Abstract

A two-piece board having flat rigid tops, inner rectangular bottoms and short legs is disclosed. The two-piece board can be retained in place on top of a conventional pool table with its short legs snugly fitted inside certain holes of the pool table. The two-piece board on top of the pool table thus converts the pool table into an ordinary table. A net can optionally be suspended across the middle of the table to play table tennis.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Field of the Invention
  • Conventional pool tables are bulky and heavy, not easily movable from one location to another. Therefore, when they are not in use, they take up considerable space which could otherwise be used for other purposes in the same room. The objective of the present invention is thus to readily convert a conventional pool table into an ordinary table or a table to play table tennis.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • A main object of the present invention is to provide a rigid top which can be readily retained in place on top of a pool table to easily convert said pool table into an ordinary table or a table to play table tennis.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 shows a conventional pool table with a flat felt surface, a rectangular outer wall surrounding said flat felt surface and holes where rolling balls are introduced.
  • FIG. 2 shows a two-piece board having flat rigid tops, inner rectangular bottoms and short legs with the exact size and shape to be snugly fitted on top of the pool table shown in FIG. 1.
  • FIG. 3 shows the same two-piece board illustrated in FIG. 2 from another perspective.
  • FIG. 4 shows the two-piece board illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3 accommodated on top of the pool table shown in FIG. 1 to thus convert the pool table into an ordinary table. The short legs of the two-piece board are snugly fitted inside certain holes of the pool table.
  • FIG. 5 shows a pair of joints which can be optionally installed to join together the two-piece board. Said joints have holes which can be optionally used to erect a pair of short poles to suspend a net across the middle of the two piece-board to play table tennis.
  • FIG. 6 shows the pair of joints illustrated in FIG. 5 actually joining together the two-piece board.
  • FIG. 7 shows a pair of short poles and a net suspended across the middle of the two-piece board to thus convert the apparatus into a table to play table tennis.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • FIG. 1 shows a conventional pool table 2 with a felt surface 3, a rectangular outer wall 4 surrounding said flat felt surface, and holes 5.
  • FIG. 2 shows a pair of rectangular board pieces 6. Each rectangular board piece 6 is comprised of a flat rigid top surface 7, an inner rectangular bottom 8, and two corner legs 9 underneath.
  • FIG. 3 shows the same rectangular board pieces 6 illustrated in FIG. 2 from another perspective,
  • FIG. 4 shows the pair of rectangular board pieces 6 placed on top of pool table 2. Inner rectangular bottoms 8 underneath the two board pieces 6 rest over flat felt surface 3, and are snuggly fitted within rectangular outer wall 4 of the pool table. The flat rigid top surface 7 of board pieces 6 cover the entire top of poll table 2 and further extend slightly beyond the periphery of rectangular outer wall 4, as corner legs 9 underneath are snugly fitted inside holes 5.
  • FIG. 5 shows a pair of U-shaped joints 22.
  • FIG. 6 shows the pair of U-shaped joints 22 installed on opposite sides of board pieces 6, joining them together.
  • FIG. 7 shows further a pair of short poles 19 erected over said U-shaped joints 22 to suspend a net 23 across the middle of the table, to thus equip it to play table tennis.

2. In combination with a pool table having a rectangular outer wall to keep rolling balls within said table, and holes in which said balls can be introduced, a board comprised of one or more units having at least one leg with the size and shape necessary to fit inside at least one of said holes, while the generally flat rigid top surface of said board covers said pool table completely.
3. In combination with a pool table having a rectangular outer wall to keep rolling balls within said table, and holes in which said balls can be introduced, a board comprised of one or more units having one or more inner rectangular bottoms with the size and shape necessary to fit snugly within said rectangular outer wall, and having also at least one leg with the size and shape necessary to fit inside at least one of said holes, while the generally flat rigid top surface of said board covers said pool table completely.
