Abstract
In accordance with aspects of the present invention, a wrist band includes a first strap; a second strap; and a device mount coupled between the first strap and the second strap. The device mount can include a round receiver, a square receiver, a C-clasp mount, or a clasp mount. In some embodiments, the device mount can be included in a clasp. In some embodiments, the device mount can include a body mounted to a base and a cover coupled to the base wherein the body and the cover flex to allow a device to be inserted into the body.

- The present application is related and claims priority to the following applications: U.S. Provisional Application Ser. - 1. Technical Field
- Embodiments of the present invention are related to a dual watch bands and, in particular, to various mounts for watches on dual watch bands.
- 2. Discussion of Related Art
- The projection of new digital watches that have a high degree of functionality will present owners of fine watches with a quandary: whether to wear the high value fine watch or to wear the highly functional digital watch. The highly functional digital watch, for example the Apple Watch from Apple, has a high level of functionality, similar to that of smart phones. Wearers of the highly function digital watches will enjoy the functionality of a smart phone on their wrist.
- Therefore, there is a need to develop better watch band configurations that accommodate smart watches.
- In accordance with aspects of the present invention, a wrist band includes a first strap; a second strap; and a device mount coupled between the first strap and the second strap. The device mount can include a round receiver, a square receiver, a C-clasp mount, or a clasp mount.
- In some embodiments, the device mount can be included in a clasp. In some embodiments, the device mount can include a body mounted to a base and a cover coupled to the base wherein the body and the cover flex to allow a device to be inserted into the body.

FIG. 1 illustrates an example of awatch band 100 according to some embodiments of the present invention. As shown inFIG. 1 ,watch band 100 includes afirst section 102 and asecond section 104. As shown inFIG. 1 ,watch band 100 couples awatch 106 with awatch 108 wherefirst section 102 andsecond section 104 couple watch 106 and watch 108 into a single wearable watchband with two watches. Watch 106 and watch 108 can be any pair of watches. However,watch band 100 can be used to mount a decorative watch, watch 106, with a highly functional smart digital watch, watch 108. For example, for those that do not wish to abandon wearing of an expensive high-end watch but would also like the functionality of a smart digital watch, watch 106 can be a high end watch and watch 108 can be a smart digital watch. - As shown in
FIG. 1 ,sections watches FIG. 1 is a standard pin type, or spring bar, connection so thatsection 102 couples to watch 106 withconnector 112 and to watch 108 withconnector 110 whilesection 104 couples to watch 106 withconnector 116 and couples to watch 108 withconnector 114. As is further discussed below, other connections can be made. Further, in someembodiments section watch 108 formed in the now single piece band. Additionally, in some embodiments a clasp may be formed insection 102,section 104, or both. Band 100 can be formed of any material capable of holdingwatch 106 and watch 108. For example,band 100 can be formed as an expansion bracelet, can be formed of leather, simulated hides, metal, precious metals, cloth, fabric, nylon, rubber plastic, composite materials or other material. Band 100 can be formed to various designs and patterns and can be formed of combinations of materials. -
FIGS. 2A and 2B illustrate one way of wearingband 100 whileFIGS. 3A and 3B show another way of wearingband 100. In some examples,band 100 may be configured such that watch 106 is on the opposite side of the band fromwatch 108. In some examples, the links ofband 100 on either side ofwatches band 100 may be configured such that watch 108 is placed on the outer wrist whilewatch 106 is placed on the inner wrist when worn. In some examples, the links ofband 100 on either side ofwatches band 100 may be configured such that whenwatch 108 is placed on the outerwrist, watch 106 may be placed on the side of the wrist. In some examples,band 100 may be configured to connect additional watches. -

In some cases, a back 808 ofwatch 108 can make physical contact with the wearer throughopening 802. Back 808 may include sensors for monitoring parameters of the wearer. As is shown inFIG. 38A ,device 3808, which may be a watch such aswatches wrist band 100, includes amount 3806.Mount 3806 includes apin 3814, which can engage withclasp 3804. In the example illustrated inFIG. 38A ,clasp 3804 includes acoupler 3810 that couples to strap 3802 and ahinge 3812 that allowsclasp 3804 to fold over and attach atcoupler 3810. As is illustrated inFIGS. 38B and 38C ,clasp 3804 is inserted betweenpin 3814 anddevice 3808. As is illustrated inFIG. 38D ,clasp 3804 is then closed onto itself to mountdevice 3808 ontostrap 3802. As such,clasp 3804 can be inserted through the opening betweenpin 3814 anddevice 3808 onmount 3806, folder over and snapped into place against themount portion 3810 ofclasp 3804 in order to close andsecure device 3808 ontostrap 3802. -

As shown,mount 4102 includes aslide insert 4104 that slides intoslot 4108.Mount 4102 further includes abar 4106 that receivesclasp 3804, which is mounted onstrap 3802.FIG. 4108 further illustrates amount 4110, which is received intoslot 4108 oppositemount 4102, that couples to strap 3902.FIG. 41B showsstrap 3902 coupled todevice 3808 withmount 4110.FIG. 41C illustratesmount 4102 inserted intoslot 4108 ondevice 3808 and ready to receiveclasp 3804.FIG. 41D illustratesclasp 3804 inserted behindbar 4106.FIG. 41E illustratesclasp 3804 closed around mount 4102 to fixdevice 3808 tostrap 3802.FIG. 41F illustrates anextender 4112 that can be used to attachstrap 3902 to mount 4110. - In the preceding specification, various embodiments have been described with reference to the accompanying drawings. It will, however, be evident that various modifications and changes may be made thereto, and additional embodiments may be implemented, without departing from the broader scope of the invention as set for in the claims that follow. The specification and drawings are accordingly to be regarded in an illustrative rather than restrictive sense.
Claims (35)
1. A wrist band, comprising:
a first strap;
a second strap; and
a device mount coupled between the first strap and the second strap.
2. The wrist band of claim 1 , wherein a second device is coupled between the first strap and the second strap opposite the device mount.
3. The wrist band of claim 2 , wherein a first watch is mounted in the device mount.
4. The wrist band of claim 3 , wherein the second device is a second watch.
5. The wrist band of claim 1 , wherein the device mount comprises:
a receiver for a watch;
a first connector for connecting to the first strap; and
a second connector for connecting to the second strap.
6. The wrist band of claim 5 , wherein the first connector and the second connector are one of a set of connectors consisting of spring-pin connectors, pin connectors, alligator connectors, and slide connectors.
7. The wrist band of claim 3 , wherein the receiver is square to frictionally receive a square device.
8. The wrist band of claim 3 , wherein the receiver is round to frictionally receive a round device.
9. The wrist band of claim 3 , wherein the receiver is a C-clasp mount.
10. The wrist band of claim 9 , wherein the C-clasp mount is a left-side C-clasp mount.
11. The wrist band of claim 9 , wherein the C-clasp mount is a right-side C-clasp mount.
12. The wrist band of claim 1 , wherein the device mount includes a clasp with a receiver, the clasp comprising
a base portion;
a hinged portion; and
a top portion.
13. The wrist band of claim 12 , wherein the top portion includes a receiver for a device.
14. The wrist band of claim 12 , wherein the receiver is formed through the clasp.
15. The wrist band of claim 12 , wherein the receiver includes a circular mount.
16. The wrist band of claim 12 , wherein the receiver includes a square mount.
17. The wrist band of claim 12 , wherein the receiver includes a c-mount.
18. The wrist band of claim 1 , wherein the device mount comprises:
a body mounted to a base;
a cover coupled to the base, wherein the body and the cover flex to allow a device to be inserted into the body; and
couplers mounted to the base to allow the mount to be attached to the first strap and the second strap.
19. The wrist band of claim 18 , wherein the couplers are one of a set of connectors consisting of spring-pin connectors, pin connectors, alligator connectors, and slide connectors.
20. The wrist band of claim 1 , further including a cover that mounts over the device mount.
21. The wrist band of claim 20 , wherein the cover is a rigid cover that mounts into grooves formed in the first portion and the second portion on either side of the device mount.
22. The wrist band of claim 21 , wherein the cover is hinged in one of the grooves.
23. The wrist band of claim 20 , wherein the cover is a flexible material.
24. The wrist band of claim 1 , wherein the device mount is a clasp mount, the clasp mount comprising:
a coupler;
a hinged portion attached to the coupler;
a clasp portion attached to the hinged portion and foldable onto the coupler; and
a device mount that engages the clasp portion.
25. The wrist band of claim 24 , wherein the coupler is coupled to the first strap or the second strap and the device mount is coupled to a device.
26. The wrist band of claim 24 wherein the coupler is coupled to the device and the device mount is coupled to the first strap or the second strap.
27. The wrist band of claim 24 , wherein a second clasp mount is provided opposite the clasp mount.
28. The wrist band of claim 24 , wherein the clasp mount includes a third strap coupled between a device and the device mount or the coupler.
29. The wrist band of claim 24 , further including a cover inserted over the device mount.
30. The wrist band of claim 24 , wherein the device mount includes a slide portion insertable into a groove in a device.
31. A device mount, comprising:
a first strap coupler;
a second strap coupler; and
a receiver.
32. The device mount of claim 31 , wherein the first strap coupler and the second strap coupler are one of a set of couplers consisting of spring-pin connectors, pin connectors, alligator connectors, and slide connectors.
33. The device mount of claim 31 , wherein the receiver is one of a square receiver, a round receiver, a C-clasp mount, or a clasp mount.
34. The device of claim 31 , wherein the receiver comprises
a body mounted to a base;
a cover coupled to the base, wherein the body and the cover flex to allow a device to be inserted into the body; and
couplers mounted to the base to allow the mount to be attached to the first strap and the second strap.
35. The device of claim 31 , further including a cover.
