Description

    BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a method of playing a blackjack-style card game in casino environment. In conventional blackjack, the player may stand at any point value and the dealer must continue to deal card] to the dealer's hand if the point value is 16 or less and the dealer must stand at 17 or more. In addition, if the player's hand and the dealer's hand have the same value, the hand is a “push” and no winner is determined. If a player receives an ace and a face card or a 10, that is considered a blackjack and pays 1.5:1 immediately, without seeing the dealer's hand. It may be desirable to have a method of playing a blackjack style card game which allows a player to increase his or her wager after seeing the dealers face up card, but before receiving any of their own cards. [0001]
  • SUMMARY OF INVENTION
  • A forty-eight card deck of cards comprising the Aces through the Nines and the Jacks, Queens and Kings is used in the method of play. The elimination of only the four ten-spot cards (or only any four cards having a numerical count of ten). Preferably multiple decks, up to eight decks, of these forty-eight card decks are used. The elimination of the four ten spot cards and paying a players blackjack even money instead of 3 to 2 will allow the casino to offer the player the option to double their bet after seeing the dealers up card. The dealer will deal himself one card face up first and allow the players to make an additional bet up to the amount of their original bet.[0002]
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, 1. Four 10″s are removed from each deck (face cards are left in) 2. Players place their bets in the box marked “BET”. Players are also given the opportunity to place a side bet in the area marked “Bust It!”. [0003]
  • 3. The dealer then deals himself one card face up and the Players are then given an opportunity to make an additional bet in the box marked “Double Aftack” which is directly behind the box marked “BET”. [0004]
  • 4. Each player is then dealt 2 cards and the dealer takes a hole card. [0005]
  • 5. Play then continues normally as in regular blackjack except all bets (except the insurance bet), including blackjack, pays even money. [0006]
  • 6. As in normal blackjack players may split, re-split, and double. If a player splits or re-splits he must place an additional bet equal to his initial bet in the “BET” box and an additional bet equal to his bet in the double attack box. If a player doubles he may double for an amount up to the value of his initial bet and his double attack bet. [0007]
  • 7. Players will also be allowed to surrender with any number cards and even after splitting. [0008]
  • 8. As in normal blackjack when a player's total is closer to 21 than the dealer's total or when the player's total is 21 or less and the dealer's total exceeds 21 than the player wins. When the player's total is less than the dealer's total (when the dealer's total has not exceeded 21) or when the player's total exceeds 21 the player loses. All pushes are returned to the player. All winning wagers are paid at even money (1 to 1) (except insurance). [0009]
  • 9. A side bet called Bust it! may also be offered. This is a bet on the dealer's total exceeding twenty-one with exactly three cards with variable payoffs depending on the third card the dealer receives. This bet must be made prior to any cards being dealt, including the dealers up card. This bet will also add more excitement to the game by giving the players the opportunity to make an additional bet with a high odds payoff when they feel the dealer is running “cold” and breaking frequently. [0010]
  • As in normal blackjack the objective is to get as close to 21 without going over. This game gives added excitement, however, because the players will have more opportunities to put more money into action beyond his or her initial bet and use more strategy. [0011]
  • In the preferred embodiment the payout odds for Bust It! will be as follows: When the dealer's total exceeds 21 with exactly three cards and the third card drawn by the dealer is a Ten; then the player shall be paid at 3 to 1 odds Nine; then the player shall be at 6 to 1 odds Eight, then the player shall be paid 8 to 1 odds Seven; then the player shall be paid 10 to 1 odds Six, then the player shall be paid 15 to 1 odds If the Bust It! bet is placed on a normal blackjack game where the tens have not been removed then the payouts shall be as follows: When the dealer's total exceeds 21 with exactly three cards and the third card drawn by the dealer is a: Ten; then the player shall be paid at 3 to 1 odds Nine; then the player shall be paid at 5 to 1 odds Eight, then the player shall be paid 7 to 1 odds Seven, then the player shall be paid 9 to 1 odds Six; then the player shall be paid 11 to 1 odds 10) In the preferred embodiment the payout odds for insurance would be 5 to 2. This would make the bet more attractive to players since the removal of four tens from each deck allows for a higher payoff odds. Insurance is a bet that the dealer has a blackjack when the dealers face up card is an ace. [0012]
