Patented July 18, a v I l MAILING EVICE" f Application filed June 27, i
' This invention relates tomailing devices,
and more particularly'to one comprising a body of paste-board, paper, parchment or suitable fabric which may be folded upon 5 itself to form an enclosure in which the article or material to be transported may be housed.
Itis an objectof the invention to provide a device of this character which is simple in- 10 construction, easy to manipulate, economical to fabricate, but highly effective for the purpose intended.
It is a special objectto provide a mailing device WhlCh contams a m1n1mum -number of V flapsor-stubs, and one which,- whenin folded operative conditionfor mailing, will provide folded and-glued to the body of the device for. V i i forming the sealed housing compartment'and' A acompletely sealed compartment, free from the. atmosphere for containing the material 'Itis'afurther special objectto provide a mailing or shipping device ofcthe above describedcharacter, having a structure which I while accomplishing the objects already'set forth nevertheless permits of easy and; ready 7 opening of the compartment for removal of the articles or material containedtherein, and without the necessity of unduly disrupt ing the material from which the-device is made,"
'to provide the foldable flap or stub portion which cooperates; with the main body of the device with an adhesive disposed thereon in A still further object'of the invention is such fashion asto'leaveunsealed portionsrbe-T tweenthe fiapgand body immediately 'adja cent-the-outside margin f the flap, whereby to permitthe easy insertion of altoolioi imples U f site end ,of' theline of fold.- Whilethe'ad hesivelextends completely around thelbory de r-yof the .flapz'and projects up to-the line of 99 fOld' at each side thereof, thefladhesive is I i omitted; at "predetermined portions, imm'edi-' l7 j Y j atelyqadjacent' the outermargin ofntheefl'ajp ment between the flap" andbody for breaking the seal :therebetween and for loosening the V I flap from the'body withoutdanger of tearing or unduly di ru ting, the material? from whichlthefparts'are made;
In prior vdevices, considerable hasi been experienced in maintaining anleff -ective seal between the parts whileat th'e'sametime presenting a. substantially smooth unbroken exterlor for the device 'and providing means for readily opening the compartment or pocket containing theienclosed article or ma- 9 terials, andit an especial objectfof'. this invention to incorporate'all of these desirable features into a simple device for the purpose intended. I T r r These-and other objectsof theinvention willappear from the following descri'ption""" and the appended claim'when taken-incon junction with the drawing, forming a partof' this application andin whichyfl Figure 1 is aplanview-of the flap or stub in unfolded conditio'nshow-fl ing one way of disposing the adhesivefon the flap for carrying out the inventionyFigu re hasbeen in condition for mailing or shipment and E1gure 3 is a transverse sectional view taken onthel ne3v- 3 OfTEignreSZL.
