Abstract

The modifications to the ball allow the ball to be tethered to a control rope with snap fittings. The rod or tube rod permit the ball to rotate when hit and prevent the twisting of the control rope which keeps the ball under control.

Description

  • This invention consists either of a rod or a rod and tube centrally passing through the center of the ball (pg.2 FIG. 1 and pg.3 FIG. 3). When the rod uses a swivel connector to a rope (pg.2 FIG. 2) or the rod and tube with a connector to a rope (pg.3 FIG. 4) the ball will rotate when hit and the rope controls the swinging of the ball.

    PROCESS FOR MAKING
  • The baseball swinger can be made by anyone with average skills for his own use. One end of a straight length of a coat hanger can be bent into a loop for the attachment of a control rope with a small pliers. A hole is centrally made through a ball into which a rod or rod in tube is placed. A loop is bent on one end of the wire for the attachment of a rope and a stop is bent on the other end to secure the wire to the ball.
  • A polypropylene rope and snap can be purchased at hardware store and a tube if needed, at a hobby craft store. After the rope is passed through a loop in the snap, the end of the rope can then be inserted into the center of the rope for several inches and secured by a nylon tie close to the loop, which eliminates the need for a knot. The ball swinger can now be swung past the batter and when the ball is hit off center, it can rotate on its axis without causing the rope to wind upon itself.
  • BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
  • During baseball batting practice the average player is confronted with balls that are often overthrown and seldom placed in the strike zone of the batters box. This is then the delay of retrieving the ball or the balls and throwing back to the pitcher. Now everyone has to position himself or herself for the next pitch. This all makes for a slow learning process and a loss of time retrieving the ball.
  • The baseball swinger eliminates all these problems. Now a skillful pitcher is not needed because the baseball swinger provide for the safe control of the ball which then can be presented to the batter at different speeds and positions as it is swing. Using a snap connector on the control rope is an easy way to attach different sized balls with various densities.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY
  • The Baseball swinger is a means of connecting the ball to a control rope, which allows another player to swing the ball past a batter in an efficient and controlled manner in a limited space and without the need of other players during batting practice.

Claims (5)
