Abstract
A chair with cold protection hand pockets includes a chair body having a seat, a backrest upward extended from a rear edge of the seat, and two armrests located above two lateral side of the seat; and a base located below the chair body to support the seat at a predetermined height from the ground. Two cold protection hand pockets are provided on front ends of the two armrests. Each of the cold protection hand pockets encloses a receiving space having an inlet opening, via which a user may extend one hand into the receiving space. When the chair is used outdoors, the user may rest two arms on the armrests with two hands extended through the inlet openings into the receiving spaces of the cold protection hand pockets to achieve the purpose of protecting hands against cold and wind while keeping hands warm.
Description
- The present invention relates to a chair with cold protection hand pockets, and more particularly to a chair having cold protection hand pockets provided on two armrests thereof.
- Living in the modern society, leisure activities have become very important to people who are fatigued with hard work everyday and accumulated pressure. People try to remove their pressure and fatigue through contact with the nature during leisure activities. Therefore, various kinds of products in connection with leisure and outdoor activities have been designed and developed for consumers.

FIG. 1 shows afolding leisure chair 1, which is very common in the market. The foldingleisure chair 1 includes acollapsible chair frame 11 formed of four sets of sequentially pivotally connectedscissor linkages 10. Each of thescissor linkages 10 is formed of twolink bars 12, which cross each other and are pivotally connected at the intersection. Two upper ends of a front one of the fourscissor linkages 10 are upward extended and then laterally outward bent to provide two armrest supports 13. Acanvas seat 14 is assembled to a top of thechair frame 11 and twocanvas armrests 15 are located above two lateral sides of thechair frame 11 to form the foldingleisure chair 1. - While the currently commercially available folding
leisure chair 1 is collapsible to largely reduce its volume for convenient storage and good portability, it serves only as a chair without other functions, such as protecting a user's hands against cold and wind, and therefore fails to satisfy the users in terms of its use in outdoor leisure activities. - It is therefore desirable to develop a leisure chair with cold protection hand pockets, so that the leisure chair is more practical for use.
- A primary object of the present invention is to provide a chair with cold protection hand pockets, whereby when the chair is used outdoors, a user sitting on the chair may extend two hands into the cold protection hand pockets to protect hands against cold and wind while keeping hands warm.
- To achieve the above and other objects, the chair with cold protection hand pockets according to the present invention includes a chair body and a base located below the chair body to support the latter at a predetermined height from the ground. The chair body includes a seat for a user to sit on, a backrest upward extended from a rear edge of the seat for resting the user's back, and two armrests forward extended from the backrest to locate above two lateral sides of the seat. The chair is characterized by two cold protection hand pockets provided on front ends of the two armrests. Each of the cold protection hand pockets has a hand-cover portion and a connection portion, and the hand-cover portion encloses a receiving space having an inlet opening, via which a user may extend one hand into the receiving space.
- The cold protection hand pockets are turnable at the connection portions to selectively move the hand-cover portions between a vertically suspended and downward pointed position and a freely adjustable hand covering position.
- In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, each of the cold protection hand pockets is formed of a first fabric sheet and a second fabric sheet, which are sewed together along part of their edges. The first fabric sheet has a first section, which is located corresponding to the second fabric sheet and cooperates with the latter to define the receiving space between them, and a second section, which is upward located beyond the second fabric sheet and forms the connection portion.
- Further, the seat, the backrest and the armrests of the chair body are made of a soft fabric material and the base is in the form of a collapsible frame. Therefore, the chair body can be selectively set into an extended state for the user to sit on simply by extending the collapsible frame of the base, or into a collapsed state for convenient storage by collapsing the collapsible frame of the base.
- The base includes four sets of scissor linkages, which are correspondingly located at a front, a rear, a left and a right side of the base. The four sets of scissor linkages are pivotally connected with one another by pivotally connecting their lower ends to four foot supports and their upper ends to four pivotal joints, so as to form the collapsible frame. The collapsible frame further includes two back poles, which respectively have a lower section and an upper section. The lower sections of the back poles are downwardly extended through two rear ones of the four pivotal joints to connect to two rear ones of the foot supports.
- However, the upper ends of the front one of the four scissor linkages are upward extended and then laterally outward bent to provide two armrest supports.
- Further, the chair body is formed of a third fabric sheet and a fourth fabric sheet upward extended from the third fabric sheet. The third fabric sheet is located on the pivotal joints with two front corners of the third fabric sheet fitted on around the two upper ends of the front scissor linkage and two rear corners fitted on around the two back poles, such that the third fabric sheet forms the seat. The fourth fabric sheet has two lateral sides fitted on around the upper sections of the back poles to thereby form the backrest.
- The armrests are respectively formed of a fifth fabric sheet. The fifth fabric sheets are connected at their front ends to the armrest supports of the collapsible frame with their rear ends fitted on around the back poles.
- The chair of the present invention is characterized in having two cold protection hand pockets. The cold protection hand pockets are connected to the front ends of the armrests, and respectively enclose a receiving space for receiving a hand therein. When the chair is used outdoors, the user may rest two arms on the armrests with two hands extended into the receiving spaces of the cold protection hand pockets to achieve the purpose of protecting hands against cold and wind while keeping hands warm.

FIG. 6 is an exploded perspective view ofFIG. 2 . - The present invention will now be described with a preferred embodiment thereof and with reference to the accompanying drawings.
- Please refer to
FIG. 2 , in which a chair with cold protection hand pockets according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention is shown. For the purpose of conciseness, the present invention is also briefly referred to as the chair herein and generally denoted byreference numeral 2. As shown, thechair 2 includes achair body 20 and abase 30 located below thechair body 20 to support the latter at a predetermined height from the ground. Thechair body 20 includes aseat 21 for a user to sit on, abackrest 22 upward extended from a rear edge of theseat 21 for resting the user's back, and twoarmrests 23 forward extended from thebackrest 22 to locate above two lateral sides of theseat 21. - Please refer to
FIG. 3 . Thechair 2 is characterized in having a coldprotection hand pocket 40 provided on a front end of each of the twoarmrests 23. Each of the coldprotection hand pockets 40 has a hand-cover portion 41 and aconnection portion 42. The hand-cover portion 41 encloses areceiving space 44 having an inlet opening 43. The user may extend one hand into thereceiving space 44 of the hand-cover portion 41 via the inlet opening 43. - In the illustrated preferred embodiment, the cold
protection hand pocket 40 each is formed by sewing afirst fabric sheet 45 and asecond fabric sheet 46 together along part of their edges. Thefirst fabric sheet 45 has afirst section 451, which is located corresponding to thesecond fabric sheet 46 and cooperates with the latter to define thereceiving space 44 between them, and asecond section 452, which is upward located beyond thesecond fabric sheet 46 and forms theconnection portion 42. - Please refer to
FIGS. 3 , 4 and 5. When thechair 2 is not in use, the coldprotection hand pockets 40 are in a vertically downward suspendedposition 411 with the hand-cover portions 41 pointed toward the ground. And, when thechair 2 is in use and the user sits on theseat 21 of thechair body 20 with two arms rested on the twoarmrests 23, the user may further extend two hands into thereceiving spaces 44 via theinlet openings 43. Then, the user may selectively turn theconnection portion 42 to move the hand-cover portions 41 of the coldprotection hand pockets 40 to a hand-coveringposition 412. The hand-coveringposition 412 is adjustable according to the user's preference or need in use without being particularly limited to a certain fixed position. With these arrangements, when thechair 2 is used outdoors, the user may conveniently place two hands in thereceiving spaces 44 via theinlet openings 43 to protect the hands against cold or wind. -
FIG. 6 is an exploded perspective view of thechair 2 in the illustrated preferred embodiment. As shown, theseat 21, thebackrest 22 and thearmrests 23 of thechair body 20 are made of a soft material, and thebase 30 is in the form of acollapsible frame 31, with which thechair body 20 can be set into an extended state for the user to sit on or into a collapsed state for convenient storage. Therefore, thechair 2 not in use can be collapsed to largely reduce its volume and be conveniently stored without the problem of occupying a large space. - The
base 30 includes four sets ofscissor linkages 32, which are correspondingly located at a front, a rear, a left and a right side of thebase 30. The four sets ofscissor linkages 32 are pivotally connected at their lower ends to four foot supports 33 and at their upper ends to fourpivotal joints 34, so as to pivotally connect with one another and form thecollapsible frame 31. Thecollapsible frame 31 can further include twoback poles 35, which respectively have alower section 351 and anupper section 352. Thelower sections 351 of theback poles 35 are downwardly extended through two rear ones of thepivotal joints 34 to connect to two rear ones of the foot supports 33, so that thecollapsible frame 31 can be collapsed from an extended state through manipulating the twoback poles 35 for convenient storage. The upper ends of the front one of thescissor linkages 32 are upward extended and then laterally outward bent to provide two armrest supports 321. - The
chair body 20 is formed of athird fabric sheet 24 and afourth fabric sheet 25 upward extended from a rear side of thethird fabric sheet 24. Thethird fabric sheet 24 is located on thepivotal joints 34 with two front corners of thethird fabric sheet 24 fitted on around the two upper ends of thefront scissor linkage 32 and two rear corners fitted on around the twoback poles 35, such that thethird fabric sheet 24 forms theseat 21. Thefourth fabric sheet 25 has two lateral sides fitted on around theupper sections 352 of theback poles 35, such that thefourth fabric sheet 25 forms thebackrest 22. - The
armrests 23 are respectively formed of afifth fabric sheet 26. Thefifth fabric sheets 26 are connected at their front ends to the armrest supports 321 with their rear ends fitted on around theback poles 35. - In summary, the present invention provides a chair with cold protection hand pockets. The cold protection hand pockets are connected to the front ends of the armrests, and respectively enclose a receiving space having an inlet opening. When the chair is used outdoors, the user may rest two arms on the armrests with two hands extended through the inlet openings into the receiving spaces of the cold protection hand pockets to achieve the purpose of protecting hands against cold and wind.
- The present invention has been described with a preferred embodiment thereof and it is understood that many changes and modifications in the described embodiment can be carried out without departing from the scope and the spirit of the invention that is intended to be limited only by the appended claims.
Claims (9)
1. A chair with cold protection hand pockets, comprising a chair body and a base located below the chair body to support the latter at a predetermined height from the ground; the chair body including a seat for a user to sit on, a backrest upward extended from a rear edge of the seat for resting the user's back, and two armrests forward extended from the backrest to locate above two lateral sides of the seat, being characterized by:
two cold protection hand pockets provided on front ends of the two armrests; each of the cold protection hand pockets having a hand-cover portion and a connection portion, and the hand-cover portion enclosing a receiving space having an inlet opening, via which a user may extend one hand into the receiving space.
2. The chair with cold protection hand pockets as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the cold protection hand pockets are turnable at the connection portions to selectively move the hand-cover portions between a vertically suspended and downward pointed position and a freely adjustable hand covering position.

The chair with cold protection hand pockets as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the cold protection hand pockets are respectively formed of a first fabric sheet and a second fabric sheet, which are sewed together along part of their edges; the first fabric sheet having a first section, which is located corresponding to the second fabric sheet and cooperates with the latter to define the receiving space between them, and a second section, which is upward located beyond the second fabric sheet and forms the connection portion.
4. The chair with cold protection hand pockets as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the seat, the backrest and the armrests of the chair body are made of a soft fabric material and the base is in the form of a collapsible frame; whereby the chair body can be selectively set into an extended state for the user to sit on simply by extending the collapsible frame of the base, or into a collapsed state for convenient storage by collapsing the collapsible frame of the base.

The chair with cold protection hand pockets as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the base includes four sets of scissor linkages, which are correspondingly located at a front, a rear, a left and a right side of the base; and the four sets of scissor linkages being pivotally connected with one another by pivotally connecting their lower ends to four foot supports and their upper ends to four pivotal joints, so as to form the collapsible frame.

The chair with cold protection hand pockets as claimed in claim 5 , wherein the collapsible frame further includes two back poles, which respectively have a lower section and an upper section; the lower sections of the back poles being downwardly extended through two rear ones of the four pivotal joints to connect to two rear ones of the foot supports.
7. The chair with cold protection hand pockets as claimed in claim 6 , wherein the upper ends of the front one of the four scissor linkages are upward extended and then laterally outward bent to provide two armrest supports.

The chair with cold protection hand pockets as claimed in claim 7 , wherein the chair body is formed of a third fabric sheet and a fourth fabric sheet upward extended from a rear side of the third fabric sheet; the third fabric sheet being located on the pivotal joints with two front corners of the third fabric sheet fitted on around the two upper ends of the front scissor linkage and two rear corners fitted on around the two back poles, such that the third fabric sheet forms the seat;
and the fourth fabric sheet having two lateral sides fitted on around the upper sections of the back poles to thereby form the backrest.
9. The chair with cold protection hand pockets as claimed in claim 7 , wherein the armrests are respectively formed of a fifth fabric sheet; and the fifth fabric sheets being connected at their front ends to the armrest supports of the collapsible frame with their rear ends fitted on around the back poles.
