Abstract

The present invention is an apparatus for attaching a portable music playing device that has a clip mechanism such as an iPod Nano (generation 6). The present invention allows the user to conveniently position the portable music playing device on the user's wrist so that the headphone wires can easily traverse through the sleeves of the user's clothing. A wrist strap braces the present invention against the user's wrist. The wrist strap has two holes, which allows the clip mechanism to weave in and out of the wrist strap so that the portable music playing device is properly secured on the present invention. The wrist strap is bent around the user's wrist, until the left end of the wrist strap overlaps the right end of the wrist strap. A plurality of clasps is then able to engage and attaches the left end to the right end.

  • DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION
  • All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.
  • As can be seen in FIGS. 1 and 2, the present invention is an apparatus for attaching a portable music playing device, which allows the user to hold the portable music playing device on their wrist. The present invention is designed to hold a particular kind of portable music playing device that has a clip mechanism such as the iPod Nano (generation 6). The apparatus for attaching the portable music playing device comprises a wrist strap 1, a clip insert hole 6, a clip stabilization hole 7, a plurality of securing holes 8, and a plurality of clasps 9. The wrist strap 1 is a band that is used to support the present invention against the user's wrist. The clip insert hole 6 and the clip stabilization hole 7 allows the clip mechanism of the portable music playing device to engage the present invention. The plurality of securing holes 8 and the plurality of clasps 9 are used to attach the ends of the wrist strap 1 together.
  • The wrist strap 1 allows the user to brace the portable music playing device against their wrist. The wrist strap 1 is made of a durable yet flexible material because the wrist strap 1 must contort to wrap around the user's wrist without fracturing. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the wrist strap 1 is made of either leather or nylon and is made of one piece of material. The wrist strap 1 comprises of an outer surface 2, an inner surface 3, a left end 4, and a right end 5, which are shown in FIG. 5. The portable music playing device rests on the outer surface 2 of the wrist strap 1. The outer surface 2 can also be used to display logos such as those of the company that manufactured the present invention. The inner surface 3 is positioned below the outer surface 2 and makes contact with the user's wrist. The left end 4 and the right end 5 are positioned adjacent to each other along the length of the wrist strap 1. The wrist strap 1 is bent around the user's wrist, until the left end 4 overlaps the right end 5 and the components of each of the plurality of clasps 9 are able to engage each other. Once the left end 4 is attached to the right end 5 with the plurality of clasps 9, the present invention is then able to properly brace the user's wrist with the wrist strap 1.
  • The clip insert hole 6 and the clip stabilization hole 7 are used to attach the portable music playing device to the wrist strap 1 with the clip mechanism. The clip mechanism allows the portable music playing device to fasten to the user's clothing or, in this case, the present invention. The clip mechanism weaves into the wrist strap 1 through the clip insert hole 6 and weaves out of the wrist strap 1 through the clip stabilization hole 7 in order to properly attach and position the portable music playing device on the present invention. The clip insert hole 6 is larger than the clip stabilization hole 7, which allows the user to easily weave the clip mechanism into the wrist strap 1. Once the clip mechanism is inserted into the clip insert hole 6, the portable music playing device is positioned in such as way that the clip stabilization hole 7 does not need to be very large for the clip mechanism to weave out of the wrist strap 1.
  • The plurality of securing holes 8 and the plurality of clasps 9 allow the left end 4 of the wrist strap 1 and the right end 5 of the wrist strap 1 to bind together. The plurality of securing holes 8 is shown in FIG. 4, and the plurality of clasps 9 is shown in FIG. 2. The plurality of securing holes 8 traversed through the wrist strap 1 on both the left end 4 and the right end 5. The plurality of clasps 9 is positioned within and attached to the plurality of securing holes 8. The plurality of clasps 9 is positioned adjacent to each other along the width of the wrist strap 1. Each of the plurality of clasps 9 comprises a female component 10, a first male component 11, and a second male component 12. The female component 10 is located on the left end 4 of the wrist strap 1 and is positioned to be normal to the inner surface 3, which is shown in FIG. 6. The first male component 11 and the second male component 12 are located on the right end 5 of the wrist strap 1 and are also positioned to be normal to the outer surface 2, which is shown in FIG. 3. The second male component 12 is positioned adjacent to the first male component 11 and positioned in between the first male component 11 and the clip insert hole 6. When the left end 4 is attached to the right end 5, either the first male component 11 or the second male component 12 is inserted into the female component 10. The plurality of clasps 9 allows the user to adjust the circumference of the present invention around their wrist with the first male component 11 and the second male component 12. If the user wants the circumference of the present invention to be larger, then the first male component 11 is inserted into the female component 10. If the user wants the circumference of the present invention to be smaller, then the second male component 12 is inserted into the female component 10. In the preferred embodiment, the present invention is designed to cater to the iPod
  • Nano and improves the usefulness of the iPod Nano as a wrist mounted media player and as a watch. The configuration of the present invention positions the headphone jack of the iPod Nano parallel to the user's forearm, which allows the headphone wire to travel along the user's arm underneath the user's shirt or jacket sleeves and provides the headphone wire with protection against stress and snagging. The configuration of present invention also resolves a stress point in the material of the wrist strap 1 because the clip mechanism does not support the iPod Nano on the present invention by simply clamping down on the wrist strap 1. Furthermore, the configuration of the present invention is aesthetically clean and is free of any gaudy fasteners. Additionally, the preferred embodiment of the present invention is designed with specific dimensions so that the present invention can better accommodate the iPod Nano. For example, the clip stabilization hole 7 is ⅛″ by 15/16″, the clip insert hole 6 is 9/32″ by 5/4″, the distance between the clip stabilization hole 7 and the clip insertion hole is ⅞″, and the material thickness of the wrist strap 1 is 1/16″.
  • In an alternative embodiment, the sweat cloth version of the present invention does not include the plurality of securing holes 8 and the plurality of clasps 9. Consequently, the wrist strap 1 in this embodiment does not include a left end 4 and a right end 5 because the wrist strap 1 has a tubular shape. The wrist strap 1 in the sweat cloth version does comprise an annular piece of sweat cloth and a plurality of elastic strands. The plurality of elastic strands is threaded within the annular piece of sweat cloth, which allows the user to elongate the wrist strap 1 while sliding the present invention across the user's hand and allows the wrist strap 1 to contract in order to properly brace the user's wrist. The clip insert hole 6 and the clip stabilization hole 7 are positioned on the wrist strap 1 in a manner similar to the preferred embodiment of the present invention. The alternative embodiment of the present invention also comprises a zippered pocket, which is positioned on wrist strap 1 and is diametrically opposed to the clip insert hole 6 and the clip stabilization hole 7.
  • Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
