2 Claims.
The present invention relates to a dispensing device for use in conjunction with a collapsible tube containing toothpaste or the like.
An important object of the invention is to provide a dispensing device whereby numerous objections to the present manner of handling a collapsible tube may be eliminated.
Another very important object of the invention 5 resides in the provision of a dispensing device i"'10 which may be supported on the wall or other similar support and which may be easily manipulated or operated to dispense the contents of the collapsible tube in an extremely economical and convenient manner.
Another very important object of the invention resides in the provision of a dispensing device of this nature which is simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, thoroughly eflicient and reliable in use and operation, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings: W, Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device em- 439 bodying the features of my invention. I
Figure 2 is a plan view of the blank from which the casing is made.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 33 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a rear elevation of the device. Figure 5 is a vertical section through the device taken substantially on the line 55 of Figure 4.
Figure 6 is a similar View taken on the line 66 of Figure 4.
549 Figure 7 is a perspective view of the extruding bail, and
Figure 8 is a disassembled perspective view of the roller andits end disk.
Referring to the drawings in detail it will be seen that the letter C denotes generally a casing The side walls 6 are provided with flanges 9 which are bent outwardly at right angles and have openings 10 through which suitable fastening elements such as screws 11 may be extended so as to mount the casing on a wall or any other suitable support. Fingers or hooks 12 are struck from the bottom wall 8 and bent as indicated in Figure 1 to provide hooks on which toothbrushes or the like may be engaged. The side walls 6 are provided with openings 14 alined with each other. The front wall 5 is provided with a substantially rectangular opening 15 in the upper portion thereof and in the lower corners are sidewardly extending notch like extensions 16. A key comprises a handle or head 17 and an elongated threaded shank 18 terminating in a re- (35 duced extension 19 journalled in one of the openings 14 while the head portion is journalled through the other opening 14. A wooden roller orthe like 20 is mounted on the shank 18 being provided with a longitudinally extending axial bore 21 preferably. End disks 22 are mounted on the shank 18 and nuts 23 threaded on the shank l8 clamp the disks tightly against the ends of the rollerand consequently lock the roller on the shank to turn therewith. The roller is provided with a longitudinally extendingv groove 25 in the periphery thereof extending tangentially with respect to the axis of the roller.
An extruding bail of substantially U-shaped formation is denoted by the numeral 27 and has at its ends outwardly directed pintles 28 journalled in openings 29 in the lower portionsof the sides 6. The bail extends outwardly from. the casing through the opening 15 with the sides disposed in the notch like extension. Springs 30 are mounted in the casing and engage with the bail to hold the cross portion thereof against a collapsible tube 31 the closed end of which is engaged in the groove 25. Obviously, by turning, the contents of the tube may be squeezed therefrom in a convenient and economical manner.
It will also be obvious that the tube may be quickly and easily mounted and dismounted.
It is thought that the construction, operation, utility and advantages of this invention will now be clearly understood without a more detailed description thereof.
It is apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
1. A dispensing device of the class described including a casing having an opening in one wall thereof, a key journalled through the casing, a roller on the key formed with a groove in its periphery to receive the closed end of a collapsible tube, an extruding bail of U-shaped formation having ends rockably engaged in the casing and the sides extending outwardly from the casing through the opening adjacent the roller, and means urging the cross portion of the bail toward the roller.
2. A dispensing device of the class described including a casing having an opening in one wall thereof, a key journalled through the casing, a roller on the key formed with a groove in its periphery to receive the closed end of a collapsible
