Description

wmm?
Get 1935 D. E. PARSONS AUTOMOBILE SERVER Filed Sept. 18, 1934 2 Sheets-Sheet l Inventor am'e/ Ei' I Parsons Atto'mey Patented Oct. 1, 1935 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICIE 1 Claim.
The present invention relates to a device for serving goods and drinks to the occupants of automobiles and the object of the invention resides in the provision of a structure of this nature which is exceedingly simple, inexpensive to manufacture, strong and durable, easy to handle, convenient in use, thoroughly efiicient and reliable and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
With the above and numerous other objects in View as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will hereinafter be more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 represents a fragmentary perspective View of an automobile body showing my server in place on one of the window ledges.
Figure 2 is a side elevation of the server.
Figure 3 is a topplan view thereof.
Figure 4 is an end elevation of the server showing a portion in section.
Referring to the drawings in detail it will be seen that the body of the server is preferably constructed of a single sheet of metal bent so as to provide a top side having depending sides 6 which merge into outwardly directed bottom flanges l. The bottom of the top 5 and the inner surfaces of the side 6 are lined with suitable material such as felt or the like indicated at 8 to prevent scarring of the window ledge of the automobile when the device is placed thereon as shown in Figure l. A suitable number of wells 9 are mounted on the flanges or ledges 1 for holding bottles, glasses, salt and pepper containers and the like, the size, shape and number of these wells may be varied to meet requirements.
On the top 5 there is mounted a sandwich 5 tray H]. An arcuate handle H has its ends fixed in the center sides of the tray so that the server may be conveniently carried from place to place.
It is thought that the construction, utility and advantages of this server will now be quite ap- 10 parent to those skilled in this art without a more detailed description thereof.
The present embodiment of the invention has been described in considerable detail merely for the purposes of exempliflcatio-n since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.
It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
A device of the class described comprising an elongated body of inverted U-shape in cross section and having integral laterally extending flanges on the lower portion of the sides thereof and a plurality of spaced, upstanding cylindrical shaped wells secured on each of the laterally extending flanges.
