Abstract

A glove and sleeve system including a garment assembly with a pair of hand coverings, a pair of sleeves, and a plurality of fasteners. One of the pair of hand coverings is configured to be worn on each respective hand of a user-wearer and one of the pair of sleeves are configured to be worn on a forearm portion of each respective arm of the user-wearer. The pair of hand coverings and the pair of sleeves are configured to be removeably attached via the plurality of fasteners to create effectively a single continuous member for insulated full coverage of the hands, wrists, and the arms of the user-wearer when worn.

Description

    CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • The present application is related to and claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62/481,641 filed Apr. 4, 2017, which is incorporated by reference herein in its entirety.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The following includes information that may be useful in understanding the present disclosure. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art nor material to the presently described or claimed inventions, nor that any publication or document that is specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
  • 1. FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates generally to the field of garments and more specifically relates to gloves and sleeves.
  • 2. DESCRIPTION OF RELATED ART
  • Many people wear gloves/mittens during winter. Gloves cover the entire hand with and have spots for each finger as well as the thumb. Mittens cover the entire hand, but typically only have a spot for the thumb. The fingers are covered in a central opening. Gloves/mittens protect and comfort hands against cold or heat, damage by friction, abrasion or chemicals. When outdoors during the winter, snow can get in between a jacket sleeve and on individual's skin. Snow penetrating through a jacket and gloves can be exceptionally cold, wet, and frustrating. Children may only be able to spend a short amount of time outdoors if he/she gets snow inside their jacket. While gloves and mittens keep the hands warm, if the garments under the coat and/or the skins on the wrist area get wet, extreme cold can deter people from spending additional time skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and more. An effective alternative is needed.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 4,856,112 to Michael D. Effle relates to a powder cuff. The described powder cuff includes a protective clothing for preventing snow from penetrating between the glove and coat sleeve being worn on the hand and arm of an individual. The protective clothing can readily be placed on and removed from the arm of an individual by using the gloved hand of the other arm of the individual.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known garments art, the present disclosure provides a novel glove and sleeve system. The general purpose of the present disclosure, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide an insulated glove/mitten and sleeve capable of being modularly attached together, keeping the wrist area dry and warm when out in the snow.
  • A glove and sleeve system is disclosed herein. The glove and sleeve system includes a garment assembly having a pair of hand coverings, a pair of sleeves, and a plurality of fasteners (fastening means). The pair of hand coverings, the pair of sleeves, and the plurality of fasteners are configured to be selectively used in modular combination to provide protection and coverage. One of the pair of hand coverings are configured to be worn on each respective hand of a user-wearer and one of the pair of sleeves are configured to be worn on a forearm portion of each respective arm of the user-wearer. The plurality of fasteners are positioned along a top-end of each one of the pair of hand coverings and a mating bottom-end of each one of the pair of sleeves. The pair of hand coverings and the pair of sleeves are configured to be removeably attached via the plurality of fasteners to effectively create a single continuous member for insulated full coverage of the hands, wrists, and the arms of the user-wearer when worn.

  • The various embodiments of the present invention will hereinafter be described in conjunction with the appended drawings, wherein like designations denote like elements.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • As discussed above, embodiments of the present disclosure relate to garments and more particularly to a glove and sleeve system as used to improve functional protection from elements such as cold and heat.
  • Generally, the present invention provides wearers with a glove or mitten capable of being attached to a sleeve garment, effectively eliminating the worry of snow penetrating a jacket. It includes touch-screen grips on the end of the glove which allow wearers to utilize their phone outdoors for texting, email, and/or emergencies. It preferably features hook and loop fasteners on the glove and sleeve (or other suitable fastening means), connecting the two together in order to form the complete garment for added snow protection. This enables skiers, snowboarders, hikers, and other outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy cold/snowy weather with warmth ensured. The present invention utilizes a pull string around the wrist area to tighten the glove system. Other tightening means may be used.
  • Glove and sleeve system is an insulated glove/mitten and sleeve capable of being attached together, keeping the wrist area dry and warm when out in the snow. The garments are comprised of waterproof material and feature hook and loop fasteners and/or alternately magnets on the top end of the glove and the bottom end of the sleeve. Both the gloves/mittens can be worn without the sleeve when not in the snow. Users can then add the sleeve for snow/wet protection when he/she needs it. Individuals can pull on the sleeve and glove, and then use a pull string on the glove to keep it secured at the wrist. The top of the sleeve is elasticized around the elbow area to maintain its position, even while moving out in the snow. The tip of the fingers on the glove feature a touch-screen pad which allows wearers to still utilize their smartphones and other electronics while outdoors. Once the glove and sleeve are attached, the user then puts it on over his/her sweater with the outer jacket going on last, creating full protection from weather elements. Glove and sleeve system can be constructed using insulated, waterproof materials. The garments may be available in numerous sizes capable of fitting both adults and children.
  • Referring now more specifically to the drawings by numerals of reference, there is shown in FIGS. 1-5, various views of a glove and sleeve system 100. FIG. 1 shows a glove and sleeve system 100 during an ‘in-use’ condition 150, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As illustrated, the glove and sleeve system 100 may include a garment assembly 110 having a pair of hand coverings 120, a pair of sleeves 130, and a plurality of fasteners 140. The pair of hand coverings 120 and the pair of sleeves 130 are configured to be removeably attached via the plurality of fasteners 140 to create effectively a single continuous member for insulated full coverage of hands, wrists, and arms of the user-wearer 160 when worn.
  • FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of the glove and sleeve system 100 of FIG. 1, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As above, the glove and sleeve system 100 may include the garment assembly 110 having the pair of hand coverings 120, the pair of sleeves 130, and the plurality of fasteners 140. The pair of hand coverings 120, the pair of sleeves 130, and the plurality of fasteners 140 are configured to be selectively used in modular combination. One of the pair of hand coverings 120 are configured to be worn on each respective hand (right and/or left) of a user-wearer 160 and one of the pair of sleeves 130 are configured to be worn on a forearm portion of each respective arm of the user-wearer 160. The plurality of fasteners 140 are positioned along a top-end 122 of each one of the pair of hand coverings 120 and a mating bottom-end 132 of each one of the pair of sleeves 130.
  • Referring now to FIG. 3 showing a perspective view of the glove and sleeve system 100 of FIG. 1, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As above, the glove and sleeve system 100 may include the garment assembly 110. The pair of hand coverings 120 may be gloves or mittens. In a preferred embodiment, the garment assembly 110 is insulated and water resistant/waterproof to provide protection against snow and other elements. The pair of hand coverings 120 may further include a pull-string 124 for further tightly securing the pair of hand coverings 120 to the wrists of the user-wearer 160. The pair of hand coverings 120 are configured to be used with and without the pair of sleeves 130 attached thereto. The plurality of fasteners 140 are configured to provide a protective seal when the pair of hand coverings 120 and the pair of sleeves 130 are connected.
  • FIG. 4 shows a perspective view of the glove and sleeve system 100 of FIG. 1, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As above, the glove and sleeve system 100 may include the garment assembly 110. In certain embodiments each of the pair of sleeves 130 of the garment assembly 110 further preferably include a fastener-covering configured to provide a protective flap concealing the plurality of fasteners 140. The plurality of fasteners 140 may include hook and loop fasteners, magnets, or other suitable fasteners. The fastener-covering prevents irritation of skin from the hook and loop fasteners while wearing the sleeves without a hand covering 120 attached. The plurality of fasteners 140 of the pair of hand coverings 120 are configured on an inner surface of the pair of hand coverings 120 at the top-end 122 of each one of the pair of hand coverings 120. The plurality of fasteners 140 of the pair of sleeves 130 are configured on an outer surface of the pair of sleeves 130 at the bottom-end 132 of each one of the pair of sleeves 130.
  • Referring now to FIG. 5 showing a perspective view of the glove and sleeve system 100 of FIG. 1, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As above, the glove and sleeve system 100 may include the garment assembly 110 having the pair of hand coverings 120, the pair of sleeves 130, and the plurality of fasteners 140. The pair of sleeves 130 are optionally worn in conjunction with the pair of hand coverings 120, as desired. The pair of sleeves 130 are flexible and configured to allow movement of an elbow during use. The pair of hand coverings 120 further include gripping members 126 which are touch screen compatible and are configured to allow the user-wearer 160 to use a touch screen display while wearing the pair of hand coverings 120 on the hands. The gripping members 126 are positioned on an outer surface of the pair of hand coverings 120 at each fingertip. The glove and sleeve system 100 may further include a bag for storage during non-use. The present invention may be sold as a kit.
  • The embodiments of the invention described herein are exemplary and numerous modifications, variations and rearrangements can be readily envisioned to achieve substantially equivalent results, all of which are intended to be embraced within the spirit and scope of the invention. Further, the purpose of the foregoing abstract is to enable the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the public generally, and especially the scientist, engineers and practitioners in the art who are not familiar with patent or legal terms or phraseology, to determine quickly from a cursory inspection the nature and essence of the technical disclosure of the application.

Claims (19)

What is claimed is new and desired to be protected by Letters Patent is set forth in the appended claims:
1. A glove and sleeve system comprising:
a garment assembly including;
a pair of hand coverings;
a pair of sleeves; and
a plurality of fasteners;
wherein said pair of hand coverings, said pair of sleeves, and said plurality of fasteners are configured to be selectively used in modular combination;
wherein one of said pair of hand coverings are configured to be worn on each respective hand of a user-wearer and one of said pair of sleeves are configured to be worn on a forearm portion of each respective arm of said user-wearer;
wherein said plurality of fasteners are positioned along a top-end of each one of said pair of hand coverings and a mating bottom-end of each one of said pair of sleeves; and
wherein said pair of hand coverings and said pair of sleeves are configured to be removeably attached via said plurality of fasteners to create effectively a single continuous member for insulated full coverage of said hands, wrists, and said arms of said user-wearer when worn.
2. The glove and sleeve system of claim 1, wherein said pair of hand coverings are selected from a group consisting of a glove and a mitten.
3. The glove and sleeve system of claim 1, wherein said garment assembly is insulated.
4. The glove and sleeve system of claim 4, wherein said garment assembly is water resistant.
5. The glove and sleeve system of claim 1, wherein said pair of hand coverings further comprise a pull-string for further securing said pair of hand coverings to said wrists of said user-wearer.
6. The glove and sleeve system of claim 1, wherein said pair of hand coverings are configured to be used with and without said pair of sleeves attached thereto.
7. The glove and sleeve system of claim 1, wherein each of said pair of sleeves further include a fastener-covering configured to provide a protective flap concealing said plurality of fasteners.
8. The glove and sleeve system of claim 7, wherein said plurality of fasteners include hook and loop fasteners.
9. The glove and sleeve system of claim 1, wherein said plurality of fasteners include magnets.
10. The glove and sleeve system of claim 1, wherein said plurality of fasteners of said pair of hand coverings are configured on an inner surface of said pair of hand coverings at said top-end of each one of said pair of hand coverings.
11. The glove and sleeve system of claim 10, wherein said plurality of fasteners of said pair of sleeves are configured on an outer surface of said pair of sleeves at said bottom-end of each one of said pair of sleeves.
12. The glove and sleeve system of claim 1, wherein said pair of sleeves are flexible and configured to allow movement of an elbow during use.
13. The glove and sleeve system of claim 1, wherein said pair of hand coverings further include gripping members.
14. The glove and sleeve system of claim 13, wherein said gripping members are touch screen compatible and are configured to allow said user-wearer to use a touch screen display while wearing said pair of hand coverings on said hands.
15. The glove and sleeve system of claim 14, wherein said gripping members are positioned on an outer surface of said pair of hand coverings at each fingertip.
16. The glove and sleeve system of claim 1, wherein said plurality of fasteners are configured to provide a protective seal when said pair of hand coverings and said pair of sleeves are connected.
17. The glove and sleeve system of claim 1, further includes a bag for storage during non-use.
18. The glove and sleeve system of claim 1, wherein said pair of sleeves are optionally worn in conjunction with said pair of hand coverings as desired.
19. A glove and sleeve system, the glove and sleeve system comprising:
a garment assembly including;
a pair of hand coverings;
a pair of sleeves; and
a plurality of fasteners;
wherein said pair of hand coverings, said pair of sleeves, and said plurality of fasteners are configured to be selectively used in modular combination;
wherein said pair of hand coverings are selected from a group consisting of a glove and a mitten;
wherein said garment assembly is insulated;
wherein said garment assembly is water resistant;
wherein said pair of hand coverings further comprise a pull-string for further securing said pair of hand coverings to said wrists of said user-wearer;
wherein one of said pair of hand coverings are configured to be worn on each respective hand of a user-wearer and one of said pair of sleeves are configured to be worn on a forearm portion of each respective arm of said user-wearer;
wherein said plurality of fasteners are positioned along a top-end of each one of said pair of hand coverings and a mating bottom-end of each one of said pair of sleeves;
wherein each of said pair of sleeves further include a fastener-covering configured to provide a protective flap concealing said plurality of fasteners;
wherein said plurality of fasteners include hook and loop fasteners;
wherein said pair of hand coverings and said pair of sleeves are configured to be removeably attached via said plurality of fasteners to create effectively a single continuous member for insulated full coverage of said hands, wrists, and said arms of said user-wearer when worn;
wherein said plurality of fasteners of said pair of hand coverings are configured on an inner surface of said pair of hand coverings at said top-end of each one of said pair of hand coverings;
wherein said plurality of fasteners of said pair of sleeves are configured on an outer surface of said pair of sleeves at said bottom-end of each one of said pair of sleeves;
wherein said pair of hand coverings are configured to be used with and without said pair of sleeves attached thereto;
wherein said pair of sleeves are flexible and configured to allow movement of an elbow during use;
wherein said pair of hand coverings further include gripping members;
wherein said gripping members are touch screen compatible and are configured to allow said user-wearer to use a touch screen display while wearing said pair of hand coverings on said hands;
wherein said gripping members are positioned on an outer surface of said pair of hand coverings at each fingertip; and
wherein said plurality of fasteners are configured to provide a protective seal when said pair of hand coverings and said pair of sleeves are connected.
