The primary object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, wherein a rack and a garbage pail holder can be supported beneath a kitchen sink and will be conveniently accessible, the rack being adaptable for receiving soap, sponges, brushes, cloths or. other articles usable for cleaning purposes, and whennot in use will be so held as to be hidden from view and to assure a sanitary condition, while the garbage pail is movable to a position for the reception of garbage, trash or the like and normally is in closed position and out of the way.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, wherein the garbage pail is supported in a novel manner and is conviently accessible by reason of the fact that when the holder for the: garbage pail is manipulated to give access to the pail the lid thereto will be automatically raised or opened and on the movement of the holder to normal position out ofthe way the lid will close.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, wherein the rack for the cleaning mediums and the garbage pail holder can be conveniently manipulated and are supported ina manner to render the same freely accessible and whennot in use thoroughly sanitary.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and efficient in its purpose, readily and easily assembled and mounted for use, strong, durable, and inexpensive to manufacture and install.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will-be hereinafter more fully described in detail, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which discloses the preferred embodiment of the invention, and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.

Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawings.
Referring to the drawings in detail, A designates generally a portion of a vertical wall of an enclosure and B diagrammatically a portion of a kitchen sink supported by said wall. The device constituting the present invention is adapted to be disposed beneath the sink B and carried by the wall A, it including a stationary support having the spaced parallel horizontally arranged side members [0 joining at their innermost ends and cross piece ll provided with suitable openings I2 for fasteners (not shown) and used for securing the support upon the wall A. These side members have joined therewith angular braces i3 integral with a cross piece M, the latter being also made fast to the wall. The pieces I! and [4 ing in of such drawer in the support. The side members I!) carry spring snap latches 2!, these being engageable in seats 22 provided in the sides It of the drawer I1 and functioning to frictionally latch the said drawer either when pulled outwardly or pushed inwardly.
Fitted within the drawer in suitable spaces 23 provided therein are holders 24 and 25, respectively, .these'beingadaptable for the reception of soap, sponges, cloths'or other cleaning mediums, the holders being arranged with soap trays 26 and such holders and trays being re- "39 of said cylinder.
movable from the drawer, when the occasion re- 33 next to the link 49, so that on tilting the holder quires.
Provided on the outer faces of the side members it! are loops 21 for detachably accommodating clips 28 on side cheeks or plates 29 which close the sides of the support, it being apparent that the cheeks or plates 29 are removable fro said support.
Carried by the side members ill intermediate of their length are suitable socket pieces 31 for detachable mounting of depending hangers between which is arranged a garbage pail holder 32 having a swinging arm 33 pivoted to said hangers at 34 for tilting or swinging movement. The holder 32 carries a lid or cover 35 connected by a hinge 38' to the rearmost point of said holder for opening and closing movements, the foremost portion of the'holder 32 being provided with a handhold 3?.
' The channeled bar l5 carries a cross pivot 38 for the hinging end 39 of a piston cylinder 453 having slidably fitted therein the piston ll, its stem 42 working through the said cylinder and being provided with a connector hook e3 engaged with the holder 32. Surrounding the stem :12 within the cylinderifl is a coiled tensioning spring 14, the cylinder being fitted with an adjustable air escapement 45 at the hinging end Thus it will be apparent that under the operation of the piston 4! within the cylinder 48 and the cooperating spring 44 with the air escapement 45, the pail holder 32,
when tilted forwardly, will be checked and returned to normal upright position, the tilted position of the holder 32 being shown in Figure 10 and the normal upright position being shown in Figure 9 of the drawings. When the holder 32 is tilted, ready access may be had thereto for the reception of garbage in a garbage pail placed within the holder.
Connected with the inner end of the drawer !l is a chain 46 which is also connected to the center handle til on the lid 35, the chain 46 being of the required length that when the holder 32 is pulled to tilting position this chain will operate upon the lid 35 so that the holder will be opened automatically and by gravity the lid 35 will close when the said holder 32 is returned to normal upright position. It should be apparent that by reason of the length of the chain 46 it will not interfere with the pulling of the drawer l'l outwardly of the support and without disturbing the lid 35 when the said holder 32 is in normal upright position, this being apparent from Figures 1, 9 and 10 of the drawings.
The air trapped within the cylinder to will operate as a cushion upon the piston 4! to retard the quick action of the spring 54 when contracted by the outward tilting of the holder 32 so that this holder, when being automatically returned to upright position, will gradually assume that position from its tilted position.
The drawer I1, through the medium of the latches 2i engaging the seats 22, will be frictionally held inwardly of the support and when the holder 32 is tilted the chain 46 will be active upon the lid or cover 35 to exert a pull thereon and thus the holder 32 willbe opened when in the tilted position. To each hanger 3| above the pivot 34 connecting the swinging arms 33 thereto is pivoted, at 48, one end of a link 49 which, at its other end, has the slot 50 and in this slot is received the pin 5| carried by the said arms 32 forwardly, this link 49 will limit the throw or swinging movement of such holder, as will be apparent in Figure 10 of the drawings. The pin 5| on the arm 33 of the holder 32 is above the swinging axis of the link and is adapted for displacement in the slot 50 in the latter during the swinging of the holder 32.
It should be obvious that convenient access can be had to the drawer on the pulling outwardly thereof for the use of the cleaning mediums as may be held thereby and also ready access may be had to the holder 32 for the placing of garbage within the garbage pail as contained therein, the garbage pail being not shown.
