FIGS. 1 to 3 show a first exemplary embodiment of anelectronic device 100, such as a cellular phone or any electronic device where a chip card is required. Theelectronic device 100 includes ahousing 10, achip card holder 20, afirst retaining board 40, asecond retaining board 50. - The
chip card holder 20 is attached to thehousing 10. Twochip cards 30 can be simultaneously attached to thechip card holder 20. Thechip card holder 20 includes abase 22, adrawer 24 and acabinet 26. Thecabinet 26 is defined in thebase 22, in which thedrawer 24 is received. - The
base 22 may be a portion of thehousing 10 or a separate element fixed to thehousing 10. In this exemplary embodiment, thebase 22 is a portion of thehousing 10. - The
drawer 24 includes afirst surface 242, asecond surface 243 spaced apart from thefirst surface 242, twoopposite sidewalls 244, afirst end 246 and asecond end 248 spaced apart from thefirst end 246. Thefirst surface 242 and thesecond surface 243 each define areceiving space 2422, in which one of the chip orflash cards 30 is received. Two limitingblocks 2442 protrudes from thesidewalls 244. In this exemplary embodiment, thelimiting blocks 2442 are located near thesecond end 248. Acutout 2462 is defined at thefirst end 246 and communicates with thereceiving spaces 2422. Thecutout 2462 facilitates an usergrasping chip cards 30 in thereceiving spaces 2422 and can be used to facilitate removal of thechips cards 30 from the drawer 34 when the drawer 34 is completely removed from thecabinet 26. - The
cabinet 26 includes areceiving compartment 262 and two limitinggrooves 264. Thedrawer 24 is slidably received in thereceiving compartment 262. Thelimiting grooves 264 are located at two sides of the receivingcompartment 262 and communicate with thereceiving compartment 262. Each limitingblock 2442 is slidably received in one of thelimiting grooves 264, to limit an inward maximum movement of thedrawer 24, when sliding relative to thebase 22. While in the current exemplary embodiment, thedrawer 24 can be completely removed from thecabinet 26, in other embodiments, there may be additional structure that prevents complete removal of thedrawer 24 and limits it outward maximum movement. - The
chip cards 30 may both be subscriber identity modules (SIM) card or memory cards; or one of thechip cards 30 is SIM card, theother chip card 30 is memory cards. - The
first retaining board 40 and thesecond retaining board 50 are oppositely attached to thehousing 10. Thefirst retaining board 40 has a firstelectrical connector 42. Thesecond retaining board 50 has a secondelectrical connector 52. In this exemplary embodiment, thefirst retaining board 40 and thesecond retaining board 50 is a circuit board each. - Furthermore, the
chip card holder 20 further includes acover 28 covering thedrawer 24 and detachably fixed to thebase 22 so thedrawer 24 is steadily fixed in thecabinet 26. In this exemplary embodiment, thecover 28 is substantially U-shaped, and includes amain body 282 and twolatching portions 284 protruding from opposite ends of themain body 282. Eachlatching portion 284 includes alatching block 2842. Thebase 22 defines aslot 222 for accommodating thecover 28. Thebase 22 further defines twolatching grooves 224. Eachlatching block 2842 is latched in one of thelatching groove 224 so thecover 28 is latched in theslot 222 and themain body 282 presses thedrawer 24 in thecabinet 26. - Referring to
FIGS. 4 to 6 , in use, thelatching blocks 2842 are released from thelatching grooves 224. Thecover 28 is detached from thehousing 10. Thedrawer 24 is slid completely out of thecabinet 26. Thechip cards 30 are put into the receivingspaces 2422. Thedrawer 24 is then slid back into thereceiving compartment 262 of thecabinet 26 until the limitingblocks 2442 are limited in the limitinggrooves 264. At this time, thechip cards 30 respectively and electrically connect with thefirst connector 42 and thesecond connector 52, thereby putting thechip cards 30 in theelectronic device 100. - In above
chip card holder 20, thedrawer 24 can be completely slid out of thecabinet 26 to expose it from thebase 22, thereby facilitatinggrasping chip cards 30 out of the receivingspaces 2422 or putting thechip cards 30 in the receivingspaces 2422. Additionally, the receivingspaces 2422 are arranged in a stack, thereby reducing the area occupied by thechip card holder 20. - Referring to
