Abstract
An automatic pop-up cigar cutter is provided with a cutting blade assembly including a blade in a cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove, and at least one cutting blade spring in at least one assembling groove. The cutting blade spring has both ends thereof pressed against the base and the cutting blade assembly, so that the cutting blade assembly can be pressed out of the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove. The base is further provided with a control knob assembling including a fixing knob and a moving knob that are mated through a fixing cylinder and a moving cylinder, and the cutting blade assembly is correspondingly formed with a fixing hole and a moving hole. The fixing cylinder is smaller than the fixing hole and greater than the moving hole, and the moving cylinder is smaller than the moving hole. By such arrangements, the user can cut off the cigar with a single hand.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a cigar cutter, and more particularly to an automatic pop-up cigar cutter.
- 2. Description of the Prior Art
- A cigar must be properly cut at both ends thereof by a cutter before being smoked. All the existing cigar cutters are manually operated in such a manner that the user must hold the cutter base with one hand and pull open the blade on the cutter base with the other hand to expose the cutting hole, and then the ends of the cigar will be inserted into the cutting hole and cut off by pressing down the blade. Besides requiring two hands to operate which leads to inconvenience, such a structure also suffers from the drawback that the blade is prone to sliding out or performing the cutting operation unexpectedly due to lack of a fixing structure.
- The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the afore-described disadvantages.
- To overcome the afore-described disadvantages, an automatic pop-up cigar cutter in accordance with the present invention comprises: a base, a cutting blade assembly, at least one cutting blade spring, a control knob assembly and a control spring. The base is formed with a cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove for accommodation of the cutting blade assembly. cutting blade assembly 20 is disposed in the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 from the opening of the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 of thebase 10. Thecutting blade assembly 20 is provided with acutting blade 30 at an end thereof which extends into the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11. Thecutting blade assembly 20 is further provided on at least one side thereof with an assemblingpin 21 for cooperating with the assemblinggroove 13, and in the present embodiment, thecutting blade assembly 20 is provided on both sides thereof with an assemblingpin 21. Thecutting blade assembly 20 is formed with afixing hole 31, and a movinghole 32 extending from thefixing hole 31 in the sliding direction of thecutting blade 30. A width of thefixing hole 31 is greater than that of themoving hole 32 in the sliding direction of thecutting blade 30. Thefixing hole 31 and the movinghole 32 both are through holes. - In the present embodiment, two
cutting blade springs 40 are provided. The twocutting blade springs 40 are mounted on the assemblingpins 21 in the assemblinggrooves 13. A first end of each of the twocutting blade springs 40 is pressed against thebase 10, and a second end of each of the twocutting blade springs 40 is pressed against thecutting blade assembly 20, so that thecutting blade assembly 20 and thecutting blade 30 are normally elastically pressed toward the opening of the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11. - The

Since thecontrol spring 60 elastically pushes against the movingknob 52, the movingknob 52 will protrude outwards to push thefixing cylinder 511 of thefixing knob 51 back into thefixing hole 31, and since thefixing cylinder 511 is bigger than the movinghole 32, the fixingcylinder 511 will be limited in thefixing hole 31, thus keeping thecutting assembly 20 and thecutting blade 30 in the pressed state while keeping thecutting blade springs 40 in a compressed state. - To use cigar cutter, as shown in
FIGS. 5 and 6 , pressing the movingknob 52 of thecontrol knob assembly 50 can push the fixingcylinder 511 away from thefixing hole 31 while pressing thecontrol spring 60 to make the movingcylinder 521 extend into thefixing hole 31 of thecutting blade 30, since the movingcylinder 521 is smaller than thefixing hole 31 and the movinghole 32, the compressedcutting blade springs 40 will push thecutting blade 30 out of the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 and the movinghole 32 to move relative to the movingcylinder 521. When the moving cylinder 321 arrives at a second end of the movinghole 32 from thefixing hole 31 at a first end of the movinghole 32, thecutting blade 30 will move away from thecutting hole 14, at this moment, a cigar can be inserted into thecutting hole 14, and then thecutting assembly 20 will be pressed to move toward thecutting hole 14 together with thecutting blade 30, and thus thecutting blade 30 will cut off the cigar in thecutting hole 14. - A
cutting blade assembly 20A in accordance with another embodiment of the present invention, as shown inFIG. 7 , includes afixing hole 31 A which is a blind hole, and a movinghole 32A which is a through hole. - With the abovementioned arrangements, the automatic pop-up cigar cutter has the following advantages:
- 1. To use the cigar cutter, the user only needs to press the
control knob assembly 50 only, thecutting blade assembly 20 including thecutting blade 30 will pop up by means of thecutting blade spring 40, achieving the objective of exposing thecutting hole 14, it can be found that the user can perform such an operation with one hand and insert the cigar through thecutting hole 14 with the other hand, after that, the user can press down the cutting blade assembly with the same hand to cut off the cigar, improving the convenience in use. - 2. The
cutting blade assembly 20 can be assuredly fixed by thecontrol knob assembly 50, so that when not in use, thecutting blade 30 of thecutting blade assembly 20 won't move, open or close unexpectedly, avoiding the undesired cutting and further improving the safety in use. - While we have shown and described various embodiments in accordance with the present invention, it is clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
