Abstract
Wearable exercise equipment includes a weighted vest that may use therapy tubing to provide the user with a variety of exercise options. The intensity of the workout with the exercise equipment may be changed by changing the amount and location of weights used as well as by changing the tension of the therapy tubing. The tubing may be placed on the weighted vest so that the arms, legs, back, stomach and neck can be exercised. The vest may also be used for training for runners. The exercise equipment may be used in the place of a therapy chair.
Description
- The present invention relates to exercise equipment and, more particularly, to wearable exercise equipment including a weighted vest that utilizes therapy tubing to provide a complete body workout.
- Conventional weighted vests and other weighted exercise equipment use only the heaviness of the vest/equipment to provide resistance. Therefore, significant weight may be needed to provide a user of conventional weighted exercise equipment with a complete workout.
- As can be seen, there is a need for wearable exercise equipment that may provide a complete workout relying solely on weight for resistance.
- In one aspect of the present invention, a wearable exercise equipment comprises a vest adapted to be worn about the torso of a user; a plurality of grommets formed in the vest; a plurality of pockets formed in the vest, the pockets adapted to hold one or more weights; and one or more resistance tubings attached to the grommets in the vest.
- In another aspect of the present invention, a wearable exercise equipment comprises a vest adapted to be worn about the torso of a user; a plurality of grommets formed in the vest; a plurality of pockets formed in the vest, the pockets adapted to hold one or more weights; one or more resistance tubings attached to the grommets in the vest; knee wraps adapted to wrap around the user's knee; at least one containment strap in a front portion of the knee wraps; ankle wraps adapted to wrap around the user's ankles; one or more ankle pockets in the ankle wrap, the ankle pockets adapted to contain one or more weights; and a ring attached to at least one of the ankle pockets.
- These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.
-
FIG. 1 is a front perspective view of wearable exercise equipment according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention; -
FIG. 2 is a front view of an exercise vest part of the wearable exercise equipment ofFIG. 1 ; -

FIG. 4 is a front view of a knee wrap part of the wearable exercise equipment ofFIG. 1 ; -
FIG. 5 is a front view of an ankle weight part of the wearable exercise equipment ofFIG. 1 ; -
FIG. 6 is a top view of a neck strap part of the wearable exercise equipment ofFIG. 1 ; -
FIG. 7 is a side view of the wearable exercise equipment ofFIG. 1 in use; -
FIG. 8 is a back view of the wearable exercise equipment ofFIG. 1 in use; and -
FIG. 9 is a side view of an alternate use of the wearable exercise equipment ofFIG. 1 . - The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
- Various inventive features are described below that can each be used independently of one another or in combination with other features.
- Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides wearable exercise equipment including a weighted vest that may use therapy tubing to provide the user with a variety of exercise options.
- Referring to
FIGS. 1 through 9 , awearable exercise equipment 10 may include avest 12 adapted to be worn by a user. Thevest 12 may include afront side 13A and aback side 13B. The front andback sides weight pockets 18 for holding one or more weights. Thevest 12 may include a plurality ofgrommets 28 used to attach one ormore resistance tubes 22. One ormore belts 20 may be provided in thevest 12 to help secure thevest 12 to the user. In some embodiments, twobelts 20 are provided about the torso of thevest 12. Theresistance tubes 22 may attach to thegrommets 28 by any conventional means, for example, with the use ofcarabiners 24, D-rings, snap hooks, and the like.Handles 26 may be provided on ends of certain ones of theresistance tubes 22. For example, as shown inFIGS. 7 and 8 ,resistance tubes 22 may be attached to grommets 28 in the sides of thevest 12.Handles 26 may be provided on the ends of theresistance tubes 22 for providing the user the ability to do arm exercises. - Referring specifically to
FIGS. 4 and 5 , aknee wrap 14 may be adapted to wrap around a user's knee withstraps 34. Thestraps 34 may be adjustable with a strap length adjuster 36. Thestraps 34 may be, for example, hook and loop fastener straps. Apliable body 30 at the front of of theknee wrap 14 may includecontainment straps 32 affixed thereto. Thecontainment straps 32 may be used to holdresistance tubing 22 that spans from a lower front edge of thevest 12, through thecontainment straps 32, to anankle wrap 16. - The
ankle wrap 16 may include a plurality ofweight pockets 43 adapted to hold one or more weights. Theweight pockets 43 may attach to astrap 38 via a D-ring. Astrap adjuster 40 may be used to adjust the length of the strap as it is secured to a user's ankle. Theresistance tubing 22 extending from the lower front edge of thevest 12, through thecontainment straps 32 in theknee wrap 14, may attach to one of the D-rings 44 of theweight pockets 42. Similarly, arear resistance strap 22 may span from a lower back edge of the vest to a D-ring 44 of one of theweight pockets 42 on theankle wrap 16. In an alternate embodiment, as shown inFIG. 9 , the user may secure aresistance tube 22 to anankle wrap 16 secured to each ankle of the user. The user may then separate their legs to provide resistance therebetween. - A
foam helmet 50 may be optionally provided as part of thewearable exercise equipment 10. Thefoam helmet 50 may include a chin strap 54 for securing thehelmet 50 on the head of the user. A plurality ofrings 52 may be secured to thehelmet 50.Resistance tubing 22 may be attached to one of therings 42 and the user may pull on theresistance tubing 22 with their arms, for example, to exercise not only their arms, but their neck muscles as well. - A
head strap 46 may be provided for use either with thehelmet 50 or to wear directly on the user's head. Thehead strap 46 may include astrap 48 made of, for example, nylon, and a piece ofresistance tubing 22 connecting to ends of thestrap 48. The length of theresistance tubing 22 may be adjustable withadjusters 40. Acarabiner 24 may be provided in a central location of theresistance tubing 22. Thecarabiner 24 may be attached to a back-side neck grommet 28 of thevest 12. Thehead strap 46 may be useful, for example, to secure the user's head in a desired position during exercise, such as running. - It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
