Abstract

A toilet paper roll holder attachment system is disclosed for supporting the holding of at least two toilet paper rolls in either horizontal or vertical configuration, or for supporting the holding of large or jumbo toilet paper rolls. The toilet paper roll holder attachment systems have a hollow cylindrical body with two substantially round apertures which are adapted for holding a pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle. A vertical support arm or support bracket can extend perpendicularly downward from the hollow cylindrical body. At the lower end of the vertical support arm or support bracket can be a horizontal rod for holding the toilet paper rolls. There can be one or more stoppers at one or more ends of the horizontal rod for the purpose of preventing a toilet paper roll from sliding out of the horizontal rod.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • FIG. 1 illustrates one horizontal dual toilet paper roll holder attachment system in accordance with the present disclosure. Shown in the figure is horizontal dual toilet paper roll holder attachment 1 comprising: a) hollow cylindrical body 2, for the purpose of insertion of a pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle, b) a vertical support arm 3, having an upper end and a lower end, and c) a horizontal shaft 4.
  • Preferably, the hollow cylindrical body of the provided dual toilet paper roll holder attachment system is configured to have dimensions allowing it to be compatible with components of standard toilet paper roll holder hardware commonly installed (e.g., pre-existing) in most residential homes. For example, standard toilet paper roll hardware often includes a spindle designed to fit within the cardboard tubes about which commercially available toilet paper is typically rolled. These spindles are designed to releasably mount within conventional wall-mounted toilet paper roll spindle brackets. Accordingly, the hollow, cylindrical body is preferably configured to have a shorter axial length than that of a pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle, thereby permitting easy handling when detaching and attaching the pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle into and out of a conventional wall-mounted toilet paper roll spindle bracket, once the pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle is positioned through the hollow cylindrical body. FIGS. 3 and 4 illustrate this positioning of a provided vertical toilet paper roll attachment system about a pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle mounted to a conventional wall-mounted toilet paper roll spindle bracket.
  • The axial length of the hollow cylindrical body can be, for example, between 2 cm and 16 cm, e.g., between 2 cm and 10.4 cm, between 3.4 cm and 11.8 cm, between 4.8 cm and 13.2 cm, between 6.2 cm and 14.6 cm, or between 7.6 cm and 16 cm. In terms of upper limits, the hollow cylindrical body length can be less than 16 cm, e.g., less than 14.6 cm, less than 13.2 cm, less than 11.8 cm, less than 10.4 cm, less than 9 cm, less than 7.6 cm, less than 6.2 cm, less than 4.8 cm, or less than 3.4 cm. In terms of lower limits, the hollow cylindrical body axial length can be greater than 2 cm, e.g., greater than 3.4 cm, greater than 4.8 cm, greater than 6.2 cm, greater than 7.6 cm, greater than 9 cm, greater than 10.4 cm, greater than 11.8 cm, greater than 13.2 cm, or greater than 14.6 cm. Longer lengths, e.g., greater than 16 cm, and shorter lengths, e.g., less than 2 cm, are also contemplated.
  • Additionally, the hollow cylindrical body disclosed herein can be configured to have an inner diameter large enough to permit a standard pre-existing toilet paper roll holder spindle to pass therethrough. In other words, the apertures of both ends of the hollow cylindrical body can be larger than the diameter of the pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle for the purpose of having additional area of space for the insertion of the pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle through the hollow cylindrical body.
  • The inner diameter of the hollow cylindrical body can be, for example, between 0.5 cm and 12.5 cm, e.g., between 0.5 cm and 7.7 cm, between 1.7 cm and 8.9 cm, between 2.9 cm and 10.1 cm, between 4.1 cm and 11.3 cm, or between 5.3 cm and 12.5 cm. In terms of upper limits, the hollow cylindrical body inner diameter can be less than 12.5 cm, e.g., less than 11.3 cm, less than 10.1 cm, less than 8.9 cm, less than 7.7 cm, less than 6.5 cm, less than 5.3 cm, less than 4.1 cm, less than 2.9 cm, or less than 1.7 cm. In terms of lower limits, the hollow cylindrical body inner diameter can be greater than 0.5 cm, e.g., greater than 1.7 cm, greater than 2.9 cm, greater than 4.1 cm, greater than 5.3 cm, greater than 6.5 cm, greater than 7.7 cm, greater than 8.9 cm, greater than 10.1 cm, or greater than 11.3 cm. Larger inner diameters, e.g., greater than 12.5 cm, and smaller inner diameters, e.g., less than 0.5 cm, are also contemplated.
  • Referring to FIG. 1, the upper end of the vertical support arm 3 is connected onto the middle section of the hollow cylindrical body 2. In a preferred embodiment, the vertical support arm is connected at or near the axial center of the hollow cylindrical body. It is also contemplated that the vertical support arm can be alternatively connected to the hollow cylindrical body at a location closer to an axial end of the hollow cylindrical body than to the axial center.
  • Referring to FIG. 1, the middle section of the horizontal shaft 4 is connected to the lower end of the vertical support arm 3, i.e., the end of the vertical support arm opposite the end attached to the hollow cylindrical body. In a preferred embodiment, the vertical support arm lower end is connected at or near the axial center of the horizontal shaft. It is also contemplated that the vertical support arm lower end can be alternatively connected to the horizontal shaft at a location closer to an axial end of the horizontal shaft than to the axial center.
  • Preferably, the vertical support arm of the provided horizontal dual toilet paper roll holder attachment system is configured to have an adequate axial, e.g., vertical, length long enough to permit a standard commercially available toilet paper roll to be positioned about the horizontal shaft, with adequate clearance such that a toilet paper roll so positioned does not contact the hollow cylindrical body or toilet paper roll holder hardware which the attachment system is mounted to. In other words, a margin is thus created between the bottom side of the hollow cylindrical body and the top sides of the one or two full toilet paper rolls. FIGS. 5 and 6 illustrate this clearance or margin between installed toilet paper rolls and the hollow cylindrical body of the attachment system. A standard commercially available toilet paper roll can have a diameter of, for example, approximately 12 cm.
  • The axial length of the vertical support arm can be, for example, between 5 cm and 35 cm, e.g., between 5 cm and 23 cm, between 8 cm and 26 cm, between 11 cm and 29 cm, between 14 cm and 32 cm, or between 17 cm and 35 cm. In terms of upper limits, the vertical support arm axial length can be less than 35 cm, e.g., less than 32 cm, less than 29 cm, less than 26 cm, less than 23 cm, less than 20 cm, less than 17 cm, less than 14 cm, less than 11 cm, or less than 8 cm. In terms of lower limits, the vertical support arm axial length can be greater than 5 cm, e.g., greater than 8 cm, greater than 11 cm, greater than 14 cm, greater than 17 cm, greater than 20 cm, greater than 23 cm, greater than 26 cm, greater than 29 cm, or greater than 32 cm. Longer lengths, e.g., greater than 35 cm, and shorter lengths, e.g., less than 5 cm, are also contemplated.
  • The horizontal shaft of the provided horizontal dual toilet paper roll attachment system can be configured to have an outer diameter small enough to permit the cardboard tube of a standard roll of toilet paper to fit about the horizontal shaft. The outer diameter of the horizontal shaft can be, for example, between 1 cm and 2.8 cm, e.g., between 1.3 cm and 3.1 cm, between 1.6 cm and 3.4 cm, between 1.9 cm and 3.7 cm, or between 2.2 cm and 4 cm. In terms of upper limits, the horizontal shaft outer diameter can be less than 4 cm, e.g., less than 3.7 cm, less than 3.4 cm, less than 3.1 cm, less than 2.8 cm, less than 2.5 cm, less than 2.2 cm, less than 1.9 cm, less than 1.6 cm, or less than 1.3 cm. In terms of lower limits, the horizontal shaft outer diameter can be greater than 1 cm, e.g., greater than 1.3 cm, greater than 1.6 cm, greater than 1.9 cm, greater than 2.2 cm, greater than 2.5 cm, greater than 2.8 cm, greater than 3.1 cm, greater than 3.4 cm, or greater than 3.7 cm. Larger outer diameters, e.g., greater than 4 cm, and smaller outer diameters, e.g., less than 1 cm, are also contemplated
  • The horizontal shaft can further be configured to have an axial length long enough to support the positioning of two toilet paper rolls as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6. The axial length of the horizontal shaft can be, for example, between 25 cm and 50 cm, e.g., between 25 cm and 40 cm, between 27.5 cm and 42.5 cm, between 30 cm and 45 cm, between 32.5 cm and 47.5 cm, or between 35 cm and 50 cm. In terms of upper limits, the horizontal shaft axial length can be less than 50 cm, e.g., less than 47.5 cm, less than 45 cm, less than 42.5 cm, less than 40 cm, less than 37.5 cm, less than 35 cm, less than 32.5 cm, less than 30 cm, or less than 27.5 cm. In terms of lower limits, the horizontal shaft axial length can be greater than 25 cm, e.g., greater than 27.5 cm, greater than 30 cm, greater than 32.5 cm, greater than 35 cm, greater than 37.5 cm, greater than 40 cm, greater than 42.5 cm, greater than 45 cm, or greater than 47.5 cm. Longer lengths, e.g., greater than 50 cm, and smaller lengths, e.g., less than 25 cm, are also contemplated.
  • Referring to FIG. 1, the two free axial ends of the horizontal shaft 4 are angled upward for the purpose of preventing the toilet paper rolls from sliding out of the horizontal shaft 4. In other embodiments, at least one of the two free axial ends of the horizontal shaft is angled downward to similarly prevent toilet paper rolls from sliding out of the shaft. In some embodiments, both of the free ends are angled downward. In certain embodiments, the free ends further comprise a stopper on each end for the purpose of preventing the toilet paper rolls from sliding out of the horizontal shaft.
  • FIG. 7 illustrates a vertical dual toilet paper roll holder attachment system in accordance with the present disclosure. Shown in the figure is vertical dual toilet paper roll holder attachment system 5 comprising: d) hollow cylindrical body 6, for the purpose of insertion of a pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle, e) a vertical support arm 7, which has an upper end and a lower end, and f) a horizontal shaft 8.
  • As with the aforementioned provided horizontal dual toilet paper holder attachment system, the components of the vertical dual toilet paper roll holder attachment system are preferably configured to have dimensions allowing it to be compatible with components of standard toilet paper roll hardware commonly pre-installed in most homes. In particular, the hollow cylindrical body of the vertical dual toilet paper roll holder attachment system can be configured to simultaneously have an inner diameter large enough to permit a standard pre-existing toilet paper roll holder spindle to pass therethrough, and an outer diameter small enough to permit the hollow cylindrical body to pass through the cardboard tube of a standard roll of toilet paper. In other words, the apertures of both ends of the hollow cylindrical body 6 can be larger than the diameter of the pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle for the purpose of having additional area of space for the insertion of the pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle through the hollow cylindrical body.
  • The inner diameter of the hollow cylindrical body can be, for example, between 0.5 cm and 2.5 cm, e.g., between 0.5 cm and 1.7 cm, between 0.7 cm and 1.9 cm, between 0.9 cm and 2.1 cm, between 1.1 cm and 2.3 cm, or between 1.3 cm and 2.5 cm. In terms of upper limits, the hollow cylindrical body inner diameter can be less than 2.5 cm, e.g., less than 2.3 cm, less than 2.1 cm, less than 1.9 cm, less than 1.7 cm, less than 1.5 cm, less than 1.3 cm, less than 1.1 cm, less than 0.9 cm, or less than 0.7 cm. In terms of lower limits, the hollow cylindrical body inner diameter can be greater than 0.5 cm, e.g., greater than 0.7 cm, greater than 0.9 cm, greater than 1.1 cm, greater than 1.3 cm, greater than 1.5 cm, greater than 1.7 cm, greater than 1.9 cm, greater than 2.1 cm, or greater than 2.3 cm. Larger inner diameters, e.g., greater than 2.5 cm, and smaller inner diameters, e.g., less than 0.5 cm, are also contemplated.
  • The outer diameter of the hollow cylindrical body can be, for example, between 1 cm and 2.8 cm, e.g., between 1.3 cm and 3.1 cm, between 1.6 cm and 3.4 cm, between 1.9 cm and 3.7 cm, or between 2.2 cm and 4 cm. In terms of upper limits, the hollow cylindrical body outer diameter can be less than 4 cm, e.g., less than 3.7 cm, less than 3.4 cm, less than 3.1 cm, less than 2.8 cm, less than 2.5 cm, less than 2.2 cm, less than 1.9 cm, less than 1.6 cm, or less than 1.3 cm. In terms of lower limits, the hollow cylindrical body outer diameter can be greater than 1 cm, e.g., greater than 1.3 cm, greater than 1.6 cm, greater than 1.9 cm, greater than 2.2 cm, greater than 2.5 cm, greater than 2.8 cm, greater than 3.1 cm, greater than 3.4 cm, or greater than 3.7 cm. Larger outer diameters, e.g., greater than 4 cm, and smaller outer diameters, e.g., less than 1 cm, are also contemplated.
  • Additionally, the hollow cylindrical body of the provided vertical dual toilet paper roll attachment system can be configured to have a shorter axial length than that of a pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle, thereby permitting easy handling when detaching and attaching the pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle into and out of a conventional wall-mounted toilet paper roll spindle bracket, once the pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle is positioned through the hollow cylindrical body. FIGS. 9 and 10 illustrate this positioning of a provided toilet paper roll attachment system about a pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle mounted to a conventional wall-mounted toilet paper roll spindle bracket.
  • Referring to FIG. 7, the upper end of the vertical support arm 7 is connected to one end of the hollow cylindrical body 6. This configuration of the vertical support arm relative to the hollow cylindrical body more readily permits two rolls of toilet paper to be positioned on the vertical dual toilet paper roll attachment system with one of the two rolls substantially directly below the other of the two rolls. This arrangement is illustrated in FIGS. 11 and 12. It is also contemplated the vertical support arm can be alternatively connected to the hollow cylindrical body at a location closer to the axial center of the hollow cylindrical body than to an axial end.
  • Referring to FIG. 7, the lower end of the vertical support arm 7, is connected to one end of the horizontal shaft 8. This configuration of the vertical support arm relative to the horizontal shaft more readily permits two rolls of toilet paper to be positioned on the vertical dual toilet paper roll attachment system with one of the two rolls substantially directly below the other of the two rolls as described above and as illustrated in FIGS. 11 and 12. It is also contemplated that the vertical support arm can be alternatively connected to the horizontal shaft at a location closer to the axial center of the horizontal shaft than to an axial end.
  • Preferably, the vertical support arm 7 of the provided vertical dual toilet paper roll holder attach system is configured to have an adequate axial, e.g., vertical, length long enough to permit a first standard commercially available toilet paper roll to be positioned about the hollow cylindrical body, and a second standard commercially available toilet paper roll to be positioned about the horizontal shaft, with adequate clearance such that the first and second toilet paper rolls so positioned do not contact one another. In other words, a margin is thus created between the bottom side of the first full toilet paper roll positioned on the top toilet paper roll spindle and the top side of the second full toilet paper roll positioned on the horizontal shaft 8. FIGS. 11 and 12 illustrate this clearance or margin.
  • The axial length of the vertical support arm can be, for example, between 10 cm and 35 cm, e.g., between 10 cm and 25 cm, between 12.5 cm and 27.5 cm, between 15 cm and 30 cm, between 17.5 cm and 32.5 cm, or between 20 cm and 35 cm. In terms of upper limits, the vertical support arm axial length can be less than 35 cm, e.g., less than 32.5 cm, less than 30 cm, less than 27.5 cm, less than 25 cm, less than 22.5 cm, less than 20 cm, less than 17.5 cm, less than 15 cm, or less than 12.5 cm. In terms of lower limits, the vertical support arm axial length can be greater than 10 cm, e.g., greater than 12.5 cm, greater than 15 cm, greater than 17.5 cm, greater than 20 cm, greater than 22.5 cm, greater than 25 cm, greater than 27.5 cm, greater than 30 cm, or greater than 32.5 cm. Longer lengths, e.g., greater than 35 cm, and shorter lengths, e.g., less than 10 cm, are also contemplated.
  • The horizontal shaft of the provided vertical dual toilet paper roll attachment system can be configured to have an outer diameter small enough to permit the cardboard tube of a standard roll of toilet paper to fit about the horizontal shaft.
  • The horizontal shaft can further be configured to have an axial length long enough to support the positioning of a toilet paper roll as shown in FIGS. 11 and 12. The axial length of the horizontal shaft can be, for example, between 10 cm and 25 cm, e.g., between 10 cm and 19 cm, between 11.5 cm and 20.5 cm, between 13 cm and 22 cm, between 14.5 cm and 23.5 cm, or between 16 cm and 25 cm. In terms of upper limits, the horizontal shaft axial length can be less than 25 cm, e.g., less than 23.5 cm, less than 22 cm, less than 20.5 cm, less than 19 cm, less than 17.5 cm, less than 16 cm, less than 14.5 cm, less than 13 cm, or less than 11.5 cm. In terms of lower limits, the horizontal shaft axial length can be greater than 10 cm, e.g., greater than 11.5 cm, greater than 13 cm, greater than 14.5 cm, greater than 16 cm, greater than 17.5 cm, greater than 19 cm, greater than 20.5 cm, greater than 22 cm, or greater than 23.5 cm. Longer lengths, e.g., greater than 25 cm, and smaller lengths, e.g., less than 10 cm, are also contemplated.
  • Referring to FIG. 7, the free axial end of the horizontal shaft 8 is angled upwards for the purpose of preventing the toilet paper roll from sliding out of the horizontal shaft 8. In other embodiments, the free axial end of the horizontal shaft is angled downward to similarly prevent the toilet paper roll from sliding out of the shaft. In certain embodiments, the free axial end further comprises a stopper for the purpose of preventing the toilet paper roll from sliding out of the horizontal shaft.
  • FIG. 14 illustrates a vertical triple toilet paper roll holder attachment system in accordance with the present disclosure. The triple toilet paper roll holder attachment system comprises a hollow cylindrical body, a vertical support arm, and two horizontal shafts attached to the vertical shaft. The attachment points of the horizontal shafts on the vertical shaft are preferably configured such that the spacing between the two horizontal shafts, and the spacing between the upper horizontal shaft and the hollow cylindrical body, are approximately equal, and provide sufficient margin for the holding of three toilet paper rolls as shown in FIG. 14. Other aspects of the configuration and dimensions of the vertical triple toilet paper roll holder attachment system are analogous to those described above for the vertical dual toilet paper roll holder attachment system. Other provided embodiments with three, four, or more horizontal shafts can analogously be used to hold four, five, or more toilet paper rolls.
  • FIG. 15 illustrates a jumbo toilet paper roll holder attachment system in accordance with the present disclosure. Shown in figure is jumbo toilet paper roll holder attachment system 9 comprising: g) a hollow cylindrical body 10 for the purpose of insertion of a pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle, h) an inverted L-shaped bracket 11 having an upper horizontal arm and a lower end, and i) a horizontal shaft 12.
  • As with the aforementioned provided horizontal and vertical dual toilet paper holder attachment systems, the components of the jumbo toilet paper roll holder attachment system are preferably configured to have dimensions allowing it to be compatible with components of standard toilet paper roll hardware commonly pre-installed in most homes. For example, the hollow cylindrical body 10 of the jumbo toilet paper roll holder attachment system is preferably configured to have a shorter axial length than that of a pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle, thereby permitting easy handling when detaching and attaching the pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle into and out of the conventional wall-mounted toilet paper roll spindle bracket, once the pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle is positioned through the hollow cylindrical body 10. FIGS. 17 and 18 illustrate this positioning of a provided jumbo toilet paper roll attachment system about a pre-existing toilet paper roll spindle mounted to a conventional wall-mounted toilet paper roll spindle bracket.

• Referring to FIG. 15, the upper horizontal arm of the inverted L-shaped bracket 11 is connected onto the middle section of the hollow, cylindrical body 10. In a preferred embodiment, the upper horizontal arm is connected at or near the axial center of the hollow cylindrical body. It is also contemplated that the vertical support arm can be alternatively connected to the hollow cylindrical body at a location closer to an axial end of the hollow cylindrical body than to the axial center.
  • Referring to FIG. 15, the lower end of the inverted L-shaped bracket 11, is connected to one axial end of the horizontal shaft 12. It is also contemplated that the lower end of the inverted L-shaped bracket can alternatively be connected to the horizontal shaft at a location closer to the axial center of the horizontal shaft than to an axial end.
  • Preferably, the inverted L-shaped bracket of the provided jumbo toilet paper roll holder attachment system is configured to have an adequate axial vertical length long enough to permit a standard commercially available jumbo toilet paper roll to be positioned about the horizontal shaft, with adequate clearance such that a jumbo toilet paper roll so positioned does not contact the hollow cylindrical body or toilet paper roll holder hardware which the attachment system is mounted to.
