Abstract
The invention is a tie holder comprising an elongate connecting member (22) for connection to a shirt (14) of a person wearing the tie, a first holding member (20) that can be connected to a tie (10), and a second holding member (18) connected to the connecting member (22). In this case, the two holding members (18, 20) can be connected to one another through magnetic force.
Description
- This application hereby claims the benefit of pending German Patent Application No. DE 20 2011 050 559.6, which was filed in Germany on Jun. 27, 2011, and which is herein incorporated by reference in its entirety.
- The present invention is a device for holding a tie on the body of a person wearing the tie. Numerous options for holding a tie on the body of a user (i.e., a person wearing the tie) are known, which are generally based on a rigid connection between a shirt of the person wearing the tie and the tie. For example, clamps are widespread that clamp the tie and a portion of the shirt, thus holding the tie on the shirt. In this case, however, it is disadvantageous that the tie is held very close to the body and that the clamps produce wrinkles and, in the worst case, visible pressure marks.
- The object of the invention lies in providing a tie holder that holds the tie on the body in a visually attractive manner. It is supposed to be simple to produce and to operate. Moreover, wrinkles and visible kinks are to be avoided.
- The object is accomplished by a tie holder having the features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the tie holder become apparent from the dependent claims 2-15.
- The invention utilizes the holding force of a magnet and an elongate connecting member. The elongate connecting member, preferably a rope or chain, is configured so as to be connectable to the shirt of the user. The connecting member can be connected to the tie through magnetic force. For this purpose, a magnet or permanent magnet, which can be connected to a second magnet or a magnetic member, is attached to the tie and/or the elongate connecting member. For example, both the connecting member as well as the tie can comprise magnets that are connected to one another, but it is also conceivable that only the connecting member comprises a magnet that is connected with a magnetic member on the tie. Correspondingly, it is also possible that only the tie carries a magnet that is connected to a magnetic member of the connecting member.
- The use of neodymium magnets or so-called super magnets is particularly suitable.
- Preferably, the connecting member is length-adjustable, so that the distance between the shirt and the tie can be varied. It is also essential that the connecting member is flexible or mobile, so that the tie is capable of moving freely.
- The tie holder can be disposed on the back of the tie, i.e. the side facing towards the wearer, so that it is invisible from the front. For this purpose, a magnet or a magnetic member is attached as a holding member to the back of the tie, for example a correspondingly shaped clip, and connected to the connecting member, which is also located between the tie and the shirt.
- Preferably, the tie holder can also comprise an ornament (or ornamental article), for example a precious stone, which is worn on the front of the tie, i.e. on the side facing away from the wearer so as to be visible. This ornament is connected, preferably also through magnetic force, to the member on the back of the tie, i.e. either to the holding member located there or to a magnet disposed on the connecting member. Alternatively, however, the ornament itself can also be configured to be magnetic so that a holding member on the back of the tie can be dispensed with. The ornament itself causes the tie to be held to the holding member of the connecting member.
- The connecting member can be configured as a kind of lasso; it comprises a corresponding loop that can be pulled together by pulling on one end of the connecting member, whereby the length of the connecting member changes. For this purpose, the connecting member is guided through an intermediate member which comprises corresponding openings and, by means of friction force, ensures the size of the loop when wearing the tie. Alternatively, however, all other suitable length-adjustable mechanisms can also be used.
- An important advantage of the invention lies in the fact that, on the one hand, the tie is relatively free to move, but that, when the tie is pulled at or yanked, the connection between the connecting member and the holding member on the tie is broken without the shirt or the tie being damaged.
- If ornaments are used on the front of the tie, they can be easily replaced and adapted to tie colors and shapes. Neither wrinkles nor permanently visible pressure marks on the tie are produced.
- It is also conceivable that the connecting member itself acts as a holding member. For this purpose, it has to be configured to be magnetic at least in some portions, so that it can be connected to a magnetic holding member disposed on the tie. It is even conceivable that the connecting member itself is made from a permanent-magnetic material at least in some portions, and that thus, the holding member located on the tie only has to be metallic or magnetic.
- Other advantages and features of the invention become apparent from the other claims as well as from the following description of exemplary embodiments of the invention, which shall be understood not to be limiting and which will be explained below with reference to the drawings.
- The figures show a cross section of a
tie 10 which is located in front of ashirt 12.Buttons 14 can be seen on the shirt. -
FIG. 1 depicts a side cross section view of one embodiment of the tie holder according to the invention; -
FIG. 2 shows a side cross section view of another embodiment of the tie holder according to the invention; and -
FIG. 3 shows a perspective view of one embodiment of the tie holder according to the invention. - In the first exemplary embodiment according to
FIG. 1 , afirst holding member 18 is located on theback 16 of the tie, i.e. the side facing towards the wearer of thetie 10 when it is worn. It is configured as a permanent magnet, or at least as a magnetic member, which cooperates with a correspondingsecond holding member 20. Thesecond holding member 20 is disposed on a connectingmember 22, which in the exemplary embodiment shown is attached to abutton 14 of ashirt 12. Alternatively, however, it can also be attached directly to the shirt itself, for example through a clip that is not shown. - The embodiment according to
FIG. 2 differs therefrom in that, additionally, anornament 24 is provided which is disposed on afront 26, i.e. the side of the tie facing away from the wearer. It is also attached to thesecond holding member 20 through magnetic holding force and thus holds the tie at the distance to theshirt 12 predetermined by the connectingmember 22. Alternatively, however, thefirst holding member 18 can also be provided in this embodiment, which is then connected both to thesecond holding member 20 as well as to theornament 24. -
FIG. 3 shows the tie holder from above. Anintermediate member 26 is shown, through which two portions of the connectingmember 22 extend that thus form aloop 28 wrapped around abutton 14. The size of theloop 28 can be changed, whereby the length of the connectingmember 22 can be changed. Moreover, theintermediate member 26 can be displaced on the connectingmember 22. - The invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiments shown, but includes all other embodiments that make use of the idea of the invention.
