Description

    CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • Applicant claims priority from provisional patent application Ser. No. 60/656,473 filed Feb. 28, 2005, to the extent allowed by law.
  • FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present disclosure relates to a hairbrush holder, and more particularly to a hairbrush organizer or caddy adapted to hold a plurality of various sized hairbrushes in ready reach of a salon employee or one brushing their hair at home.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Hairbrushes used by beauty professionals or private consumers typically are stored in drawers, in cupboards or on shelves. Generally, the storage of hairbrushes is cumbersome, awkward and in disarray.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 5,450,970 discloses a comb and hairbrush holder which is a block having extending support bristles to engage the teeth of combs and the bristles of hairbrushes. This comb and hairbrush holder is not suitable for round hairbrushes, used by many consumers for hair styling and is not convenient for storage on a shelf or in a cupboard.
  • The present invention overcomes the disadvantages of the prior art, as described in the detailed description of the disclosure.
  • SUMMARY
  • The present disclosure relates to a holder for hairbrushes. More particularly, the holder is for round hairbrushes of various sizes. The present disclosure may also be referred to as an organizer or caddy for round hairbrushes:
  • The holder comprises a planar support member, optionally having a plurality of feet. The holder also has at least one cylindrical receptacle having a superior open end, extending from the support member. The cylindrical receptacles are of suitable sizes for receiving, storing and organizing round hairbrushes, and each receptacle has an appropriate height so the handle of the brush extends over the superior edge of the cylindrical receptacle. This allows for ease in grasping the hairbrush handle for use.
  • Additional features of the present disclosure will become apparent to those skilled in the art upon consideration of the following Detailed Description of example embodiments of the disclosure.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 shows a side view of a hairbrush holder constructed in accordance with the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of a hairbrush holder;
  • FIG. 3 shows a perspective view of a grooved support member; and
  • FIG. 4 shows a side view of a hairbrush holder with a cover.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE ILLUSTRATED EMBODIMENT
  • The present disclosure relates to a hairbrush holder suitable for holding and organizing a plurality of various sizes of round hairbrushes. In the figures, the hairbrush holder is generally referred to as holder (10). FIGS. 1 and 2 depict a planar support member (11), which optionally has a plurality of feet (13). The feet (13) are preferably made of rubber, felt or plastic and are suitably adhered to the bottom of the support member (11) utilizing any adhesive known in the art.
  • The hairbrush holder (10) may be made of appropriate material known in the art, including but not limited to plastics, wood, metal, ceramic, glass, clay and combinations thereof.
  • The shape of the support member (11) may be rectangular as shown in FIG. 1, or may be of a variety of planar shapes including, but not limited to, circular, oval, rectangular or any polygon.
  • The support member (11) may also be of a variety of dimensions. In an embodiment of the present invention, the support member (11) is rectangular and has a horizontal length ranging from approximately 9 inches to approximately 15 inches. The width of the support member (11) may be approximately 4 inches to approximately 10 inches. Those skilled in the art will recognize that a variety of suitable dimensions may be used in the present disclosure.
  • FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 illustrate a plurality of cylindrical receptacles (12) extending from support member (11). The cylindrical receptacles (12) may be permanently affixed to the support member (11) or may be removably attached to the support member (11). In an embodiment, the support member (11) has grooves (15), as shown in FIG. 3, of the same dimensions as the outer circumference of the cylindrical receptacles (12), wherein the receptacles (12) are removably engagable with the corresponding groove (15). This allows for ease of removing the cylindrical receptacles (12) for cleaning.
  • The cylindrical receptacles (12) may be of a variety of dimensions suitable for receiving round hairbrushes presently known in the art and hereafter developed. In an embodiment, the diameter of the cylindrical receptacles (12) ranges from about 1 inch to about 3 inches. The thickness of the cylindrical receptacle (12) may be from about 1/16 inch to about ¼ inch. It is apparent to those skilled in the art that a variety of dimensions may be used for receiving significantly larger or smaller round items with handles.
  • The hairbrush holder (10) may optionally have a cover (18) as shown in FIG. 4. The cover may be made of wood, plastic, metal, cloth, canvas, leather, ceramic, glass, clay and combinations thereof. The cover (18) serves to protect the hairbrush holder from dust and debris and may also serve a decorative function. The cover (18) may contain decorative paintings, logos and the like for aesthetic pleasure. The cover (18) may have an optional handle (19) to ease in handling.
  • It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the hairbrush holder (10) may be used to hold a variety of shapes and sizes of brushes. In one mode, the brushes are placed in the receptacles with the brush end down. The brush handle extends above the upper rim of each receptacle (12) for ease of removal of a desired brush from the receptacle.
  • While the concepts of the present disclosure have been illustrated and described in detail in the drawings and foregoing description, such an illustration and description is to be considered as exemplary and not restrictive in character, it being understood that only the illustrative embodiments have been shown and described and that all changes and modifications that come within the spirit of the disclosure are desired to be protected by the following claims.
