Description

    FIELD
  • The present disclosure relates to a walking weight and, more particularly, to a walking weight that includes safety features.
  • BACKGROUND
  • Various types of walking weights exist in the art. Particularly, walking weights exist that have an audible signal as well as a light emitting signal. These walking weights appear to work satisfactorily for their intended purposes. However, designers strive to improve the art. Thus, the present disclosure is aimed at improving walking weights that provide safety features.
  • The present disclosure provides the art with a walking weight that provides an audible alarm as well as a silent alarm transmitted to the legal authorities. The present disclosure provides the art with a hanging strap which, if dislodged from the walking weight, likewise provides the audible alarm as well as the silent alarm to the legal authorities. The present disclosure provides the art with a walking weight that has cellular, GPS, calorie counting, mapping and routing, heart rate sensing, flashlight receiving of web applications and pedometer capabilities. The present disclosure also provides the art with a recharageable device that includes an SD card slot.
  • SUMMARY
  • According to a first embodiment, the walking weight comprises a weighted body having two ends. A cavity is present in the body. A rechargeable power source is positioned in the cavity. An IC chip is electrically coupled with the power source. The IC chip has cellular capabilities. An emergency alert button is positioned on the body. When activated, the emergency alert button transmits a signal to the IC chip which, in turns, transmits a signal to legal authorities. Also, a strap is removably coupled with an electrical port on the body. The electrical port is electrically coupled with the IC chip. When the strap is dislodged from the electrical port, a signal is sent to the IC chip which, in turns, transmits a signal to legal authorities. An audible alarm is simultaneously activated upon pushing of the button or dislodgement of the strap. The IC chip also has GPS, calorie counting, pedometer, map and route, heart sensing, flashlight, and web application receiving capabilities. A blue tooth audio system may be received in the cavity with speakers projecting from the body. An inlayed screen, preferably of the touch type, is inlayed on the body. The screen is electrically coupled with the integrated circuit chip as well as with the power source. An SD card slot is present on the body to receive a cellular card.
  • Further areas of applicability will become apparent from the description provided herein. The description and specific examples in this summary are intended for purposes of illustration only and are not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure.
  • DRAWINGS
  • The drawings described herein are for illustrative purposes only of selected embodiments and not all possible implementations, and are not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure.
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the hand weight in accordance with the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is an elevation view of FIG. 1.
  • FIG. 3 is a cross-section view of FIG. 2.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • Example embodiments will now be described more fully with reference to the accompanying drawings.
  • Turning to the figures, a walk weight is illustrated and designated with the reference numeral 10. The walk weight 10 includes a body 12 with a pair of ends 14, 16. The body 12 has an overall cylindrical shape with the ends providing a truncated cone appearance. The body 12 and ends 14, 16 are generally unitarily formed; however, the ends 14, 16 could be separate parts or could be removable to change the weight of the walk weight. The body 12 may be manufactured out of any desirable material such as plastic, metal, ceramic or the like. The body 12 includes a hollow cavity 20. Additionally, the body has a cut-out 22 that receives a screen 24.
  • The body 12 also includes a plurality of electrical ports. The body includes a charge port 26, a strap receiving port 28 and an SD card port 30. The ends 14, 16 include apertures 32, 34 to receive speakers 36, 38. Additionally, the end 16 include an alert or panic button aperture 40 that receives the alert or panic button 42.
  • Viewing FIG. 3, the cross-sectional view of the body, as can be seen, weights 44 in phantom may optionally be positioned in the cavity. The weights 44 are positioned on the ends 14, 16. Thus, the weights 44 can be removable to adjust the weight of the walk weight.
  • As can be seen in FIG. 3, rechargeable batteries 50 are positioned in the cavity. The rechargeable batteries 50 are electrically coupled with a IC chip 52 or CPU positioned in the cavity. The IC chip or CPU is electrically connected with the screen 24, speakers 36, 38, battery 50, panic button 42, as well as the electrical ports 26, 28, and 30.
  • The screen 24 includes a menu that provides the device 10 with several options. However, the panic alert button 42 and wrist strap 60, which is coupled with port 28, bypass the menu. These features are directly electrically coupled with the IC chip 52 so that if the button 42 is pressed or the wrist strap is removed or dislodged from port 28, a signal is sent from the button 42 or port 28 to the IC chip which, in turns, transmits, via a cellular network, bluetooth, near field communication (WIFI, etc.), or a signal to a cellular device to the legal authorities, such as the police, park ranger, or the like that the user with the walk weight is in need of help. Additionally, an audible signal or alarm is simultaneously activated by pushing in the button or the dislodgement of the wrist strap so that the audible alarm is blasted through the speakers 36, 38.
  • The touch screen has the ability to electrically communicate with the IC chip or CPU to activate various features of the walk weight. The IC chip 52 or CPU has GPS capability. The GPS signal bypasses the screen so that the GPS tracking is always activated once the walk weight is activated or turned on.
  • A blue tooth audio system is integrated into the IC chip 52 so that a Smartphone or the like may be played through the speakers of the walk weight 10. Additionally, a calorie counting circuit, a pedometer circuit, a map or routing circuit, a heart rate sensing circuit 54, flashlight bulb 56 and a web application circuit may be integrated with the IC chip 52, in a conventional manner, to provide these features to the walk weight. In this case, these features would be shown on the screen 24 so that the user may pick and choose the desired function from the menu. These features can be activated or deactivated by the user so that the user may have the desired function. The web application circuit would enable communication, via the cellular network, so that different maps or routes could be downloaded to the IC chip 52 or PCU and displayed on the screen.
  • Additionally, an SD card could activated the cellular service of the walk weight. Thus, the IC chip 52 or CPU is connected with the cellular network so that the authorities may be contacted when the walk weight is activated by the alert button or the dislodgement of the wrist strap. Additionally, other information may be stored on the SD card and the function may be on the SD card instead of the IC chip.
  • Thus, in use, when the user is confronted by a situation, the user can hit the alert or panic button 42 or dislodge the wrist strap 60 from the walk weight. Either function activates the IC chip 52 and a signal is sent to the legal authorities. Also, an audible alarm is activated.
  • In the event, of a false alarm, the user can hold the alert or panic button in for five seconds so that the transmission or the signal is terminated.
  • The foregoing description of the embodiments has been provided for purposes of illustration and description. It is not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the disclosure. Individual elements or features of a particular embodiment are generally not limited to that particular embodiment, but, where applicable, are interchangeable and can be used in a selected embodiment, even if not specifically shown or described. The same may also be varied in many ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the disclosure, and all such modifications are intended to be included within the scope of the disclosure.
