Thepresent invention relates to containers employed for packing,"displaying and dis pensin merchandise and relates more particular y to a type of container composed of a plurality of containing sections which are folded together so that the sections lie top to top for packing purposes, and'for dispensing and displaying purposes, the sections are unfolded so that one section will stand behind and above the other, section. 2

In previouslyknown containers of a certain class, the two sections are composed of a single blank and the sections are so hinged together that they may be placed in the two positions above referred to. In'this type of box, the construction is such that the sections must stand, when set for display, in "a position wherein the center of gravity is often comparatively so high that the con' 26 tainer is apt to topple over, particularly when part of the contents are removed, soas to destroy the balance which might have existed when the container was completely filled. To obviate this disadvantage, the

sections are composed of separate members united together and supported by means which will hold the sections in determinable stepped relationto each other so as topro duce a tier-like effect. An invention em- 30 bo'clying these features broadly is the subject of a companion application, Serial No. 189,773, filed May 9, 1927 and the present invention introduces additional improvements or modifications in said former invention.

According to the present invention, the improvements, amongst others, consist of the provision of means whereby the union of the two sections together is rendered more secure and is more easily effected. Furthermore,

the arrangement is such that the sections are not entirely separated from one anothe'r'for packing but instead, they need be only moved into relative angular and vertical positions so that the sections ma be brought together with the tops thereof a utting or adjacent to each other. The sections mayalso be placed, one behind the other in stepped relation to each other. The former position is the one in which the sections lie when the container is packed for shipping and the latter position is the one in whichv they are placed when the container is employed for displaying and dispensing merchandise;

Referring to said drawing, the complete container is composed of the front section 1 5 and rear section 2, each of these sections hav lngthe frontwall-3, side walls land back wall 5. The back wall of'each section is extended and folded inwardly to form an inner or double back wall 6. The extension 6 of the rear section is extended above the side walls at 7 and is out if desired to provide a cut-out display 8 arranged to stand prominently at the back of the container. The front surfaces of the side and front walls, also of. the folded in back wall of both sections only are exposed, consequently, printing on only one side of the board is required throughout the container. 7 I 7 Both sections 1 and 2 have open fronts to receive thelcontents, for example, cartons9 as shown in broken lines in Figures 1 and 2. The front wall of the rear section carries the tongue 10 shown in operative position in Figure 1 by dotted lines. This tongue 10 has expanded ends or projectionsll, a notch 12 section 6 is folded inwardly, the slot is formed and at the same time, the guide lip 15 is raised. The back wall of the front section is extended downwardly to form the easel or support 16. This etxension 16 is cut away to provide seats 17 between. re xtensions .18 and 19.
