Abstract
A box includes a base and a movable member. A cover is pivotably connected to the base and mounted onto the base which has a first engaging portion engaged with a second engaging portion on the cover to secure the cover to the base. The box has a recess and a stop portion extends from the inner surface of the recess. The movable member is located in the recess and a notch is defined in the mediate section of the movable member and mounted to the stop portion. The cover is pivoted away from the base to open the box by a movement of the movable member relative to the stop portion to disengage the first engaging portion from the second engaging portion.
Description
- The present invention relates to a box with an opening device, and more particularly, to an opening device which is pushed, pulled or rotated to easily open the box.
- A conventional cosmetic box generally includes a base and a cover which is mounted to and locked to the base by engaging members. When the users use the cosmetic box, the users separate the cover from the base to disengage the engaging members from each other. However, this opening action is not convenient for the users and the box might be damaged if the opening action is not properly operated. Taiwan Utility Model No. 278277 discloses a cosmetic box which has a button at the mediate part thereof and the button includes a pressing portion and a push portion, the user presses the pressing portion to allow the push portion to push the first link at the cover as to be separated from the second link on the base to open the cosmetic box. Although the button can be pushed to open the cosmetic box, the button has complicated structure and has higher manufacturing cost which has less competition in the market.
- The present invention intends to provide a cosmetic box with an opening device which is easily made and can easily open the cosmetic box.
- The present invention relates to a box and includes a base and a movable member. A cover is pivotably connected to the base and mounted onto the base which has a first engaging portion engaged with a second engaging portion on the cover to secure the cover to the base. The box has a recess and a stop portion extends from the inner surface of the recess. The movable member is located in the recess and a notch is defined in the mediate section of the movable member. The movable member is mounted to the stop portion.
- The cover is pivoted away from the base to open the box by a movement of the movable member relative to the stop portion to disengage the first engaging portion from the second engaging portion.
- Preferably, the stop portion has an inclined surface which is located corresponding to another inclined surface of an inside of the notch of the movable member.
- Preferably, an operation end of the movable member protrudes from the recess when the movable member is located in the recess. The operation end has an inclined surface and a gap is defined between the inclined surface of the operation end and the base.
- Preferably, the notch of the movable member is an annular notch which divides the movable member into an opening end and an operation end. The opening end is a cone-shaped end. The recess is located between the base and the cover. The stop portion has two protrusions respectively on the base and the cover. The protrusions are located corresponding to the annular notch. The stop portion has two inclined surfaces respectively located on the base and the cover. The two inclined surfaces are located corresponding to the cone-shaped opening end.
- Preferably, the movable member has a pivot which is connected to the opening end and the operation end, the opening end is eccentrically connected to the pivot.
- Preferably, the movable member is detachably located in the recess.
- Preferably, the box is a cosmetic box. The cover has a mirror connected thereto and the movable member has a brush portion.
- The primary object of the present invention is to provide an opening device that is pushed, pulled or rotated to easily open the cover relative to the base of the box.
- The present invention is suitable for cosmetic box, especially for opening the cosmetic box by using a movable member. The brush portion is connected to the movable member. The box is simple and easily manufactured so that the box is competitive in the market.
- The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

FIG. 5 is a cross sectional view to show the second embodiment of the box with the opening device of the present invention connected thereto; -
FIG. 6 is a cross sectional view to show that the cover is pivoted away from the base by operation of the opening device of the second embodiment of the present invention; -
FIG. 7 is a cross sectional view to show the third embodiment of the box with the opening device of the present invention connected thereto; -
FIG. 8 is a cross sectional view to show that the cover is pivoted away from the base by operation of the opening device of the third embodiment of the present invention; -
FIG. 9 is a cross sectional view to show the fourth embodiment of the box with the opening device of the present invention connected thereto, and -
FIG. 10 is a cross sectional view to show that the cover is pivoted away from the base by operation of the opening device of the fourth embodiment of the present invention. - Referring to
FIGS. 1 and 2 , thebox 1 of the present invention comprises abase 11 and acover 12 which is pivotably connected to thebase 11 and mounted onto thebase 11. Thebase 11 has more than onereception spaces 111 for receiving compact powder, lips or cosmetic powder. Amirror 121 is connected to thecover 12 for the user to make up. When the box is not in use, thecover 12 is pivoted and mounted to thebase 11 by engaging a firstengaging portion 112 on thebase 11 with a secondengaging portion 122 on thecover 12. - The
box 1 has arecess 13 defined therein and therecess 13 can be located in thebase 11, thecover 12 or between thebase 11 and thecover 12. Astop portion 14 extends from the inner surface of therecess 13 and has aninclined surface 141. - A
movable member 2 is detachably located in therecess 13 and a mediate section of themovable member 12 has anotch 21 which is located corresponding to thestop portion 14. Thenotch 21 has aninclined surface 211 at its inside thereof and theinclined surface 211 is located corresponding to theinclined surface 141 of thestop portion 14 so that when themovable member 2 is mounted to thestop portion 14 and located in therecess 13, thestop portion 14 prevents themovable member 2 from dropping off from therecess 13. Themovable member 2 has abrush portion 22 connected to a distal end thereof so that the user can use thebrush portion 22 on themovable member 2 to use the powder or compact powder. - As shown in
FIG. 3 , when the user wants to release the engagement between thebase 11 and thecover 12, the user pushes inward themovable member 2 along theinclined surface 141 of thestop portion 14 to allow themovable member 2 to move upward along theinclined surface 141 to pivot thecover 12 away from thebase 11 to disengage the firstengaging portion 112 from the secondengaging portion 122. It is noted that the direction that themovable member 2 can be moved outward, left or right by proper arrangement. -
FIGS. 4 and 5 show the second embodiment, wherein the difference from the first embodiment is that when themovable member 2A is located in therecess 13, thenotch 21A is mounted to thestop portion 14A. An operation end 22A of themovable member 2A protrudes from therecess 13. Theoperation end 22A has an inclined surface 221A and a gap “d” is defined between the inclined surface 221A of theoperation end 22A and thebase 11. There is abrush portion 23A on the distal end of themovable member 2A so that the users can use thebrush portion 23A to use the cosmetic powder or the compact powder. - As shown in
FIG. 6 , when the user wants to release the engagement between thebase 11 and thecover 12, the user pushes theoperation end 22A of themovable member 2A, due to the gap “d” between the inclined surface 221A of theoperation end 22A and thebox 1, themovable member 2A is pivoted about thestop portion 14A to lift themovable member 2A in therecess 13 to pivot thecover 12 away from thebase 11, and the firstengaging portion 112 is disengaged from the secondengaging portion 122. - As shown in
FIG. 7 which shows the third embodiment of the present invention, wherein the difference from the first embodiment is that thenotch 21B of themovable member 2B is anannular notch 21B which divides themovable member 2B into anopening end 22B and anoperation end 23B. Theopening end 22B is a cone-shaped end. Therecess 13 is located between the base 11 and thecover 12. Thestop portion 14B has twoprotrusions 141B respectively located on thebase 11 and thecover 12. Theprotrusions 141B are located corresponding to theannular notch 21B. Thestop portion 14B has twoinclined surfaces 142B respectively located on thebase 11 and thecover 12, and the twoinclined surfaces 142B are located corresponding to the cone-shapedopening end 22B. The users can use thebrush portion 24B to use the cosmetic powder or the compact powder. - As shown in
FIG. 8 , theprotrusions 141B of thestop portion 14B prevent themovable member 2B from dropping off from therecess 13 when themovable member 2B is installed in therecess 13. When the user wants to release the engagement between the base 11 and thecover 12, the user pushes theoperation end 23B of themovable member 2B inward and the openingend 22B moves along theinclined surface 142B to pivot thecover 12 away from thebase 11 and to disengage the first engagingportion 112 from the secondengaging portion 122. -
FIG. 9 shows the fourth embodiment which is an alternative embodiment of the third embodiment, wherein the notch of themovable member 2C is anannular notch 21 C which divides themovable member 2C into an openingend 22C and anoperation end 23C. Themovable member 2C has apivot 24C which is connected to the openingend 22C and theoperation end 23C. The openingend 22C is eccentrically connected to thepivot 24C. The openingend 22C is a cone-shaped end. Therecess 13 is located between the base 11 and thecover 12. Thestop portion 14C has twoprotrusions 141 C respectively located on thebase 11 and thecover 12. Theprotrusions 141C are located corresponding to theannular notch 21C. Thestop portion 14C has twoinclined surfaces 142C respectively located on thebase 11 and thecover 12, and the twoinclined surfaces 142C are located corresponding to the cone-shapedopening end 22. Themovable member 2C has thebrush portion 25C on the distal end thereof. The users can use thebrush portion 25C to use the cosmetic powder or the compact powder. - As shown in
FIG. 10 , when the user wants to release the engagement between the base 11 and thecover 12, the user rotates theoperation end 23C of themovable member 2C, due to that the openingend 22C is eccentrically connected to the pivot 24, the rotation of theoperation end 23C rotates the openingend 22C to rotate about thepivot 24C, such that thecover 12 is pivoted away from thebase 11 and the first engagingportion 112 is disengaged from the secondengaging portion 122. - By pushing, pulling, rotating the
movable members stop portion cover 12 is pivoted away from thebase 11, and the first engagingportion 112 is disengaged from the secondengaging portion 122. - While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
Claims (7)
1. A box comprising:
a base and a cover which is pivotably connected to the base and mounted onto the base, the base having a first engaging portion which is engaged with a second engaging portion on the cover;
the box having a recess and a stop portion extending from an inner surface of the recess, and
a movable member located in the recess and a mediate section of the movable member having a notch which is located corresponding to the stop portion, the movable member mounted to the stop portion, the cover being pivoted away from the base by a movement of the movable member relative to the stop portion to disengage the first engaging portion from the second engaging portion.
2. The box as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the stop portion has an inclined surface which is located corresponding to another inclined surface of an inside of the notch of the movable member.
3. The box as claimed in claim 1 , wherein an operation end of the movable member protrudes from the recess when the movable member is located in the recess, the operation end has an inclined surface and a gap is defined between the inclined surface of the operation end and the base.
4. The box as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the notch of the movable member is an annular notch which divides the movable member into an opening end and an operation end, the opening end is a cone-shaped end, the recess is located between the base and the cover, the stop portion has two protrusions respectively on the base and the cover, the protrusions are located corresponding to the annular notch, the stop portion has two inclined surfaces respectively located on the base and the cover, the two inclined surfaces are located corresponding to the cone-shaped opening end.
5. The box as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the movable member has a pivot which is connected to the opening end and the operation end, the opening end is eccentrically connected to the pivot.
6. The box as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the movable member is detachably located in the recess.
7. The box as claimed in claim 6 , wherein the box is a cosmetic box, the cover has a mirror connected thereto and the movable member has a brush portion.
