- U.S. Pat. No. 3,865,377 to Cooper and Reinertsen describes a shuffleboard type game comprising a playing surface and a plurality of pucks which are slid across the playing surface.
- U.S. Pat. No. 4,938,485 to Hockridge and Buck describes a bean bag toss game comprising a chamber having an opening for acceptance of a bean bag tossed therethrough.
- U.S. Pat. No. 6,634,954 to Diaw describes a miniature bowling game comprising a base and an elongated bowling alley with diverging sidewalls and a ball for a down the alley to knock over pins situated at the end of the alley.
- None of these prior art references describe the game of the present invention.
- It is an object of the present invention to provide a game of skill and strategy comprising a board on a swivel base and game pieces for targeting placement on the board by sliding and shooting.
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing the components of the game of the present invention. -
FIG. 2 is a bottom view of the board showing the swivel base. -
FIG. 3 is a top view of the game board of the present invention. - The present invention provides a full and challenging new game, hereinafter referred to as the Center Point. Simply stated, this specially designed, interactive game is similar in concept to the game of shuffleboard, but features easy-to-use components. Appropriate for children as well as adults, the Center Point was created for multiple players, ages 5 and older. To play the game, players would “pluck” a game piece toward the center point of a game board, and the player who comes closest and earns a predetermined amount of points is declared the winner. All of the above components of the Center Point are packaged in a convenient bag or box for easy storage and transport. The game can be played outdoors or indoors. The game board is placed on the floor or ground and the pieces are slid or shot across the surface of the board. The board can be rotated on its swivel base for accommodating the position of each player.
- There are many significant benefits and advantages associated with the Center Point. This game offers consumers hours of competitive and challenging fun. A game of strategy and skill, the Center Point provides players with a means of stimulating the mind, honing their thought process, and improving hand to eye coordination. Offering a reprieve from the stresses of daily life, this exciting game encourages positive social and family interaction through good-natured competition. With simple to follow instructions, the Center Point can be enjoyed by children as well as adults.
- Moreover, the lightweight playing pieces offered with this game make the Center Point a more user-friendly game than the similarly-themed shuffleboard, in that small children, disabled adults, or the elderly would be able to enjoy this time-honored amusement without struggling with heavy and cumbersome materials.
- Consumers will also appreciate the versatility of the Center Point, as it could be played in virtually any outdoor arena with soft ground, whether one's backyard, the beach, or a public park. Featuring durable, weather-resistant plastic construction, this game would withstand years of continued use and play.
- The Center Point is a cleverly designed invention that s players a fun and exciting game of strategy. Both simple and challenging, this entertaining game effectively fosters camaraderie and competition as it is played.
- Although this invention has been described with respect to specific embodiments, it is not intended to be limited thereto and various modifications which will become apparent to the person of ordinary skill in the art are intended to fall within the spirit and scope of the invention as described herein taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and the appended claim.
