Abstract

A cap of a garbage can includes a cap body, a shutter device, a shutter base and a press device. The shutter device is controlled by the press device to open or close. When the press device is pressed down, the shutter members are actuated to retreat to one side or expand out to open or close the opening of the cap body, easy to be operated and impossible to make noises.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • This invention relates to a cap of a garbage can, particularly to one able to open the opening of the cap of the garbage can without need to lift or remove it manually, but pressing a pressing device with a finger or with a foot pressing down a pedal.
  • 2. Description of the Prior Art
  • Garbage cans with caps tally with the requirements of sanitation and environmental protection; therefore, such garbage cans have been researched and developed. One of them is a conventional pedal-controlled garbage can 1 having a cap 10 threadably combined thereon, as shown in FIG. 1, but the cap 10 is not easy to be assembled with the can body because the interacting mechanism 12 between the pedal 11 and the cap 10 has lots of components and is complicated in its structure. In addition, when the cap 10 is opened or closed by pressing a pedal, there may produce colliding noises and make the garbage can 1 unstable.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The objective of the invention is to offer a cap of a garbage can, provided with a cap body, a shutter blade device and a press device, able to open the opening of the cap body of the garbage can and needless to lift or remove it manually.

  • FIG. 10 is a perspective view of the cap body and the pedal of a garbage can in the present invention, showing the shutter device completely opened by the pedal.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • A preferred embodiment of an upper cover of a garbage can in the present invention, as shown in FIGS. 2 to 9, includes a cap body 2, a shutter device 3, a shutter base 4 and a press device 5 combined together.
  • The cap body 2 is ring-shaped, provided with a center opening 25, having its underside formed with an annular accommodating chamber 20 fixed therein with a plurality of positioning posts 21 spaced apart equidistantly on the bottom surface. The cap body 2 is further provided with plural elastic engage projections 22 and combining elongate members 23 spaced apart on the annular bottom surface and a fit protruding members 24 on the circumference.
  • The shutter device 3 to be positioned just under the cap body 2 is composed of multiple arc-shaped shutter members 30 and a rotary ring 31. Each arc-shaped shutter member 30 has one end provided with a positioning hole 300 and an engage lug 301. The rotary ring 31 to be engaged with the engaged lugs 301 of the arc-shaped shutter members 30 is bored with a plurality of engage notches 310 and has an insert member 311 provided to extend down from a certain location and secured thereon with two slidable position posts 3110, 3111.
  • The shutter base 4 to be assembled under the shutter device 3 has its circumferential inner side bored with an annular accommodating groove 40 having its circumferential wall provided with plural engage slots 41 and engage projections 42 spaced apart. The shutter base 4 further has one outer side formed with a protruding-out combining base 43 with two fit grooves 430 on two upper ends.
  • The press device 5 to be fitted with the combining base 43 is composed of a main body 50, a press plate 51, a swing-and-press member 52 and two control blocks 53, 54. The main body 50 of the press device 5 has its opposite sides respectively provided with an insert block 500. The swing-and-press member 52 is an arc-shaped plate and has the opposite sides of its underside respectively bored with a recessed groove 520, 521. The two control blocks 53, 54 are respectively positioned under the two recessed grooves 520, 521 of the swing-and-press member 52. The two control blocks 53, 54 are respectively bored with an oblique slide groove 530, 540. The press plate 51 to be covered on the main body 50 is bored with a round hole 510.
  • In assembling, firstly, the engage lugs 301 of the arc-shaped shutter members 30 are respectively inserted in the engage notches 310 of the rotary ring 31 and then the upper cap body 2 is covered on the shutter device 3, letting the positioning holes 300 of the shutter blade device 3 respectively aligned to the positioning posts 21 of the cap body 2 and the combining elongate members 23 of the cap body 2 positioned on the upper edge of the rotary ring 31. Then, bolts are respectively inserted in the positioning holes 300 of the shutter members 30 and screwed with the positioning posts 21 of the cap body 2. Next, the pressing device 5 is inserted in the combining base 43 of the shutter base 4, with the oblique slide grooves 530, 540 of the two control blocks 53, 54 respectively fitted with the two slidable position posts 3110, 3111 of the rotary ring 31. Then the insert member 311 of the rotary ring 31 and the two control blocks 53, 54 are together inserted in the combining base 43 of the shutter base 4, letting the two control blocks 53, 54 fixed in position. Subsequently, the swing-and-press member 52 is positioned on the main body 50 by bolts, and the main body 50 is pressed and fitted on the combining base 43 of the shutter base 4, letting the recessed grooves 520 of the swing-and-press member 52 pressed and fitted with the control block 54 and the elastic engage projections 22 of the cap body 2 respectively engaged with the engage slots 41 of the shutter base 4. Lastly, the press plate 51 of the press device 5 is covered on the main body 50 to finish assemblage of the garbage can.
  • In using, the cap body 2 is positioned closed on the garbage can (A) and the interacting rod (A10) of the pedal (A1) of the garbage can (A) is fitted through the round hole 510 of the press plate 51. To open the opening 25 of the cap body 2 of the garbage can (A), only press down the press plate 51 manually to let the press plate 51 press the swing-and-press member 52, which then press down the control block 53. Then the slidable position post 3111 is moved obliquely downward guided by the oblique slide groove 530 of the control block 53 so that the rotary ring 31 to rotate clockwise, and the engage lugs 301 of the shutter members 30 move rightward together with the engage notchs 310 of the rotary ring 31 as shown in FIG. 5. Thus, with the positioning posts 21 serving as fulcrums, the shutter members 30 may be moved to retreat to one side to let the opening 25 of the cap body 2 can be easily opened.
  • To close the opening of the cap body 2, simply continuously press down the press plate 51, then the swing-and-press member 52 is moved downward and turned to press the control block 54. When the swing-and-press member 52 is continuously pressed to move the control block 54 downward, the slidable positioning posts 3111 of the rotary ring 31 is moved along the oblique slide groove 540 of the control block 54 so that the rotary ring 31 may rotate counterclockwise, with the shutter members 30 together with the engage lugs 301 will be moved leftwards to expand out to close up the opening 25 of the cap body 2.
  • As can be understood from the above description, this invention has the following advantages.
  • 1. It is easy to open or close the opening 25 of the cap body 2, needless to lift or remove the cap body 2 manually.
  • 2. The opening 25 of the cap body 2 is opened and closed by retreating to one side or expanding out the shutter device 3, avoiding colliding noises caused by the cap body 2 and the garbage can (A).
  • 3. The cap body 2 has its opening 25 opened by the shutter device 3, preventing unpleasant odor from spreading about caused by lifting or removing the cap body manually.
  • 4. The rotary ring 31 of the shutter device 3 can be turned leftward or rightward to actuate the arc-shaped shutter members 30 to retreat to one side or expand out by means of the oblique slide grooves 530, 540 of the control blocks 53, 54 of the press device 5, convenient and innovative in operating.
  • While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
