  • FIG. 1 depicts a method 100 of adapting a stand-up paddleboard in accordance with an embodiment of the invention. With regard to method 100, an apparatus such as a stand-up paddleboard may be modified in one or more way to include one or more structures, such as a support apparatus for at least in part supporting a person in an at least in part seated position. With regard to box 102, an apparatus such as a stand-up paddleboard may be modified such as by installing a mounting mechanism which may be attached to a portion of the stand-up paddleboard. For example, one or more mounting brackets may be attached to a surface of a stand-up paddleboard. In this example, the mounting bracket may comprise one or more surfaces, such as a surface for creating a contact point with the stand-up paddleboard. In this example, the mounting bracket may be affixed to the stand-up paddleboard such as with one or more of glue, epoxy, fiberglass, or other affixing compositions or devices, such as screws, bolts, rivets, or other similar affixing compositions or devices. Furthermore, in this example the mounting bracket may comprise one or more positions, such as one or more positions in a space a a few inches to a few feet, for attaching a support structure as discussed further below. In this way a user may adjust the position of the support structure upon an axis, such as a long axis of a stand-up paddleboard.
  • With regard to box 104, method 100 may further comprise attaching an at least in part retractable and rotatable support platform to the one or more mounting mechanisms. In this example, the support platform may be rotatable about one or more positions on the one or more mounting mechanisms. For example, the support platform may be attached by a bolt, axel, bearing or other structure or device that allows the support structure to be rotated through a determined amount of angular rotation, such as 180 degrees of rotation, about one or more portions of the one or more mounting mechanisms. In this example, the support platform may comprise one or more poles, such as one or more telescoping poles, such that a length of the support structure may be adapted to one or more users of different heights or desiring different seating positions. Furthermore, in this example, the one or more telescoping poles may comprise plastic, aluminum, fiberglass, resin, or other suitable material formed into one or more tubes which may be adjusted in a telescoping fashion to alter a length of the support structure.
  • With regard to box 106, method 100 may further comprise attaching a seating apparatus to the at least in part retractable and rotatable support platform. In this example, the seating apparatus may comprise a surface designed to support a person in an at least partially seated position. Furthermore, in this example, the seating apparatus may be formed from a variety of materials, including fabrics, plastics, foam, metals, or other materials suitable for at least partially supporting the weight of a person. In this example, the seating apparatus may further comprise one or more materials that may be capable of being at least partially buoyant in water. For example, in at least one embodiment of the invention the seating apparatus may function as a floatation device for a user to at least in part assist a user in maintaining an at least partially positive buoyancy if the user is partially immersed in a body of water. Though, it should be noted that these are merely example embodiments and that claimed subject matter is not limited in this regard.
  • FIG. 2 depicts an embodiment of a stand-up paddleboard 200 in accordance with an aspect of an embodiment. With regard to FIG. 2, stand-up paddleboard 200 may have had a mounting structure 201 installed, such as described above with regard to FIG. 1. In this embodiment, mounting structure 201 may comprise one or more mounting positions, such as mounting positions 202, 204, 206, and 208, for example. In this manner a support structure such as one described both above and below may be affixed at one or more positions along an axis of stand-up paddleboard 200, such as axis 210. In this manner a user may adjust a position of the support structure along the paddleboard that best suits a user's desires or intended uses of the support structure. Though, it should be noted that these are merely example embodiments and that claimed subject matter is not limited in this regard.
  • FIG. 3 depicts a stand-up paddleboard 300 in accordance with an aspect of an embodiment. In this example embodiment stand-up paddleboard 300 may comprise a mounting structure 302, such as one of the mounting structures described above.
