1 Claim.

The present invention relates to a combination wax paper holder and play toy device and consists in the combinations and arrangements of elements hereinafter described and particularly set forth in the accompanying claim.

The invention has for its purpose to provide a device for holding a package of waxed paper in position for convenient handling and in a way permitting the separate sheets to be singly and easily removed; wherein the whole embodies a simple, compact, and unitary structure inexpensive to produce, and of a size easy for storage and handling.

A further purpose of the invention is to provide a device of this character wherein the containing receptacle or holder is so constructed and arranged that after using for its primary purpose it may serve as a play toy. To that end one part of the folder is designed with a plurality of colored sections conveniently colored and otherwise marked to provide cut-outs, and another portion is similarly provided with sections showing symbols of animals or other objects adapted to be colored and removed.

The invention isshown by way of illustration in the accompanying drawing, wherein:

Referring to the construction in further detail and wherein like reference characters designate corresponding parts in the different figures shown, the device or article consists of a suitable fiat-like container or envelope 6 constructed preferably of ordinary cardboard folded upon itself to provide a front portion 7, two overlapping rear portions 8 and 9, and an overlapping top portion 10 as shown. Said rear portions 8 and 9 are suitably provided with slot and tongue engaging elements 11 and 12 (see Figure 5) and contained within the envelope are a plurality of waxed paper sheets 13 folded into a convenient pack and suitably secured at the upper portion thereof by the two staples 14 or other appropriate means.

The container is adapted to be hung against the surface of a wall after the manner illustrated in Figure 1, and for which purpose a tack or other fastening enters through the hollow staple 15 as shown. In this position the bottom of the holder is left open and to the end of giving convenient accessibility for removing the waxed sheets 13 the bottom portions 'of the two rear flaps 8 and 9 are suitably scored along the diagonal lines 16 to provide the two triangular shaped flaps 17 and 18. Said flaps are adapted to be bent rearwardly after the manner indicated in Figure 4 and in which position the marginal edges thereof contact with the surface of the supporting wall and hold open the bottom of the container thereby giving the desired finger space for engaging and pulling off the Wax sheets one by one. In the removal operation it is necessary only to place the thumb lightly against the front lower surface 7 and with the four fingers engaging the exposed wax sheet 13 the same may be conveniently pulled away from the two staple fasteners 14.

When all of the waxed sheets 13 have been removed the container or envelope is designed to be used as a play toy. To that end the front surface 7 is suitably divided into uniform sections which are colored and line-marked forming convenient cut-outs 19 after the usual manner in such articles. Similarly the two back portions 8 and. 9 are divided and marked with pictorial symbols of animals, fowl or the like, adapted to be colored and cut out as with those on the front 1 ceptacle formed from a single piece of cardboard having overlapping and interengaging tongue and slot portions at the back, a closed top, an open bottom, and adapted to be hung against a vertical wall whereby said sheets may be separately removed therefrom, the lower parts of said overlapping back. portions having diagonally scored lines providing triangular shaped members adapted to be bent rearwardly for engagement with the suporting wall to hold the bottom open and give finger access to the waxed sheets, substantially as set forth.
