A spring 35 conned between'the base and a' collar 36 on the ring pin urges the firing pin rearwardly. s Y
The firing pin is normally restrainedvagainst the action of the springby a conventional arming bolt 3l (Fig. 11) which is-mounted in a passage 38 in the body and has a bifurcated inner end 39 straddling a round part 4D of the firing pin. The bolt is ejected from the fuse by a spring 4I when the usual arming wire 4l2 is Withdrawn during launching of the bombas is Well understood in the art. f
On the front or outer end ofthe timing unit 29 there is a guide pin '43 inserted in a recess 14 in the head. On the same end, a disc (Fig. 3) having a peripheralre'cess 46 is adaptedto be rotated when the timing unit is in operation. The disc carries a Hat-spring 4l having a nger a8 (Figs. 1, 3,V and 9) which extends `through an aperture 59 in the disc' and bearsfagainst a lug 50 through an aperture 58 in the head 6 and opposesv movement of the lever underthe action offithe spring 56. The front armof ,theleverisformed on the timing unit when the timing unitV is held by the arming bolt in its foremost position with the springipressed against the head 6. In this posi-v tion of the parts the disc is held against rotation and it is only free to rotate when the timing unit has been displaced and the spring, being thereby released, disengages its fingenfrom the lug 50.
