Abstract
The present invention relates to artificial eyelashes and, more particularly, to a system having flared artificial eyelashes on a tape strip.
Description
- The present application is a non-provisional application of U.S. Provisional Application No. 62/522,252, filed Jun. 20, 2017.
- The present invention relates to artificial eyelashes and, more particularly, to a system having flared artificial eyelashes on a tape strip.
- Eyelash extensions have been a popular cosmetic enhancement for several years. Eyelash extensions are applied to a user's natural eyelashes to save the user time and enhance their natural beauty.
- Currently, there are many types of artificial eyelashes on the market, some better than others. Historically, artificial eyelashes were made of several artificial eyelashes that were adhered to a sticky strip. The sticky strip would then be applied to the user's eyelid to provide many artificial eyelashes in one easy procedure. A problem with the traditional artificial eyelashes is that they are bulky and do not look natural.
- With advances in technology, single artificial eyelashes have been conceived. In other words, with single lashes, a single eyelash extension can be glued to a single natural eyelash. By gluing the eyelash extensions directly to the natural eyelashes, the natural look and fullness of the user is enhanced.
- A problem with single eyelash extensions is that they are typically packaged individually on a tape strip requiring a lot of effort to provide a full or voluminous effect with multiple individual eyelashes. In some cases, it may be desirable to have more than one artificial eyelash on the strip as a branched or multiple filament lash. An advantage to branched or multiple lashes in a bunch is that it allows the technician to easily grasp the bundle of lashes and apply the bundle of lashes to the subject in a single application process. However, and as shown in
FIG. 1 , existing bundles of lashes diverge from a root end in which the roots of the individual filaments are adhered to another through knots or a glue, or some other technique in which the roots are physically adhered to one another while on the sheet having all the lashes. For example, U.S. Patent Pub. No. 2015/0114421 depicts branched lashes (inFIG. 1 ) with roots that are connected to one another on a strip using an adhesive between the roots. In other words, typical branched false eyelash extensions are sold and packaged in a manner in which the branched eyelash extensions are formed of individual filaments that are adhered to one another at their roots (e.g., via an adhesive). While operable, a problem with such a product is that the root bunch, with its adhesive, can be heavy when applied to a user. - Therefore, there is a continuing need for a system for providing multiple artificial eyelashes on a tape strip that are branched or flared with roots that are adhesiveless, thereby decreasing the weight of the product when applied to a subject.
- The present invention relates to artificial eyelashes and, more particularly, to a system having flared artificial eyelashes on a tape strip.
- Finally, as can be appreciated by one in the art, the present invention also comprises a method for forming and using the invention described herein.
- The objects, features and advantages of the present invention will be apparent from the following detailed descriptions of the various aspects of the invention in conjunction with reference to the following drawings, where:
-
FIG. 1 is an illustration of the prior art, depicting an adhesive positioned between lash roots to bind the roots together; and -
FIG. 2 is an illustration of the present invention, depicting the branched or flared lashes as attached with a tape strip having adhesiveless roots, such that the roots are not adhered directly to one another when bundled together on the tape strip. - The present invention relates to artificial eyelashes and, more particularly, to a system having flared artificial eyelashes on a tape strip. The following description is presented to enable one of ordinary skill in the art to make and use the invention and to incorporate it in the context of particular applications. Various modifications, as well as a variety of uses in different applications will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, and the general principles defined herein may be applied to a wide range of embodiments. Thus, the present invention is not intended to be limited to the embodiments presented, but is to be accorded the widest scope consistent with the principles and novel features disclosed herein.
- In the following detailed description, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a more thorough understanding of the present invention. However, it will be apparent to one skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without necessarily being limited to these specific details. In other instances, well-known structures and devices are shown in block diagram form, rather than in detail, in order to avoid obscuring the present invention.
- The reader's attention is directed to all papers and documents which are filed concurrently with this specification and which are open to public inspection with this specification, and the contents of all such papers and documents are incorporated herein by reference. All the features disclosed in this specification, (including any accompanying claims, abstract, and drawings) may be replaced by alternative features serving the same, equivalent or similar purpose, unless expressly stated otherwise. Thus, unless expressly stated otherwise, each feature disclosed is only one example of a generic series of equivalent or similar features.
- Furthermore, any element in a claim that does not explicitly state “means for” performing a specified function, or “step for” performing a specific function, is not to be interpreted as a “means” or “step” clause as specified in 35 U.S.C. Section 112, Paragraph 6. In particular, the use of “step of” or “act of” in the claims herein is not intended to invoke the provisions of 35 U.S.C. 112, Paragraph 6.
- Please note, if used, the labels left, right, front, back, top, bottom, forward, reverse, clockwise and counter clockwise have been used for convenience purposes only and are not intended to imply any particular fixed direction. Instead, they are used to reflect relative locations and/or directions between various portions of an object.
- (1) Introduction
- The present invention relates to artificial eyelashes and, more particularly, to a system having flared artificial eyelashes on a tape strip. Traditionally and as shown in the prior art as depicted in
FIG. 1 ,eyelash extensions 100 when sold as branched or flared are typically packaged on asheet 102 that has a series of elongated tape oradhesive strips 104. The branched or flared eyelash extensions are positioned upon theelongated tape strip 104. Notably, each branched or flared eyelash extension is formed as a bundle of individual filaments 106 (e.g., four individual filaments as shown) that are bound together by their roots with a knot or adhesive 108. For example, a glue drop (i.e., the adhesive 108) is positioned over the roots to bind theindividual filaments 106 to form the branched or flared eyelash extensions, which is collectively adhered to theadhesive strip 104 for packaging and sale. - Alternatively, the configuration according to the principles of the present invention and as depicted in
FIG. 2 is adhesiveless. In other words, the present invention provides a system in which branched or flared eyelash extensions are formed as bundle of individual filaments that are positioned together (at their roots or any other suitable part) to form the bundle; however, they are not bound by an adhesive or other binding means. Instead, the branched or flared lashes are positioned on thetape strip 200 as abundle 202 formed of two or moreindividual filaments 204 or lashes, such that there is no adhesive or other components positioned between the roots to bind thebundle 202. Thetape strip 200 can be anindividual tape strip 200 or, desirably, a series ofelongated tape strips 200 position upon some sort ofsheet backing 210, such as plastic or paper, etc. The individual filaments can be positioned individually or collectively onto thetape strip 200 asbundles 202 with the roots or other portions of the individual filaments positioned next to one another or touching. However, while the roots, for example, may be touching on thetape strip 200, they are not adhered directly to one another with an adhesive drop or other component. Instead, they are adhered to or proximate one another via thetape strip 200 which allows a technician to grasp the bundle 202 (e.g., with a tweezer) with the individual filaments already flared apart and apply the bundle directly to the subjects individual lashes without the added weight of a pre-existing root bundle (as is the case with the prior art). It should be noted that the roots or other components of the individual lashes do not necessarily have to directly touch other individual lashes within any given bundle, so long as they are proximate one another. For example, the roots may be less than 0.5 mm away from one another and, desirably, less than 0.2 mm away from one another, or any other desired dimension so long as it is clear that they collectively form abundle 202 distinct fromother bundles 202. Although not limited thereto, desirably, the individual filaments are touching one another at their roots, but are not adhered directly to one another via an adhesive or other material between the individual filaments. Notably, any number of individual lashes/filaments can be attached to form eachbundle 202. The lashes can be the same or different, of any desired width, flare, color, or shape.
