Description

J. BRYAN.
PIN-BOX.
NO. 1914925. Patented June 12,1877.
WITNESSES INVENTOR v 3, a 64 ATTORNEY N-PET'ERS, PNOTO-LITHOGRAPHER; WASHINGTON. D. O,
.tion and operation of the same, reference UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN BRYAN, OF BIRMINGHAM, ASSIGNOR TO THE STAR PIN COMPANY, OF SHELTON TOWN, OF HUNTINGTON, CONNECTICUT.
IMPROVEMENT IN PIN-BOXES.-
, Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. [91,925, dated June 12, 1877; application filed March 31, 1877.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN BRYAN, of Birmiugham, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Papering Pins; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construcbeing had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure l of the drawings is a representation of a central vertical section, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the box having the pins inclosed.
This invention relates to paper boxes for pins; and consists in the construction and method of papering hereinafter set forth and claimed.
1n the accompanying drawings, A designates a pin-box, of paper or card-board, without a bottom, and B a' cover set upon the closed top a of the same, so as to protect pins C, which are stuck through said top a at right angles thereto. The said cover may be hinged to said box, if preferred. The bottom of said box is left open, as shown.
By thus constructing the pin-box without a bottom I cheapen its construction, and prevent the points of the pins from doing any injury by extending the sides of the case below the points of the pins.
I am aware that a toilet pin-case consisting of a box, having a diaphragm to receive the pins and a sliding bottom to elevate or support them, has heretofore been employed; and I therefore lay noclaim to such invention.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The pin-case herein described, consisting of the paper bottomless box A, with a closed top, a, the sides of the box adapted to extend below the points of the pins, and provided with the cover B, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
JOHN BRYAN.
