Description

:.sTAGLER.
BEER-COOLER.
No. 192,539. Patented June 26,1877.
UNTTEE STATES PATENT @TELCE- JOHN STUGLER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO ALBERT EGLAU, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN BEER-COOLERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 192,539, dated June`26, 1877; application filed June 4, 1877. l
Z`o all lwhom it may concern:
Beit known that I, J oHN STUGLER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Beer- Coolers, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which- Figure lis a longitudinal vertical section of my cooler; Fig. 2, a face view of the same.
This invention consists in the peculiar construction of' a cooling-box, resting on a frame or horse, with a rounded cover hinged to the box.
The shape of the box, and especially the cover, follows the form of the cask as closely as convenient, and leaves only in the lower part of the box sufficient space to put in a few pieces of ice, for the purpose of keeping the contents of the cask cool while on draft.
The improvements will be fully hereinafter described, and specifically pointed out in the claim. y
ln the drawings, the letter A designates the frame or horse, the vfront legs a a of which are shorter than the rear legs a c', so as to produce an inclination toward the front, for the bottom of the box B to rest on the same. The casklies on two supports, c and c', the one in front, c, being lower than the one in the rear, c', so as to give the cask D, if brought in position, still more inclination, thereby enabling the whole of the liquid contents of the cask to be drawn off. The cock d extends from the box through a slot provided with a sliding door, constructed in the usual manner.
The louter part of the cooler is, on the inside,
lined with tin. Asn1allwaste-pipe,b, extends through the front of the box,
The rounded cover E of the cooler swings on hinges e at the rear, or, if preferred, at one of the sides. The joint between the box and the cover is inclined, and its plane passes through the axis of the cask, or nearly so, leaving the front very low. This arrangement gives great facility for placing a caskinto the box or for taking it out.
Having thus described my invention, I do not claim, broadly, a' cooler with a rounded top.
What I cla'im as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A beer-cooling apparatus consisting of the frame A, having its front legs a shorter than the rear legs, the box B, having a top, E, the inclined lined bottom, the supports c c for the barrel, fixed to the bottom, and the former of which is lower than the latter, and the Wastepipe b, extending through the box, the whole being combined and arranged to operate as and for the purpose described.
