From the foregoing description it becomes evident that the device is simple in construction; inexpensive in character; that it provides a water tight sealed opening that is instantaneously available for the purpose stated, and that the various objects of the invention are attained by the construction described.
Having thus briefly described my invention, its utility and mode of operation, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is 1. A fire extinguisher hand hole comprising a tubular member insertible in the floor or wall of a building providing an aperture therethrough, said member being provided with a circumferential groove at the upper end, a cover therefor having a flange entering the groove, the groove providing a receptacle for sealing material, a plate attached to the cover and slidably fitting in the tubular member and removable therethrough by removal of the cover, and means for adjusting the plate relative to the cover to position the same practically flush with the surface of the floor or wall opposite that occupied by the cover.
2. A fire extinguisher hand hole comprising an open ended metal member insertible in the floor or wall of a building providing an aperture therethrough, a ring like member in threaded relation with the said open ended member at one end, said ring member having a groove in its upper face having its outer peripheral wall greater in length than the inner wall, a cover member of a thickness approximately equal to the difference in length of walls of the ring member fitting within said outer wall and having a flange extending into the saic groove, the groove providing a receptacle for waterproofing material whereby fluid or liquid may not pass to beneath the cover into the open ended member, a handle for the cover member, and a plate connected with the cover member slidably fitting the open ended member and positioned approximately flush with the surface of a floor or wall in which the device is positioned.

A fire extinguisher hand hole comprising an open ended tubular member insertible in the fioor or the wall of a building and providing an aperture therethrough, said member having a circularly grooved portion at the upper end, a cover m mber having a portion positioned in the said groove, the groove providing a chamber for a waterproofing material to prevent flow of liquids beneath the cover into the tubular member, a handle for the said cover consisting of a U shaped member, the legs of which extend through apertures provided in the cover, rheans on the ends of the handle member to prevent their withdrawal through the apertures therefor, and a sealed receptacle on the under side of the cover into which the handle ends extend.

A fire extinguisher hand hole comprisin g an open-ended tubular member insertible in the floor or the wall of a building and providing an aperture therethrough, said memher having a circularly grooved portion at the upper end, a. cover member having a portion positioned in the said groove, the groove providing a chamber for a waterproofing materia to preventflow of liquids beneath the cover into the tubular member, a handle for the said cover consisting of a U shaped memher, the legs of which extend through apertures provided in the cover, means on the ends of the handle member to prevent their withdrawal through the apertures therefor, a sealed receptacle on the under side of the cover into which the handle ends extend, a plate attached to the receptacle and slidably fitting the tubular member, and means for adjusting the position of the plate flush with the wall surface at the end of the tubular member opposite the cover end.
5. A fire extinguisher hand hole comprising a tubular member insertible in the wall or floor of a building, the said tubular memher having its upper end externally threaded, a channel member threaded thereon, the outer wall of which is of greater height than the inner wall, the threaded relation of the parts permitting an adjustment whereby the edge of the outer wall of the channel member and the opposite end of the tubular member may be positioned practically flush with the respective opposite sides of the floor or wall in which the member is positioned, a cover member fitting within the outer wall of the channel member and resting on the inner wall thereof, said cover member having a flange extending into the channel, said channel providing a receptacle for a non-congealing material to prevent ingress of water or other liquid into a hand hole, a handle for the cover member consisting of a U shaped rod, the legs of which extend through apertures provided therefor in the cover, said cover further having a groove between the apertures to receive the connecting portion of the handle between the legs, the ends of the legs being provided with means preventing removal through the apertures therefor, a cylindrical member connected with the cover into which the handle ends extend, a cap member in threaded relation with the said cylindrical portion of the cover providing a closed chamber for containing a noncongealing material to prevent passage of liquid through the handle, apertures of the cover into the hand hole, a plate slidably fitting the tubular member, a rod in threaded relation with the plate at one end and with the cap at the other, the threaded rod and threaded relation of the cap with the cylindrical member providing means for adjusting the plate in the tubular member to a position practically flush with the inner face of a wall or under surface of a floor in which the device is positioned.
6. A fire extinguisher hand hole comprising a tubular member positioned in the floor or wall of a building providing an aperture therethrough, a cover member for closing the upper end, a plate attached to the cover member in spaced relation therewith and insertible in the tubular member by the placing of the cover thereon, said plate being positioned a proximately flush with the surface of the fi oor or wall opposite that occupied by the cover also closing the aperture provided by the tubular member.
