Abstract
There is provided a garment display module and a kit for displaying a plurality of garments mounted on hangers, comprising a base frame having a plurality of frame edges and a plurality of garment display assemblies. Each garment display assembly is configured for displaying garments in a display direction parallel to a corresponding frame edge, and comprises a top bracket member and a bottom bracket member, both extending upwardly from the corresponding frame edge. The top bracket member is adapted for suspending a top set of garments from a first height. The bottom bracket member is spaced from the top bracket member in the display direction and is adapted for suspending a bottom set of garments from a second height. The second height is lower than the first height to thereby at least partially expose the top set of garments over the bottom set of garments in the display direction.
Description
- This application claims priority of U.S. Provisional Patent Application having Ser. No. 61/421,407, which was filed on Dec. 9, 2010 and is entitled “MULTI-DIRECTION GARMENT DISPLAY MODULE”, the specification of which is hereby incorporated by reference.
- The invention relates to display modules for garments. More precisely, this invention pertains to a multi-direction garment display module.
- Display modules are key in the garment business industry. They enable shop managers to promote their goods by efficiently displaying them.
- On the other side, shoppers are enabled to readily check a given piece of garment prior buying it which is desirable.
- Unfortunately, garment manufacturers may produce a large variety of garments and lots of space is required to show them.
- In fact, in some department stores, a shop manager may restrict or even charge a garment manufacturer depending on a space used for displaying his garments.
- It may also be required to display garments in various directions due to the configuration of the store.
- Features of the invention will be apparent from review of the disclosure, drawings and description of the invention below.
- According to one aspect, there is provided a garment display module for displaying a plurality of garments mounted on hangers, the garment display module comprising: a base frame adapted for resting on a ground surface, the base frame having a plurality of frame edges; a plurality of garment display assemblies mounted on the plurality of frame edges, each garment display assembly being configured for displaying garments in a display direction parallel to a corresponding frame edge, each garment display assembly comprising: a top bracket member extending upwardly from the corresponding frame edge for suspending a top set of garments from a first height and displaying the top set of garments in the display direction; and a bottom bracket member extending upwardly from the corresponding frame edge and spaced from the top bracket member in the display direction for suspending a bottom set of garments from a second height and displaying the bottom set of garments in the display direction, the second height being lower than the first height to thereby at least partially expose the top set of garments over the bottom set of garments in the display direction.
- In one embodiment, each frame edge comprises a first end portion, a second end portion and an intermediate portion extending therebetween.
- In one embodiment, the top bracket member comprises a top horizontal portion for suspending the top set of garments therefrom and a bottom portion extending upwardly between the intermediate portion of the corresponding frame edge and the top horizontal portion for locating the top horizontal portion at the first height.
- In one embodiment, the top bracket member is T-shaped.
- In one embodiment, the top horizontal portion of the top bracket member comprises a first end portion extending in the display direction for receiving the top set of garments and an opposite second end portion extending opposite the display direction for receiving an opposite set of garments.
- In one embodiment, the top horizontal portion of the top bracket member further comprises stop members located at the first and second end portions for preventing garments from slipping off from the top horizontal portion.
- In one embodiment, the bottom portion of the top bracket member is extendible.
- In one embodiment, the bottom bracket member comprises a top horizontal portion for suspending the top set of garments therefrom and a bottom portion extending upwardly between the first end portion of the corresponding frame edge and the top horizontal portion for locating the top horizontal portion at the second height.
- In one embodiment, the bottom bracket member is L-shaped.
- In one embodiment, the top horizontal portion of the bottom bracket member comprises a projecting end portion projecting away from the bottom portion of the bottom bracket member and towards the display direction.
- In one embodiment, the top horizontal portion of the bottom bracket member further comprises a bottom stop member located at the projecting end portion for preventing garments from slipping off from the bottom horizontal portion.
- In one embodiment, the plurality of garment display assemblies comprises a first garment display assembly configured for displaying first and second sets of garments in a first display direction.
- In one embodiment, the plurality of garment display assemblies further comprises a second garment display assembly configured for displaying third and fourth sets of garments in a second display direction opposite the first display direction.
- In one embodiment, the plurality of garment display assemblies further comprises a third garment display assembly configured for displaying fifth and sixth sets of garments in a third display direction perpendicular to the first display direction.
- In one embodiment, the plurality of garment display assemblies further comprises a fourth garment display assembly configured for displaying seventh and eighth sets of garments in a fourth display direction opposite the third display direction.
- In one embodiment, the base frame is a quadrilateral and comprises a first frame edge, a second frame edge, a third frame edge and a fourth frame edge.
- In one embodiment, the base frame comprises a rectangle.
- In one embodiment, the base frame comprises a square.
- According to another aspect, there is also provided a garment display kit for displaying a plurality of garments, each garment being suspendable using a hanger, the garment display kit comprising: a base frame adapted for resting on a ground surface, the base frame having a plurality of frame edges; a plurality of garment display assemblies mountable on the plurality of frame edges, each garment display assembly being configured for displaying garments in a display direction parallel to a corresponding frame edge, each garment display assembly comprising: a top bracket member mountable to the frame such that the top bracket member extends upwardly from the corresponding frame edge for suspending a top set of garments from a first height and displaying the top set of garments in the display direction; and a bottom bracket member mountable to the frame such that the bottom bracket member extends upwardly from the corresponding frame edge and is spaced from the top bracket member in the display direction for suspending a bottom set of garments from a second height and displaying the bottom set of garments in the display direction, the second height being lower than the first height to thereby at least partially expose the top set of garments over the bottom set of garments in the display direction.
- According to yet another aspect, there is also provided a garment display module for displaying a plurality of garments, the garment display module comprising: a frame having four edges defining a quadrilateral selected from a group comprising a rectangle and a square; a first top bracket member having a top horizontal portion for suspending garments therefrom and a bottom portion for securing the first top bracket member to the first edge of the four edges; a first bottom bracket member having a top horizontal portion for receiving garments and a bottom portion for securing the first bottom bracket member to the first edge of the four edges; a second top bracket member having a top horizontal portion for receiving garments and a bottom portion for securing the second top bracket member to a second edge of the four edges; a second bottom bracket member having a top horizontal portion for receiving garments and a bottom portion for securing the second bottom bracket member to the second edge of the four edges; a third top bracket member having a top horizontal portion for receiving garments and a bottom portion for securing the third top bracket member to a third edge of the four edges; a third bottom bracket member having a top horizontal portion for receiving garments and a bottom portion for securing the third bottom bracket member to the third edge of the four edges; a fourth top bracket member having a top horizontal portion for receiving garments and a bottom portion for securing the fourth top bracket member to a fourth edge of the four edges; and a fourth bottom bracket member having a top horizontal portion for receiving garments and a bottom portion for securing the fourth bottom bracket member to the fourth edge of the four edges.
- An advantage of the garment display module is that it enables the display of garments in a plurality of directions.
- The garment display module may further advantageously enable increasing a number of garments displayed per unit of floor space while maintaining efficient frontal visibility.
- In order that the invention may be readily understood, embodiments of the invention are illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings.

- In the following description of the embodiments, references to the accompanying drawings are by way of illustration of an example by which the invention may be practiced. It will be understood that other embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the invention disclosed.
- Now referring to
FIG. 1 , there is shown an embodiment of a multi-directiongarment display module 100 according to one embodiment. - The
garment display module 100 is used for displaying a plurality of garments, not shown inFIG. 1 , each of the garments being suspended using a hanger. - More precisely, the
garment display module 100 comprises a base frame orframe 101 which is adapted for resting on a ground surface. In the illustrated embodiment, theframe 101 is placed directly on the ground surface. Alternatively, theframe 101 may instead be mounted on legs. - In one embodiment, the
frame 101 is made of metal such as steel. Alternatively, theframe 101 may be made of any other material deemed suitable by the skilled addressee. - The
frame 101 comprises a plurality of frame edges or edges. In the illustrated embodiment, theframe 101 comprises four edges defining a quadrilateral. More specifically, theframe 101 comprises afirst edge 102, asecond edge 104, athird edge 106 and afourth edge 108. In one embodiment, the first, second, third andfourth edges fourth edges - The
garment display module 100 further comprises a plurality of garment display assemblies, each of which is mounted on a corresponding frame member of theframe 101. In the illustrated embodiment for instance, the plurality of garment display assemblies comprises first, second, third and fourthgarment display assemblies fourth edges frame 101. - Furthermore, the first, second, third and fourth
garment display assemblies garment display assembly 150 is configured to display first and second sets ofgarments first edge 102 and enables an observer, such as a customer or the like, who is standing near thesecond edge 104 of theframe 101, to view the first and second sets ofgarments - In the embodiment illustrated in
FIG. 4 , the garments comprise shirts and/or ensembles comprising a top such as a shirt and matching pants, which are suspended using hangers. Alternatively, the garments may comprise pants or any other types of garments. A person skilled in the art will appreciate that a garment suspended from a hanger adopts a relatively flat configuration and defines a front face corresponding generally to a front portion of the garment and a back face corresponding generally to a back portion of the garment. When looking towards thegarment display module 100 from a viewing position near thesecond edge 104 of theframe 101, the observer views the front face of the garments, which advantageously enables him to appreciate the garments and may further advantageously entice the observer to buy the garment. - Alternatively, the back face of the garment may be displayed to the observer in the first display direction D1, instead of the front face. This may be advantageous in an embodiment in which the garments comprise sports jerseys, for instance, and in which it is desirable that a number and/or a name printed on the back face be visible to the observer.
- Still in the embodiment illustrated in
FIG. 4 , the secondgarment display assembly 152 is configured to display third and fourth sets ofgarments second frame member 104 and enables the observer standing near thethird edge 106 of theframe 101 to view the front face of the third and fourth sets ofgarments - Still in the embodiment illustrated in
FIG. 4 , the thirdgarment display assembly 154 is configured to display a fifth set of garments, not shown, and a sixth set ofgarments 408 in a third display direction D3. Specifically, the third display direction D3 is generally parallel to thethird edge 106 and enables the observer standing near thefourth edge 108 of theframe 101 to view the front face of the fifth and sixth sets ofgarments 408. It will be appreciated that the third display direction D3 is also generally opposed to the first display direction D1, and perpendicular to the second viewing direction D2. - Still in the embodiment illustrated in
FIG. 4 , the fourthgarment display assembly 156 is configured to display seventh and eighth sets ofgarments fourth edge 108 and enables the observer standing near thefirst edge 102 of theframe 101 to view the front face of the seventh and eighth sets ofgarments - This configuration advantageously enables garments to be observed from a plurality of directions and from a plurality of viewing positions around the garment display module, while occupying a relatively minimal amount of floor space. All the garments may therefore advantageously be viewed by an observer moving around in a full circle around the
garment display module 100, or simultaneously by a plurality of observers standing at different viewing positions around thegarment display module 100. - Referring now to
FIGS. 1 , 2, 3 and 4, thefirst display assembly 150 will now be described. It will be appreciated that the second, third andfourth display assemblies first display assembly 150 and do not need to be described for the skilled addressee to be able to fully understand the structure and workings of thegarment display module 100. - The
first display assembly 150 comprises a firsttop bracket member 110 and a firstbottom bracket member 112, which are used for receiving respectively top and bottom sets of garments, which in this embodiment comprise the first and second sets ofgarments top bracket member 110 and the firstbottom bracket member 112 are both secured to thefirst edge 102 of theframe 101 and extend upwardly therefrom. - The first
top bracket member 110 comprises a tophorizontal portion 302 for receiving garments using hangers and abottom portion 300 for securing the firsttop bracket member 110 to thefirst edge 102. - More specifically, the
first edge 102 comprises afirst end portion 350, asecond end portion 352 and anintermediate portion 354 extending between the first andsecond portions bottom portion 300 of the firsttop bracket member 110 extends between theintermediate portion 354 of thefirst edge 102 and the tophorizontal portion 302 such that the tophorizontal portion 302 is located at a first height H1. It will be appreciated that the first height H1 may be selected to enable an averagely sized person to readily access the tophorizontal portion 302 in order to easily remove garments therefrom. - In the embodiment illustrated in
FIG. 3 , the firsttop bracket member 110 has a generally T-shaped configuration. More specifically, the tophorizontal portion 302 comprises afirst end portion 356 which extends in the first display direction D1 for receiving the first set ofgarments 400. In the illustrated embodiment, the tophorizontal portion 302 further comprises asecond end portion 358 which extends in a direction opposite the first display direction D1 for receiving another set of garments, or first opposite set ofgarments 414, as shown inFIG. 4 . It will be appreciated that this first opposite set ofgarments 414 is displayed in a direction opposite the first display direction D1, i.e. direction D3. - Still in the illustrated embodiment, the first
bottom bracket member 112 comprises a tophorizontal portion 310 for receiving garments using hangers and abottom portion 308 for securing the firstbottom bracket member 112 to thefirst edge 102 such that the firstbottom bracket member 112 is spaced from the firsttop bracket member 110 in the first display direction D1. - More specifically, the
bottom portion 308 of the firstbottom bracket member 112 extends between thefirst end portion 350 of thefirst edge 102 and the tophorizontal portion 310 such that the tophorizontal portion 310 of the firstbottom bracket member 112 is located at a second height H2. - In the illustrated embodiment, the first
bottom bracket member 112 is generally L-shaped and the tophorizontal portion 310 comprises a projectingend portion 360 projecting away from thebottom portion 308 of the firstbottom bracket member 112 and towards the first display direction D1 for receiving the second set ofgarments 402. - Both the first and second sets of
garments bottom bracket members garments bottom bracket member 112 is lower than the first height H1 of the firsttop bracket member 110, as shown inFIG. 3 . In this configuration, the first set ofgarments 400 is not completely hidden by the second set ofgarments 402, but is instead at least partially exposed over the second set ofgarments 402 to the observer standing near thesecond edge 104 of theframe 101, as explained above. - It will be appreciated that the second height H2 may further be selected so as to be sufficient to prevent the second set of
garments 402 suspended from the firstbottom bracket member 112 from contacting the ground. - In one embodiment, the first
top bracket member 110 is extendible to enable the first height H1 to be selected amongst a plurality of heights. The firstbottom bracket member 110 may also be extendible to enable the second height H2 to be selected amongst a plurality of heights. In this embodiment, it may therefore be possible to select the first and second heights H1 and H2 according, for instance, to the size of the garments to be displayed. - In one embodiment, the
bottom portion 300 of the firsttop bracket member 110 comprises a male segment, for instance a square tube of ½ inch, longitudinally and slidably engaging a female segment, for instance a square tube of ¾ inch. A pin may be used to removably lock together the male and female segments such that the tophorizontal portion 302 of the firsttop bracket member 110 is located at a desired height. Thebottom portion 300 of the firstbottom bracket member 112 may be provided with a similar mechanism. - In the illustrated embodiment, the top
horizontal portion 302 of the firsttop bracket member 110 further comprisesstoppers second end portions horizontal portion 302, as a person skilled in the art will appreciate. - Similarly, the top
horizontal portion 310 of the firstbottom bracket member 112 further comprisesstoppers end portion 360 for preventing garments from slipping off from the tophorizontal portion 310. - The skilled addressee will further appreciate that various alternative means may be used to prevent garments from slipping off the top
horizontal portion 302 of the firsttop bracket member 110 and the tophorizontal portion 310 of the firstbottom bracket member 112. - Similarly to the first
garment display assembly 150, the secondgarment display assembly 152 comprises a secondtop bracket member 114 and a secondbottom bracket member 116 for receiving the third and fourth sets ofgarments top bracket member 114 is configured to further receive a second opposite set ofgarments 416. - Similarly, the third
garment display assembly 154 further comprises a thirdtop bracket member 118 and a thirdbottom bracket member 120 for receiving the fifth set ofgarments 408 and the sixth set of garments, not shown, respectively. In the illustrated embodiment, the thirdtop bracket member 118 is configured to further receive a third opposite set ofgarments 418. - Similarly, the fourth
garment display assembly 156 comprises a fourthtop bracket member 122 and a fourthbottom bracket member 124 for receiving the seventh and eighth sets ofgarments top bracket member 122 is configured to further receive a fourth opposite set ofgarments 420. - In one embodiment, the first, second, third and fourth
garment display assemblies garment display assemblies - Now referring to
FIG. 4 , thegarment display module 100 may further comprise adisplay 126 for displaying various informations, which may or may not be related to the garments. Thisdisplay 126 is not shown inFIG. 1 . - It will be appreciated by the skilled addressee that the
display 126 may be of various types. For instance, thedisplay 126 may comprise information printed on cardboard. In an alternative embodiment, theoptional display 126 comprises a screen selected from a group consisting of LCD displays and plasma displays. - The
display 126 is mounted on abrace frame 128. Still in this embodiment, thebrace frame 128 is secured to the firsttop bracket member 110, the secondtop bracket member 114, the thirdtop bracket member 118 and the fourthtop bracket member 122. - The skilled addressee will appreciate that the
brace frame 128 may be configured according to one of various alternative configurations. - As illustrated in
FIG. 4 , the first and second sets ofgarments garments 418 are displayed in the first display direction D1. - The third and fourth sets of
garments garments 420 are displayed in the second display direction D2. - The fifth set of
garments 408, the sixth set of garments, not shown, and the first opposite set ofgarments 414 are displayed in the third display direction D3. - The seventh and eighth sets of
garments garments 416 are displayed in the fourth display direction D4. - The skilled addressee will therefore appreciate that the embodiment disclosed herein is of great advantage since it enables the display of twelve different sets of garments in many directions, which is of great advantage. It will also be appreciated that in this embodiment, all the sets of garments are at least partially exposed and are not fully hidden by other sets of garments, which is also of great advantage.
- It will further be appreciate that the
garment display module 100 described herein occupies relatively little floor space. The garment display module may therefore advantageously enable increasing a number of garments displayed per unit of floor space while maintaining efficient frontal visibility of the garments. - In an alternative embodiment, not shown, intermediate bracket members may be further secured on one or more of the first, second, third and fourth edges, between their respective top and bottom bracket members, for receiving further garments. The height of those intermediate bracket members may be comprised between the first height H1 of the top bracket member and the second height H2 of the bottom bracket member.
- Also it will be appreciated that the connection of a given bottom bracket member and a given top bracket member to a corresponding given edge may be one of a temporary one and a permanent one depending on needs. The skilled addressee will appreciate that in the case where the connection is a temporary one, the given top bracket member and the given bottom bracket member are releasably connected to the given edge. In this embodiment, the garment display module may therefore be provided as a garment display kit. This may be of great advantage for transportation of the garment display module.
- Although the above description relates to a specific preferred embodiment as presently contemplated by the inventor, it will be understood that the invention in its broad aspect includes mechanical and functional equivalents of the elements described herein.
Claims (20)
1. A garment display module for displaying a plurality of garments mounted on hangers, the garment display module comprising:
a base frame adapted for resting on a ground surface, the base frame having a plurality of frame edges;
a plurality of garment display assemblies mounted on the plurality of frame edges, each garment display assembly being configured for displaying garments in a display direction parallel to a corresponding frame edge, each garment display assembly comprising:
a top bracket member extending upwardly from the corresponding frame edge for suspending a top set of garments from a first height and displaying the top set of garments in the display direction; and
a bottom bracket member extending upwardly from the corresponding frame edge and spaced from the top bracket member in the display direction for suspending a bottom set of garments from a second height and displaying the bottom set of garments in the display direction, the second height being lower than the first height to thereby at least partially expose the top set of garments over the bottom set of garments in the display direction.
2. The garment display module as claimed in claim 1 , wherein each frame edge comprises a first end portion, a second end portion and an intermediate portion extending therebetween.
3. The garment display module as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the top bracket member comprises a top horizontal portion for suspending the top set of garments therefrom and a bottom portion extending upwardly between the intermediate portion of the corresponding frame edge and the top horizontal portion for locating the top horizontal portion at the first height.
4. The garment display module as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the top bracket member is T-shaped.
5. The garment display module as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the top horizontal portion of the top bracket member comprises a first end portion extending in the display direction for receiving the top set of garments and an opposite second end portion extending opposite the display direction for receiving an opposite set of garments.
6. The garment display module as claimed in claim 5 , wherein the top horizontal portion of the top bracket member further comprises stop members located at the first and second end portions for preventing garments from slipping off from the top horizontal portion.
7. The garment display module as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the bottom portion of the top bracket member is extendible.
8. The garment display module as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the bottom bracket member comprises a top horizontal portion for suspending the top set of garments therefrom and a bottom portion extending upwardly between the first end portion of the corresponding frame edge and the top horizontal portion for locating the top horizontal portion at the second height.
9. The garment display module as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the bottom bracket member is L-shaped.
10. The garment display module as claimed in claim 9 , wherein the top horizontal portion of the bottom bracket member comprises a projecting end portion projecting away from the bottom portion of the bottom bracket member and towards the display direction.
11. The garment display module as claimed in claim 10 , wherein the top horizontal portion of the bottom bracket member further comprises a bottom stop member located at the projecting end portion for preventing garments from slipping off from the bottom horizontal portion.
12. The garment display module as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the plurality of garment display assemblies comprises a first garment display assembly configured for displaying first and second sets of garments in a first display direction.
13. The garment display module as claimed in claim 12 , wherein the plurality of garment display assemblies further comprises a second garment display assembly configured for displaying third and fourth sets of garments in a second display direction opposite the first display direction.
14. The garment display module as claimed in claim 13 , wherein the plurality of garment display assemblies further comprises a third garment display assembly configured for displaying fifth and sixth sets of garments in a third display direction perpendicular to the first display direction.
15. The garment display module as claimed in claim 14 , wherein the plurality of garment display assemblies further comprises a fourth garment display assembly configured for displaying seventh and eighth sets of garments in a fourth display direction opposite the third display direction.
16. The garment display module as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the base frame is a quadrilateral and comprises a first frame edge, a second frame edge, a third frame edge and a fourth frame edge.
17. The garment display module as claimed in claim 16 , wherein the base frame comprises a rectangle.
18. The garment display module as claimed in claim 17 , wherein the base frame comprises a square.
19. A garment display kit for displaying a plurality of garments, each garment being suspendable using a hanger, the garment display kit comprising:
a base frame adapted for resting on a ground surface, the base frame having a plurality of frame edges;
a plurality of garment display assemblies mountable on the plurality of frame edges, each garment display assembly being configured for displaying garments in a display direction parallel to a corresponding frame edge, each garment display assembly comprising:
a top bracket member mountable to the frame such that the top bracket member extends upwardly from the corresponding frame edge for suspending a top set of garments from a first height and displaying the top set of garments in the display direction; and
a bottom bracket member mountable to the frame such that the bottom bracket member extends upwardly from the corresponding frame edge and is spaced from the top bracket member in the display direction for suspending a bottom set of garments from a second height and displaying the bottom set of garments in the display direction, the second height being lower than the first height to thereby at least partially expose the top set of garments over the bottom set of garments in the display direction.
20. A garment display module for displaying a plurality of garments, the garment display module comprising:
a frame having four edges defining a quadrilateral selected from a group comprising a rectangle and a square;
a first top bracket member having a top horizontal portion for suspending garments therefrom and a bottom portion for securing the first top bracket member to the first edge of the four edges;
a first bottom bracket member having a top horizontal portion for receiving garments and a bottom portion for securing the first bottom bracket member to the first edge of the four edges;
a second top bracket member having a top horizontal portion for receiving garments and a bottom portion for securing the second top bracket member to a second edge of the four edges;
a second bottom bracket member having a top horizontal portion for receiving garments and a bottom portion for securing the second bottom bracket member to the second edge of the four edges;
a third top bracket member having a top horizontal portion for receiving garments and a bottom portion for securing the third top bracket member to a third edge of the four edges;
a third bottom bracket member having a top horizontal portion for receiving garments and a bottom portion for securing the third bottom bracket member to the third edge of the four edges;
a fourth top bracket member having a top horizontal portion for receiving garments and a bottom portion for securing the fourth top bracket member to a fourth edge of the four edges; and
a fourth bottom bracket member having a top horizontal portion for receiving garments and a bottom portion for securing the fourth bottom bracket member to the fourth edge of the four edges.
