(01. 2ll -73) The invention relates to display devices and particularly to that type which is made of paper or some other flexible material which may be stamped or otherwise cut to produce a blank 1 capable of being fashioned to form. It is an object of the invention to produce the device or" a strip of material which is formed in a manner so that when the ends or the strip are brought together in locked relation with each 3 other and an article arranged thereon, the article will be displayed at an inclination to the horizontal.

It is a further object of the invention to provide the device with means whereby the circumference may be varied to compensate for and display articles of various dimensions.

It is another object of the invention to provide a locking means having means associated therewith which will assist to maintain the ends 3 of the blank in locked relation with each other.

The invention has these and other objectsiall of which will be explained and more readily understood when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawing which illustrates one embodiment of which the invention is susceptible,

it being manifest that changes and modifications may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the appended claims forming a part hereof.

As before stated, the device is designed to be produced from a blank which is stamped or otherwise formed so that the several advantages of the invention may be accomplished. To this end, a strip of material is employed, the strip being preferably made of cardboard or some other material which is capable of being bent so as to allow the opposite ends such as 11 and 12 of the strip to be brought together into locked relation and thus provide an annular member capable of being arranged in a vertical position and support an article arranged thereon. One edge 13 of the strip or blank is preferably straight Whereas the other edge such as 14 is inclined. 1n the structure illustrated in Fig. 1, the opposite ends of the strip are provided with locking means 11 and 12, the edge 14 being inclined from said ends to the center of length of thestrip to thus produce the inclined edge l lupon which a pie or cake plate may be arranged. It is evident 55 that when the opposite ends 11 and 12 of the strip are brought together and connected with each other an annular element is formed, one

edge of which, such as that designated 14 is disposed at an angle to the horizontal and thus, is 7 capable of displaying an article such as a pie or cake at an inclination to the horizontal.

The opposite ends 11 and 12 are each provided with an element of a locking means respectively designated 15 and 16 and in addition thereto'is 7 provided with a plurality of slots such as 17 and 18. The locking elements such as 15 and 16 preferably takethe shape of atongue, one of which such as the tongue 16 being adapted to cooperate with the slots 17 in the end 11 whereas the tongue 15 is adapted to cooperate with the slots 18 in the end 12, it being understood that the tongues 15 and 16 are capable of being respectively introduced to any one of the several slots 1? and 18 to thereby separably lock the ends 11 and 12 in connected relation with each other and thus vary the diameter of the device and form an annular member.

Each of the ends 11 and 12 is provided with elements such as those designated 19 and 20 which operate upon the respective tongues 15 and 16 to maintain the tongues in the slots respectively designated 17 and 18, as shown in Fig. 4, and re tain the ends in locked relation.

Another embodiment of the invention contemplates providing an edge such as 14 of the device with a plurality of either scored or slitted portions 23 so as to produce the elements 24 which may be bent laterally relatively to the strip and provide supports for the pie or cake plate and in addition provide means capable of holding the plate against displacement relatively to the display device.

From the foregoing description of the structure, it is evident that when the opposite ends 11 and 12 are brought together and connected with each other, that an annular element is formed, one edge of which such as 14 is disposed at an angle to the horizontal which will thus support a pie or cake plate at an inclination and thereby dis- 0.

Having thus described the invention, what-I claim as new and desire to cover by Letters Pat ent is: 1. A strip ofmaterial forming saidstrip. having. an element-of locking means provided at theopposite ends thereofand hav: ing a plurality of slits provided at the opposite ends, one ,end being engageable with any slit in the opposite end to provide an annular member, one edge of said strip between said ends being inclined from said ends to the center of length of said strip, said strip providing an annular member which is of a lesser height at one portion than at another portion thereof to thereby supportand display an article at an angle tothe horizontal. 2.
