The present invention relates to a protecting cap for the heels of stockings which is intended to be placed in the shoe. In order to save the stockings the protecting cap must be quite smooth on the inside. The outside may be made rough, especially on the underside. Heel caps have already been made consisting entirely of celluloid. Such celluloid caps are soon torn on use and they are of no further use. In order to avoid this disadvantage, according to the present invention the cap and the lateral parts are stamped out separately and pressed into the proper shape eral part as the only means for connecting those parts.

The lateral part b is preferably bent out of one piece. The part b is moulded to the shape of the heel and has an upper edge, as shown at d which is curved outwards, which rests on the upper edge of the shoe and prevents the stocking being rubbed through by the edge of the shoe. The connection between the bottom plate a and the side part b is formed by an elastic material e. This material e mayadvantageously consist of leather or the like. This connecting material e constitutes the only means of connectin the bottom plate a with the lateral part b.
