`The reservoir is connected adjacent its upper end by means of a pipe 30 to a T-coupling'3l` `vided with a theraded-lower portion-25- adapted to which in turn communicates with the steam main y 3 and the header 2 through the pipe 32. Thel T- coupling 3I is `connected with the T-coupling I6 by rneans'of a pairvof nipples 33 and34 respectively, a pipe 35 and a pair of couplings 36 adaptj ed to receive the ends of a glass water level indcator 3l. The indicator 3 1 issecurely connect- `ed to the `couplings 36=by means of packing vnuts 38. Each of the `couplings 3B is provided with' a valve 39 having a handle 40 for the purpose y of shutting oli communication to the glass water l level indicator 3l when so desired. v
The reservoir I`2 is provided with a removable i cover 4I secured in place by means of bolts 42 and nuts 43 passing through the marginal portion of the cover 4I and an outwardly turned flange l 44 extending from the upper edge of the reservoir. "The wall of thereservoir isr likewise pro--V vided with a. pair of bearing portions 45 project-` a cap 46and a packing nut 41 respectively.
Journaled within the bearings y45 is a shaft 48y i n ing outwardly therefrom and threaded to receive through the hole 55 in the bottom of this receptacle and the receptacle is rmly secured in place by means of the nut 55. The portion 51 of the rod 50, which portion extends below the receptacle 54 and into the valve chamber 24,Y carries at its end a valve 58 adapted to seat against the 'valve seat 23 and be held thereagainst by counterweight 6|. l
The shaft drex'tends'lout through the packing nut 4Tand is providedat its end with a crank pin v `59 to which is secured a rod 60 carrying a weight 6I secured thereto by means of the set screw 52.
This weight 6I is so arrangedas to `form apar-` tial counterbalance for the receptacle 54 and tend to urge it upwardly so as to seatthe valve 58 against the-seat 23.

receptacle 54 filling the receptacle. `The weight 6l is s sufficient to eounterbalance the kweight 'of the receptacle underrthese conditions and cause/Mthereceptacle to float even though it is fullofwater, thus allowing the pressure of water within the supply pipe 29l to close the valve58 and maintain it` positively in closed position. However, when the water level inthe reservoir falls below a .predetermi ned point,- the water does not run outA of the receptacle 5A, but instead servesto give this receptacle suflieient weight to open the valve 58 against the high water pressure in the supply pipe. The presence ofthe reservoir I2separate andV apart from the tubes.y l increases the4 size of the body of water andenables theproper-maintenance .of the water level within the tubes l, it being readily apparent that as soon as the water within the tubes is converted y e Y1,9973535 tacle 54 isadapted to rest. The rod 50 extends into steam, a new supply will be introduced from the reservoir I2. The water level in the tubes can therebyv be more evenly maintained because of the presence of the reservoirk l2 than it could be if only the water within the tubes were tobe considered.
It will be seen from the above that a device has been provided for carrying out all of the objects of this invention in a satisfactory and eiiicient manner. It is apparent,however,that various changes may be made in the details of construc- ,k tion and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit or scope of this invention as set forthin the appended claim.
What we claim is:-
A' waterregulator for a steam generator, said regulator comprising a reservoir, means connect# ing the-supper part. of said reservoir with the 4steamspace in the generator, means extending directly downwardly from the bottom of said reservoir" formsupplying water'lto; the reservoir,` a valve within said downwardly extending means for closing the same,- a bucket within said reservoir, a rod extending down through said downwardly extending means and connecting lsaid bucket andA said valve, saidrod `having a locked connection with the base of the bucket and having its upper end upstanding through and above the bucket, a rotatable shaft extendingthrough the'wall'of said reservoir and having a crank within the reservoir` engaging the upper end of said rod to raise orlower said bucket, Va counterweight externally of said reservoir in connection with fsaid shaft and normally-tending to rotate the shaft in a direction to raise said bucket and move said valve to closed position, lateralmeans connecting said downwardly extending meansxat a point above said'valvelwith the water space in said generator, and means connectingy the bottom of said reservoir with said lateral means intermediate'its ends. i;
