotch-holders, of the tape 10 .
- the cutting means 5 include at least one blade 50 .
- the blade 50 is a cutting edge suitable for tearing the tape 10 in a precise manner.
- the blade 50 is arranged in such a way that laps the tape 10 , at the outlet of tensioner 4 , perpendicular to the direction of the tape 10 .
- the blade 50 is connected to the first guide 21 in such a way that is also adjustable.
- connection devices can be provided as already described, for example similar to the connector, and further cursors and clamps.
- the cutting means 5 can also be independently constrained to the support 2 , for example by the use of first guide 21 , or can be constrained to the reel-holder 3 itself.
- the cutting means 5 are constrained, directly or not, to the support 2 in such a way that the blade 50 results opposite, with respect to the first guide 21 , to the tensioner 4 , and overlapping on the outlet direction of the tape 10 from the tensioner 4 itself.
- the device 1 can comprise a limit lock 6 .
- the limit lock 6 is preferably configured to come into contact with an obstacle, for example a face of a wall in correspondence with a corner of a room, wherein the running of the device 1 may be interrupted, precisely, by the presence of a wall perpendicular to the driving direction of the device 1 .
- the limit lock 6 if present, is preferably configured, furthermore, to separate the obstacle and the cutting means 5 by at least a predetermined minimum distance in order to facilitate any cutting operations.
- the limit block 6 preferably includes a contact surface 60 .
- the contact surface 60 is preferably perpendicular both to the handling plane 2 a , and to the supporting portion 25 .
- the contact surface 60 stops the device itself so that the blade is separated from the obstacle by a predetermined distance.
- the limit lock 6 can be compliant to the support 2 , or to the reel-holder 3 , or to the cutting separated means 5 itselves in such a way that can be adjusted according to the requirements.
- the contact surface 60 can be moved on command to vary the predetermined distance between the contact surface 60 itself and the blade 50 along the driving direction of the device 1 .
- Either the cutting means 5 or and the limit lock 6 are, naturally, compatible with any embodiment, either the first or the second, by adapting simply the directions of the blade 50 rather than the contact surface 60 with respect to the support 2 or to the reel-holder or, in the second case, to the cutting means 5 themselves.
- the operation of the device 1 previously described in structural terms is as follows.
- the device 1 resting on the floor, can be placed side by side with a baseboard.
- the height of the reel-holder 3 can be adjusted and, consequently, the height of the tensioner 4 . In this way the arrangement of the tape 10 can be correctly guaranteed regardless of the height of the baseboard.
- the support can be moved, by the use of the grip 24 , along the extension of the baseboard.
- the grip 24 allows to move the device 1 itself substantially against the baseboard in one direction or in the opposite direction.
- the roller 40 of the tensioner 4 relatively rotating to the surface 12 , pulls the belt 10 under tension constraining, with a slight pressure, to the surface 12 . In this way, the procedure for placing the tape 10 is considerably speeded up.
- the device 1 for applying tape according to the invention achieves important advantages.
- the device 1 is configured in such a way that separates the deposition tools from the tape 10 , or rather the reel-holder 3 and the tensioner 4 , with respect to the handling means 20 so that the device 1 results always adjustable, for example by adjusting the distance between reel-holder 3 and the support 2 , according to any surface 12 , and eventually easily convertible between the various embodiments, considering that each component is removable, although of a considerable stability.
- the support portion 25 furthermore, stabilizes the device 1 by creating a sort of guide which allows to ulteriorly speed up the handling of the support 2 .
- the device 1 allows to reduce the laying of tape 10 by at least five or six times compared to common devices.
- the deposition of tape 10 also takes place in an optimal way since the support is made between the support 2 and the wall 11 and does not depend on the surface 12 alone and on the tensioners 4 or rollers for depositing the tape 10 .
- a further advantage is the fact that the obtained stability allows to increase the positioning accuracy and avoid defects, such as gluing errors, which can lead to undesired dripping of paint for example during the painting phases of the walls.
- the device 1 is preferably composed exclusively of support 2 , reel-holder 3 and tensioner 4 without further complicated components.
- the limit lock 6 may be arranged on the opposite side with respect to the cutting means 5 .
- the cutting means 5 may also be placed in the opposite direction with respect to what is shown in FIG. 3 .
- FIG. 1-3 are, in fact, only examples of embodiments which do not limit the making of alternative devices 1 wherein the various auxiliary components are located in different positions.

- The present invention relates to a device for tape application at least partially adhesive tape comprising a support comprising handling means, a reel-holder attached to the support, configured to loosely support a reel including the tape and defining a first rotation axis around which the reel rotates, a tensioner configured to dispense the tape under tension, defining a second rotation axis parallel to the first rotation axis and including: a roller rotating around the second rotation axis, spaced with respect to the reel-holder and configured to dispense the tape when rotated with respect to the surface and a spacer configured to connect the roller and the reel-holder, the support separating the reel-holder and the tensioner from the handling means in such a way that when the handling means rest on at least one wall, and the tensioner dispenses the tape on a surface, only the handling means face the wall.
- In particular, the present invention relates to a device capable of facilitating the arrangement of adhesive tape along particular surfaces, such as those of skirting boards or baseboard, and making operations such as, for example, painting of walls faster.
- Similar devices are described in patent documents WO-A-98/59115 e WO-A-2013/028732.
- As is known, in the context of workmanships such as, for example painting, it is necessary to preventively cover objects and any other surfaces with polymeric membranes and/or adhesive tape in order to avoid dirtying such objects and surfaces with the dye.
- One of the most difficult operations, especially relates to the speed of execution, is the covering of the baseboard or skirting boards.
- Normally, this operation is performed manually by an operator and requires the placement of adhesive tape on the upper surface of the baseboard in such a way to prevent the dye of the wall from dripping onto such surface. If necessary or if desired, the tape can also be folded in such a way that adheres also to the lateral surface of the baseboard.
- The main drawback of this technique, as already mentioned, is the fact that, like any completely manual operation, is carried out in a long time, slowing down the work of operators.
- It is known, however, some devices which facilitate this practice.
- In particular, the U.S. Pat. No. 3,871,940 describes a tape holder device including a roller tensioner suitable for allowing the running of the tape and its arrangement along a substantially linear path. The device comprises, in addition, rollers suitable for being placed on a wall and for allowing the translation of the same device parallel to the wall.
- The U.S. Pat.
- The known technique just described comprises some important drawbacks.
- In particular, both devices include a roller tensioner and a second roller suitable for allowing the arrangement of the tape and support the entire device on the upper surface of the baseboard.
- Therefore, both devices are rather unstable since, although respectively equipped with rollers for wall support and for handling, they are supported vertically only by the upper surface of the baseboard which is very thin.
- Therefore, although such devices facilitate the arrangement of the tape, they can anyway cause slowdowns due to falling of the device from baseboard or to the undesired oscillations of the support rollers that can cause incorrect contact between the tape and the baseboard.
- In this situation the technical task at the base of the present invention is to design a device for applying tape, preferably at least partially adhesive, capable of substantially resolving at least part of the aforementioned drawbacks.
- Within the scope said technical task, it is an important aim of the invention to obtain a device for applying tape which is stable and distributed in an optimal manner on thin surfaces such as those of the baseboard.
- Another important aim of the invention is to make a device that allows of tape application on small surfaces in a very rapid way.
- Consequently, a further task of the invention is to accelerate, for example, the painting operations of walls.
- The technical task and the specified aims are achieved by a device for applying at least partially adhesive tape comprising a support comprising handling means, a reel-holder attached to the support, configured to loosely support a reel including the tape and defining a first rotation axis around which the reel rotates, a tensioner configured to dispense the tape under tension, defining a second rotation axis parallel to the first rotation axis and including: a roller rotating around the second rotation axis, spaced with respect to the reel-holder and configured to dispense the tape when rotated with respect to the surface and a spacer configured to connect the roller and the reel-holder, the support separating the reel-holder and the tensioner from the handling means in such a way that when the handling means rest on at least one wall, and the tensioner dispenses the tape on a surface, only the handling means face the wall and the spacer is attached to the reel-holder by means of a hinge and opposing means configured to oppose the reciprocal rotation of the coil-holder and the spacer, around the hinge.
- The characteristics and the advantages of the invention are clarified below by the detailed description of preferred execution of the invention, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
- The
FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of the preferred execution of a device for application of adhesive tape according to the invention during the laying of the tape on the top of a baseboard, or rather a first surface; - The
FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of a second execution of a device for application of adhesive tape according to the invention during the laying of tape on the lateral wall of a baseboard or of a wall, or rather a second surface; - The
FIG. 3 shows a perspective view of a further alternative execution of a device for application of adhesive tape according to the invention including cutting means and a limit lock; and - The
FIG. 4 shows a perspective view of a further alternative execution of a device for application of adhesive tape according to the invention including cutting means, a limit lock and a tape with paper reel attached and wherein the tensioner is almost entirely hidden. - In the present document, the measurements, values, shapes and geometric references (such as perpendicularity and parallelism), when associated with words like “about” or other similar terms such as “approximately” or “substantially”, are to be considered as except for measurement errors or inaccuracies due to production and/or manufacturing errors, and, above all, except for a slight divergence from the value, measurements, shape, or geometric reference with which it is associated. For instance, these terms, if associated with a value, preferably indicate a divergence of not more than 10% of the value.
- Moreover, when used, terms such as “first”, “second”, “higher”, “lower”, “main” and “secondary” do not necessarily identify an order, a priority of relationship or a relative position, but can simply be used to clearly distinguish between their different components.
- The measurements and data reported in this text are to be considered, unless otherwise indicated, as performed in the International Standard Atmosphere ICAO (ISO 2533:1975).
- With reference to the drawings, the device for application of adhesive tape according to the invention is globally indicated with the
number 1. - The
device 1 is configured to allow the laying oftape 10 on asurface 12. - Preferably, the
tape 10 is tape of at least partially adhesive type. Therefore, when thetape 10 comes into contact with an object, in particular thesurface 12, along the adhesive side, it constrains directly to the object. - In this regard, a slight pressure is therefore sufficient, as it would be for laying of
tape 10 manually. - Naturally, the
tape 10 can be of various kinds; it can be of any material, paper, polymer, fabric or yet other, and can be figured with at least one entirely adhesive side, or with part, for example a strip, of a one side adhesive. Further, thetape 10 may include a strip of tape and reel of paper attached, as shown inFIG. 4 . Thesurface 12 can be of any type. For example, it can be part of a floor, for example an upper surface of a step, or part of a ceiling, or even a wall. Preferably, thesurface 12 is the upper surface of a baseboard or skirting board. However, thesurface 12 may also be the lateral surface of the baseboard or the skirting board. In this sense, thesurface 12 is therefore distinguished in a first surface 12 a and a second surface 12 b. - The first surface 12 a is preferably a
surface 12 that is thin. Furthermore, it is preferably parallel to awall 11. - The
wall 11, if thesurface 12 or 12 a is a part of a baseboard, can be consist of the floor. Alternatively, if thesurface 12 or 12 b is an upper surface of a step, thewall 11 can be the upper surface of the step below. - The same applies for surfaces of beams with respect to the ceiling.
- The second surface 12 b can be even more extensive. It is preferably perpendicular to the
wall 11. - Therefore, if the
wall 11 is still defined by the floor, thesurface 12 or 12 b can be a side wall of a baseboard or skirting board or even a real wall perpendicular to thewall 11. - In any case, the
device 1 comprises asupport 2 and a reel-holder 3. - The
support 2 is preferably adapted to support the reel-holder 3. - In particular, it preferably comprises handling means 20.
- The handling means 20 are configured to allow the handling of the
support 2 placed on at least thewall 11. - The handling means 20 can be various kinds. They can be rolling elements, for example spheres, constrained in a compliant way to support 2. Or they can be tracks. Preferably, the handling means 20 include wheels.
- These wheels can be, therefore, rotatable along an axis perpendicular to the
wall 11, when thedevice 1 rests on thewall 11, or they can be fixed. - The wheels allow, in any case, handling of the
support 2, placed on thewall 11, along at least one direction. Preferably, thesupport 2 defines ahandling plane 2 a. Thehandling place 2 a naturally comprises aforementioned direction, if the handling means 20 are wheels. - Preferably, the handling
plane 2 a along which thesupport 2 moves is parallel to thewall 11. - The
support 2 may, furthermore, have any form or dimension. - In addition, advantageously, the
support 2 includes asupport portion 25. - The
support portion 25 preferably defines a flat surface perpendicular to thehandling plane 2 a. In particular, thesupport portion 25 is suitable for being placed in contact with an auxiliary wall, for example the lateral surface of a baseboard or skirting board or a wall, substantially perpendicular to thewall 11, so as to further stabilise the handling of the support on awall 11. - Therefore, the
support portion 25 forms an edge suitable for guiding thesupport 2 along a predetermined direction parallel to said auxiliary wall. - Even more in detail, preferably, the
support portion 25 includes a soft, a little porous surface, suitable for containing the friction between the auxiliary wall and thesupport surface 25 to facilitate the handling of thesupport 2. - Preferably, the
support 2 comprises aplate 23. Theplate 23 preferably extends parallel to thehandling plane 2 a. Therefore, it is preferably suitable for placing itself parallel to thewall 11 and the handling means 20 are preferably arranged between theplate 23 and thewall 11 when thedevice 1 is in use. - Basically, the
support 2 preferably defines a trolley. - Conveniently, preferably, if the handling means 20 are wheels and the
support 2 comprises theplate 23, the wheels are constrained to theplane 23 on the opposite side with respect to the reel-holder 3. - In fact, the reel-holder 3 is preferably constrained to the
support 2. The reel-holder 3, moreover, is preferably configured for supporting areel 100 in a compliant way. Thereel 100 is substantially a roll including rolled-uptape 10. In this regard, therefore, the reel-holder 3 also defines a first axis ofrotation 3 c. - The first axis of
rotation 3 c is preferably the axis around which thereel 100 rotates. Furthermore, therotation axis 3 c substantially defines the running direction of thetape 10. - In a first embodiment, in particular, the handling means 20 are configured for allowing the handling, in a plane parallel to the first axis of
rotation 3 c, of thesupport 2 placed on thewall 11, while thedevice 1 is in use. This plane is, preferably, the handlingplanes 2 a. In this case, preferably, thedeice 1 is capable of positioning the tape on asurface 12 defining the characteristics, in particular, of the first surface 12 a. - In a second embodiment, the handling means 20 are configured for allowing the handling, in a plane perpendicular to the first axis of
rotation 3 c, ofsupport 2 placed on thewall 11, while thedevice 1 is in use. - In this case, preferably, the
device 1 is suitable for positioning the tape on asurface 12 defining the characteristics, in particular, of the second surface 12 b. - The reel-holder 3, in particular, can be constrained in a fixed way to the
support 2, for example at a predetermined distance with respect to theplate 23. - Or, preferably, the reel-holder 3 is constrained to the
support 2 in such a way that the position of the reel-holder 3 with respect to thesupport 2 can be modified in a controlled manner. By this it is meant that, preferably, the reel-holder 3 is stably constrained on thesupport 2 and remains fixed during the use of thedevice 1, but it is removable with respect to thesupport 2 on command. - In this regard, preferably, the reel-holder 3 is constrained in a compliant way to the
support 2 in such a way that can be moved, in a controlled manner, with respect to thesupport 2 along at least afirst direction 3 a. - The
first direction 3 a is preferably perpendicular to thehandling plane 2 a. In particular, in order to ensure the mobility of the reel-holder 3, thesupport 2 may include afirst guide 21. - The
first guide 21 can be a rail on which the reel-holder 3 can move. Alternatively, thefirst guide 21 can be a substantially tubular element, as shown inFIG. 1 , on which the reel-holder 3 slides along thefirst direction 3 a. - The reel-holder 3 can therefore include a cursor suitable for moving along
first guide 21 so as to translate along thefirst direction 3 a. - Guides and cursors of this type are well known in the current state of the art. Naturally, stops may be provided, for example on the cursor of the reel-holder 3, suitable for blocking the reel-holder 3 at heights predetermined by the user. Stops of this type are widely known and may consist, for example, of simple bolts screwable onto threaded screws suitable for producing sufficient friction to lock the reel-holder 3 with respect to the
first guide 21. - In the first embodiment, the reel-holder 3, moreover, is preferably movable, in a controlled manner, with respect to the
support 2 along thesecond direction 3 b. Thesecond direction 3 b is parallel to thehandling plane 2 a. The reel-holder 3 can therefore be moved with respect to thesupport 2 along thefirst direction 3 a, or along thesecond direction 3 b, or along bothdirections directions second direction 3 b, preferably, thesupport 2 comprises asecond guide 22. - The
second guide 22 preferably is directly connected to thefirst guide 21. In fact, substantially, the reel-holder 3 moves along thefirst direction 3 a on thefirst guide 21 and thefirst guide 21 moves along thesecond direction 3 b on thesecond guide 22 in a manner such as to allow the movement of the reel-holder 3 along thesecond direction 3 b with respect to thesupport 2. - Also, the
second guide 22 may have mechanisms similar to thefirst guide 21. Therefore, substantially can comprise a rail within which a cursor can translate, preferably part of thefirst guide 21. Furthermore, also thesecond guide 22 may include stops for the constraint of thefirst guide 21. - In the second embodiment, shown in
FIG. 2 , thefirst guide 21 is preferably a tubular element around which the reel-holder 3 is constrained. - Therefore, the first axis of
rotation 3 c coincides with thefirst direction 3 a and is substantially defined by thefirst guide 21. - The reel-holder 3 can therefore be constrained in a way that is fixed with respect to the
first guide 21 and allow the rotation of thereel 100 around the reel-holder 3, or it may be constrained in a compliant way to thefirst guide 21 so as to rotate around the first axis ofrotation 3 c. - In any case, even if indirectly, the
reel 100 is constrained, by the use of the reel-holder 3, to thefirst guide 21 in such a way to be rotatable around thefirst direction 3 a coinciding, in this case, with thefirst rotation axis 3 c. - Also, in this case there may be, and preferably are, provided cursors and stops suitable for allowing the controlled movement of the reel-holder 3 on the
first guide 21 so as to be able to adjust the distance between the reel-holder 3 and the support in a controlled manner. - Naturally, the
reel 100 can rotate with respect to the reel-holder 3 and, therefore, the reel-holder 3 can be integral with thefirst guide 21 and behave as a sort of bearing, or part of the reel-holder 3 can rotate integrally with thereel 100 and therefore it is rotatable with respect to thefirst guide 21. - The
device 1 preferably also comprises atensioner 4. - The
tensioner 4 is preferably constrained to one between thesupport 2 and the reel-holder 3. - Advantageously, the
support 2 separates the reel-holder 3 and thetensioner 4 with respect to the handling means 20 in such a way that when the handling means 20 are placed on at least thewall 11 and thetensioner 4 dispenses thetape 10 on the surface, exclusively the handling means 20 face saidwall 11. Substantially, therefore, the reel-holder 3 and thetensioner 4 are arranged on opposite sides of thesupport 2. - The
tensioner 4 is, in particular, configured to dispensetape 10 in tension. Therefore, preferably, thetape 10, when thedevice 1 is in use, is unrolled by thereel 100, passes in correspondence with thetensioner 4 and is situated preferably on thesurface 12, either a first surface 12 a or a second surface 12 b. Substantially, therefore, the handling means 20 are configured to allow the movement, in a plane parallel or perpendicular to the first axis ofrotation 3 c, of thesupport 2 placed on at least onewall 11 while thetensioner 4 dispenses thetape 10 on thesurface 12, parallel to wall 11 in case it is a first surface 12 a and perpendicular to thewall 11 in case it is a second surface 12 b. - This means that the
support 2 moves stably on thewall 11 and avoids that the stability of thedevice 1 depends on the contact between thetensioner 4 and thesurface 12. - The
tensioner 4, in particular, preferably defines a second axis ofrotation 4 a. - The second axis of
rotation 4 a is preferably parallel to the first axis ofrotation 3 c, either in the first configuration wherein the first axis ofrotation 3 c is perpendicular to thefirst direction 3 a, or in the second configuration wherein the first axis ofrotation 3 c coincides with thefirst direction 3 a. - The
tensioner 4 therefore allows thetape 10 to rotate around therotation axis 4 a in such a way that gets tensioned on thesurface 12, 12 a or 12 b. - The
tensioner 4 can therefore comprise a smooth tubular element suitable for allowing the sliding of thetape 10. Preferably, in particular, thetensioner 4 comprises aroller 40. - The
roller 40 is preferably rotating around the second axis ofrotation 4 a. Furthermore, it is spaced from the reel-holder 3 and configured to dispensetape 10 when put into rotation with respect to thesurface 12. - In order to space the
roller 40, thetensioner 4 preferably comprises aspacer 41. Thespacer 41 may comprise a bar, or a pair of bars. It is, in general, configured to connect theroller 40 to the reel-holder 3. Even more in detail, thespacer 41 is connected to the reel-holder 3 by means of ahinge 42. - The
hinge 42 preferably allows thespacer 41 to rotate with respect to the reel-holder 3 around the axis of thehinge 42. However, in addition, thetensioner 4 also includes opposition means 43 - The opposition means 43 are preferably configured to oppose the mutual rotation, around the
hinge 42, of the reel-holder 3 and of thespacer 41. Therefore, theroller 40 distributes thetape 10 by tensioning it and being able to oscillate slightly by means of thespacer 41 in opposition to the means ofopposition 43. - Such opposition means 43 may include, therefore, a linear spring arranged between the reel-holder 3 and the
tensioner 4, or they can also include other devices such as a torsional spring arranged, for example, in correspondence of thehinge 42. - Preferably, in this embodiment wherein the second axis of
rotation 4 a and the first axis ofrotation 3 c are perpendicular to thehandling plane 2 a, thesupport 2 also includes astop 26. - The
stop 26 is preferably configured to block the rotation of thetensioner 4 around the axis of thehinge 42. In this configuration, in particular, thespacer 41 is constrained in a compliant way to thefirst guide 21 so as to be rotatable with respect to the first axis ofrotation 3 c. Therefore, the blockage to rotation is achieved by the use thestop 26, alternatively or in addition by the use of opposition means. The opposition means 43, in this configuration, are not present if the reel-holder 3 rotates integrally with thereel 100. - In addition, the
device 1 can comprise agrip 24. - Preferably, the
grip 24 is configured to allow a user to drive thedevice 1. -
Such grip 24 can be various kinds. It can, for example, be a handle, or a knob, and can be constrained, for example, to theplate 23. - Preferably, the
handle 24 is substantially a handlebar arranged perpendicular to theplate 23 and constrained to it. - The
grip 24 can, therefore, be fixed or mobile. Preferably, thegrip 24 is constrained in a compliant way to thesupport 2. In particular, thegrip 24 can be constrained by the use of asecond guide 22 and be arranged in a sliding way on it. - Naturally, the
device 1 can include also various auxiliary components, possibly are removable and mountable as desired on thesupport 2. - For example, as shown in
FIG. 3 , thedevice 1 can include cutting means 5. - The cutting means 5 are preferably configured to allow cut with a snatch, as occurs for common scotch-holders, of the
tape 10. Preferably, therefore, the cutting means 5 include at least oneblade 50. - The
blade 50 is a cutting edge suitable for tearing thetape 10 in a precise manner. Preferably, theblade 50 is arranged in such a way that laps thetape 10, at the outlet oftensioner 4, perpendicular to the direction of thetape 10. - Moreover, in particular, preferably, the
blade 50 is connected to thefirst guide 21 in such a way that is also adjustable. In this purpose, connection devices can be provided as already described, for example similar to the connector, and further cursors and clamps. - The cutting means 5 can also be independently constrained to the
support 2, for example by the use offirst guide 21, or can be constrained to the reel-holder 3 itself. - Preferably, in particular, the cutting means 5 are constrained, directly or not, to the
support 2 in such a way that theblade 50 results opposite, with respect to thefirst guide 21, to thetensioner 4, and overlapping on the outlet direction of thetape 10 from thetensioner 4 itself. - In conclusion, the
device 1 can comprise a limit lock 6. - The limit lock 6 is preferably configured to come into contact with an obstacle, for example a face of a wall in correspondence with a corner of a room, wherein the running of the
device 1 may be interrupted, precisely, by the presence of a wall perpendicular to the driving direction of thedevice 1. - The limit lock 6, if present, is preferably configured, furthermore, to separate the obstacle and the cutting means 5 by at least a predetermined minimum distance in order to facilitate any cutting operations.
- Preferably, therefore, in this regard, the limit block 6 preferably includes a
contact surface 60. - The
contact surface 60 is preferably perpendicular both to thehandling plane 2 a, and to the supportingportion 25. - In this way, when the device comes close to an obstacle, the
contact surface 60 stops the device itself so that the blade is separated from the obstacle by a predetermined distance. - Naturally, the limit lock 6, like any other component, can be compliant to the
support 2, or to the reel-holder 3, or to the cutting separatedmeans 5 itselves in such a way that can be adjusted according to the requirements. - Therefore, the
contact surface 60 can be moved on command to vary the predetermined distance between thecontact surface 60 itself and theblade 50 along the driving direction of thedevice 1. - Either the cutting means 5 or and the limit lock 6 are, naturally, compatible with any embodiment, either the first or the second, by adapting simply the directions of the
blade 50 rather than thecontact surface 60 with respect to thesupport 2 or to the reel-holder or, in the second case, to the cutting means 5 themselves. - The operation of the
device 1 previously described in structural terms is as follows. Thedevice 1, resting on the floor, can be placed side by side with a baseboard. Furthermore, the height of the reel-holder 3 can be adjusted and, consequently, the height of thetensioner 4. In this way the arrangement of thetape 10 can be correctly guaranteed regardless of the height of the baseboard. - Once the first adhesive strip of
tape 10 is placed on thesurface 12 of the baseboard, in particular on the first surface 12 a or on the second surface 12 b, the support can be moved, by the use of thegrip 24, along the extension of the baseboard. Naturally, regardless of the configuration adopted on thedevice 1, thegrip 24 allows to move thedevice 1 itself substantially against the baseboard in one direction or in the opposite direction. Theroller 40 of thetensioner 4, relatively rotating to thesurface 12, pulls thebelt 10 under tension constraining, with a slight pressure, to thesurface 12. In this way, the procedure for placing thetape 10 is considerably speeded up. - The
device 1 for applying tape according to the invention achieves important advantages. - In fact, the
device 1 is configured in such a way that separates the deposition tools from thetape 10, or rather the reel-holder 3 and thetensioner 4, with respect to the handling means 20 so that thedevice 1 results always adjustable, for example by adjusting the distance between reel-holder 3 and thesupport 2, according to anysurface 12, and eventually easily convertible between the various embodiments, considering that each component is removable, although of a considerable stability. - The
support portion 25, furthermore, stabilizes thedevice 1 by creating a sort of guide which allows to ulteriorly speed up the handling of thesupport 2. - It was found that, substantially, the
device 1 allows to reduce the laying oftape 10 by at least five or six times compared to common devices. - The deposition of
tape 10 also takes place in an optimal way since the support is made between thesupport 2 and thewall 11 and does not depend on thesurface 12 alone and on thetensioners 4 or rollers for depositing thetape 10. - Furthermore, a further advantage is the fact that the obtained stability allows to increase the positioning accuracy and avoid defects, such as gluing errors, which can lead to undesired dripping of paint for example during the painting phases of the walls.
- In addition, a further advantage of the invention is given by the fact that it allows to obtain the aforementioned advantages in the face of a high simplicity and constructive cost-effectiveness.
- In fact, the
device 1 is preferably composed exclusively ofsupport 2, reel-holder 3 andtensioner 4 without further complicated components. - The invention is susceptible of variants falling within the scope of the inventive concept defined by the claims.
- For example, the limit lock 6 may be arranged on the opposite side with respect to the cutting means 5. Furthermore, the cutting means 5 may also be placed in the opposite direction with respect to what is shown in
FIG. 3 . - The
FIG. 1-3 are, in fact, only examples of embodiments which do not limit the making ofalternative devices 1 wherein the various auxiliary components are located in different positions. - In this context, all the details can be replaced by equivalent elements and the materials, shapes and dimensions can be any.
