Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates generally to personal care and grooming devices. More particularly, the invention relates to a personal care device which is formed in the shape of a credit card and has multiple personal care tools integrated therein.
  • 2. Prior Art
  • There have been many personal care tools and grooming devices heretofore which are carried in a purse or a pocket. Such devices include, combs, nail files, nail clippers, etc. A more recent need for carrying such devices is due to enhanced security measures employed at airports, many of these prior objects are not capable of being transported onto the main cabin of an airplane. Still other uses for such a device include use in survival and camping situations. There remains a need to provide a personal care device which can be carried on-board which meets the above needs.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • It is an object to provide a personal care card which meets Federal Airline restriction requirements.
  • It is another object to provide a personal care device which can be in the form of a card for carrying in a slot of one's wallet.
  • It is yet another object to provide a personal care card having tools for checking one's physiological condition, treating a condition and/or grooming one's self.
  • It is another object to provide a personal care device for use in camping and survival situations.
  • Accordingly, the present invention is directed to a personal care card. The card includes a personal care tool, and a relatively thin card having a front side, a back side and a peripheral edge, wherein the personal care tool is formed as a separate and distinct part to that in which it is formed thereby enabling visual identification thereof as the tool apart from the side and edge in which it is formed, and wherein the tool enables checking one's physiological condition, treating a condition, providing a survival utility and/or grooming one's self.
  • The personal care card can be made of polymeric material generally in the size and shape of a credit card for being carried in a slot of a wallet. Other laminated plastic, paper, molded or extruded plastic, or composites, or metal can be employed.
  • The card can be formed with a cuticle cleaning aid (a nail file and a nail pick), a comb, a mirror, lens, thermometer, or a storage area (e.g., an openable/closable recess or slot) for containing chemicals (oils, perfumes, medications, emollients, pheromones, repellants, or, flint, match or needle and thread etc.). Printed indicia, such as advertising or other information, can be printed on the card.
  • Other objectives of the present invention will become apparent from a consideration of the drawings and ensuing description.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING
  • FIG. 1 is a front view of an embodiment of the personal care card of the present invention.
  • FIG. 2 is a back view of the embodiment in FIG. 1.
  • FIG. 2A is a cross section of the embodiment of FIG. 2 taken through line 2A-2A.
  • FIG. 3 is a front view of another embodiment of the personal care card of the present invention.
  • FIG. 4 is a back view of the embodiment in FIG. 3.
  • FIG. 5 is a front view of yet another embodiment of the personal care card of the present invention.
  • FIG. 6 is a back view of the embodiment in FIG. 5.
  • FIG. 7 is a front view of still another embodiment of the personal care card of the present invention.
  • FIG. 8 is a back view of the embodiment in FIG. 1.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • Referring now to the drawings, the personal care card of the instant invention is generally referred to by the numerals 10, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500. The personal care card 10 is shown in a front view in FIG. 1 and back view in FIG. 2, personal care card 100 is shown in a front view in FIG. 3 and back view in FIG. 4, personal care card 200 is shown in a front view in FIG. 5 and back view in FIG. 6, personal care card 300 is shown in a front view in FIG. 7 and personal care card 400 is shown in a front view in FIG. 8. The cards 10, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 can preferably be made of relatively thin laminated plastic and die cut, or can be made of paper, molded or extruded plastic, or composites, or metal, and formed via a laser cut, stamping, embossing, extruding, or other molding process, for example, which can impart desired features. The personal care cards 10, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 is generally in the size and shape of a credit card for being carried in a slot of wallet, for example. Like numerals indicate like formed parts.
  • The personal care card 10 includes tools for checking one's physiological condition, treating a condition, providing a survival utility and/or grooming one's self. More particularly, the personal care card 10 includes a front side 12, a back side 14 and a peripheral edge 16, wherein a personal care tool is formed as a separate and distinct part to that in which it is formed thereby enabling visual identification thereof as the tool apart from the side 12 or 14 and edge 16 in which it is formed. The tool enables checking one's physiological condition, treating a condition, providing a survival utility and/or grooming one's self. The tool of the card 10 can include a mirrored surface 18 formed as a PSA or hologram. Another tool can be cuticle cleaning aids, such as curved edge nail cleaner 20, pointed nail cleaner 22 or knurled edge 24 of the type shown. A nail manicuring surface such as an Emory surface 26 or fine tines 28 for moustaches or lice removal, or spaced tines 30 for a hair comb which can be positioned along edge 16.
  • Further, the tool can include a liquid crystal thermometer 32 can serve as the tool of the invention. The tool can also include a color changing stress chip 34. A storage area 36 can be formed as part of the laminate as an openable/closable recess or slot for containing chemicals, such as oils, aromatherapy, perfumes, fragrances, medication, emollients, pheromones, repellants, needle and thread, bandage, flint, match, dental floss, etc.). The storage area 36 can be a thin channel, trough in a desired form such as square or rectangle, and the chemical can be a gel, liquid, semisolid or solid which can be covered with a peel off material which can be resealable using a tacky material for example. The peel off material can reveal a small opening in the channel through which the chemical must be forcibly removed, for example, by squeezing the closed end of the channel.
  • FIGS. 3 and 4 show card 100 having printed indicia 40, such as advertising or other information thereon. A recessed thumb pad 42 can also be provided to aid the user to hold the card 100 in order to effectively use it to clean the cuticle area.
  • FIGS. 5 and 6 show other tools such as a lens 44, which can be a frensel lens or to aid in magnifying, a compass 45, and a needle or hook 46 embedded in wax in a recessed area of the card 200. The wax can include a fire starter material. A strike plate 48 can be formed in the card 200. A plurality of longitudinal containing surfaces 50, 52 and 54, which can be generally cylindrical, can be formed on the card 200 to contain insect repellant stick 56, fire starter flint stick 58 and fishing line/threaded stick 60, respectively.
  • Still other embodiments in FIGS. 7 and 8 show cards 300 and 400. Card 300 includes, for example, plurality of longitudinal containing surfaces 62 and 64 disposed at either end to include a lipstick or gloss stick 66 and fragrance stick or eyeliner stick 68. Card 400 shows a longitudinal containing surface 70 to include mascara and brush stick 72. It is also contemplated that the stick could be a writing instrument and that the card include a writing surface.
  • Accordingly, the present personal care card provides a novel personal care card. The card provides a number of personal care and treatment tools and serves as an acceptable substitute for traditional devices and which serves as a convenient carrying device for travel and security purposes. The present invention is believed to overcome such deficiencies in the art.
  • The above described embodiments are set forth by way of example and are not for the purpose of limiting the present invention. Various features of the cards can be used to derive a card for a particular market. For example, to form a card for an infant, the card can include the thermometer, fine comb, mirror, first aid components, medicine, etc. A cosmetic card can include various beauty features described above whereas a survival card can include the personal care and life support features described above. It will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art that obvious modifications, derivations and variations can be made to the embodiments without departing from the scope of the invention. Accordingly, the claims appended hereto should be read in their full scope including any such modifications, derivations and variations.
