Abstract

The invention, Homework and Classroom Survival Kit provides an improved method for organizing homework school supplies such as markers, crayons, eraser, pencils, scissors, glue sticks rulers, sharpener, finger manipulatives and learning aids in separate compartments. The kit organizes school supplies and assist children in the learning process using learning aids. The learning aids are laminated pages that measure approximately 5 inches by 8 inches with lessons that will help students in english, science and mathematics. All items are placed in compartments, in a box that is made of cardboard or plastic. The manipulatives are small solid plastic circles about one inch in diameter that assist a child in counting. The other learning aids will consist of basic lessons in science and english that a parent can use when working with their child at home. The box will measure approximately 9 inches long 12 inches wide and 2 inches high. This substitute specification contains no new matter.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
  • Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention generally provides a homework and classroom survival kit, including a plastic box with compartments that comes with pens, pencils, glue stick, crayons etc. Each compartment is specifically designed to fit a particular size and shape of item.
  • Currently, when parents shop for school supplies, they must buy all of the items separately. For example, they must buy items such as pens, pencils, glue sticks, markers etc., and then a parent or child will need to organize the supplies in a drawer, shoe box or separately purchased supply box. This homework survival kit enables a child to complete his or her homework with supplies, and instructional aids in a handy and organized kit.
  • An embodiment of the present invention, which may be called “The Homework And Classroom Survival Kit with Educational Aids,” includes a pre-packaged item that is constructed of plastic and has compartments for each item listed above. The kit may come with all of the items necessary to complete a homework assignment. The kit may be sold as one item. This kit can also be used in the classroom as a classroom survival kit.
  • As depicted in the figures, an embodiment 10 may have the following elements: ruler compartment 36; markers compartment 24; crayons compartment 26; scissors and glue stick compartment 30; manipulative compartment 32; pencil, eraser, and sharpener compartment 34; tape compartment 28 and a handle for the kit 20.
  • Each compartment within the box may be measured to hold each item. The items being used can be purchased or manufactured. In an embodiment, dimensions may be approximately 9.75 inches wide by 12.5 inches long. Other embodiments, when produced, include dimensions of each box compartment or of the entire kit.
  • In an embodiment, the supplemental educational aids are held in place by two clips 36. The educational materials held by the clips may include general rules, instructional tips, and wipe off practice cards in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics and other core subjects. The materials can be, for example, about 8 inch by 10 inch cards with information on both sides. An embodiment includes top closure 14 with upper snap closures 18 and a handle 20. The bottom 12 of the kit has lower storage units 22 and includes bottom snap closures 16.
  • An exemplary embodiment of the plastic box may be made of clear plastic. The top half of the box will open up on plastic hinges in the back. There may be two plastic snap shut buttons in the front. There may be a molded carrying handled formed into the front of the container between the two snap shut buttons. The container may be 9 inches wide and 11 inches long. The bottom half of the container may have a depth of approximately 2.5 inches. The lid, or top half, can close flush with the bottom half of the container. The items are not able to shift from one compartment to another when the container is closed. There may be 7 compartments molded into the bottom half of the container, each having walls that are flush with the top of the container. The container may be stackable. Plastic used for this may be the type that is the norm for plastic used for children, and is the industry standard.
  • In an embodiment, regarding the outside of the container, there may be a logo on the top of the container. The logo may be placed on the container by an adhesive. Part of the application may say “Homework and Classroom Survival Kit with Educational Aids.” There may be other images added later. The logo may measure 6 inches by 6 inches.
  • An embodiment includes the container, the compartments, and the items in the compartments. The size can be adjusted accordingly, if there is a classroom survival kit, or different grade level need. Embodiments include the logo on the top, a built-in carrying handle and snap closures. The compartments of the box can be rearranged as long as they fit within the overall design. The box's outer dimensions can be adjusted depending on the grade level and if different items are placed in it. The color of the box can be changed.
  • An embodiment of the container organizes all of the items needed for a student to do his or her homework or class work. It keeps the items in one place. All of the items are being sold inside the container as one item. The individual compartments are included.
  • To use an embodiment, a person would open it and use the items inside to complete the homework or class work. It can be used at all grade levels and used during the school day. The educational aids will act as a resource in order to assist a child when completing an assignment. For example, a child working on addition facts could have a number line and manipulative counters included in the kit with a strategies card and a wipe off practice sheet. The instructional aids can assist a child with key concepts in reading, writing, mathematics and other core subject areas. In addition, general homework helper tips for parents could be included in the kit.
  • An embodiment organizes all of these items for work to be completed at school and at home. It may make a parent's life significantly easier by having all of the items in one place, in a highly organized kit. The additional homework tips and instructional aides will further assist the parent and child with regard to the completion of homework assignments.
  • It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.

Claims (1)

1. A kit comprising:
a container;
a lid on the container, rotatably attached to the container with a hinge;
snaps to retain the lid closed to the container;
a carrying handle on the container;
school supplies; and
specific compartments that are measured in the container to contain each school item individually, thereby providing a kit of school supplies that can be closed and carried.
