Patented June 27, 1933 UNITED, STATES-PATENT OFFICE I MAURICIO ROSKIN AND JULIO DAYENOFF, OF BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTlINA COMBINATION OF AUTOMATIC WEIGHING SCALES AND SALES APPARATUS Application filed March 9, 1931, Serial No. 521,344, and in Argentina August is, 1930.
Our invention relates mainly to the combination of automatic weighing scales with means which, when a weighing operation is performed, simultaneously deliver any kind of articles sold by druggists, c-onfectioners or grocers, packed in tubes, boxes or wrappers of small size.
This invention will be a means of inducing the public to buy the articles in exhibition at the scale, as this latter will function gratuitously during each sale. 'As'articles will be concerned, the value of which will not exceed 10 cents, such as for example tablets, chocolates and similar goods, it may be said that these can be bought without more expense than is at present necessary to start the weighing operation of a common scale.
An illustrative embodiment of this invention is shown by the accompanying drawing, in which:

In said drawing 1 is the face of a common scale, the aperture of which 2 into which generally the coin is put, can be shut. Furthermore, there exists a conduct 3 and this has connections with the conducts 4 which correspond with the respective openings 5. The passage of each conduct is intercepted by a contact 6 which, as shown in Figure 2, must be touched and raised indefectibly by the coin 7 during its travel to conduct 3. By this means, an electric current circuit derived from a battery 11, the house-line or any other source, is establish-ed through an electro-mag- 4 net 8 and conductors 9 and 10. a When a coin passes contact 6, core 12 is energized and this attracts immediately the upper branch of lever 13 which, turning on pin 14, causes the inferior fork 15 to raise the buffer 16 to the 4 position shown'in Figure 2. As soon as the coin is past contact 6, the circuit is interrupted, the electro-magnet ceases to operate and lever 13 advances by'means of spring 18 buffer 16 which causes the wrapper, box or tube containing the sold article 19 to drop into receptacle .20. Under these conditions, buffer 16 closes the aperture of the storage space for said goods, impeding thus further delivery. 7
So as to exhibit to the public the articles which the scale is delivering, these have been piled up behind a glass screen 21 at the upper part of which has been disposed a tiltable door 22 having a safety lock which serves for refilling the storage space in which the articles are piled up.
As is obvious, the delivery system can be applied to any scale, and the shape and exte-' rior decoration, as well as the dimensions of the container and the number of different productswhich are delivered by each apparatus, canjvary, as may appear convenient. We claim: In a coin-controlled vending machine of the type in which an article ejecting mecha-' nism is actuated upon closing of an electric circuit, an article magazine positioned at the front of the machine, an electro-magnet connected ad acent the inner wall of 52nd article magazine, a reciprocating e ector ad acent the bottom of the said magazine, said ejector nor mally positioned to close the bottom of said article magazine, a bell-crank lever pivoted on the inner wall of said article magazine adjacent said electro-magnet, one arm of said bell-crank lever being operably connected to said ejector, the other arm of which comprises an armature, said electro-magnet being positioned for direct'coaction'with said bellcrank lever upon closing of said electric circuit, a resilient means connected between said article magazine and said bell-crank lever for disconnecting the bell-crank leverfrom the electr0-magnet and returning the latterand said e ector to their normal positlons.
